Gamers Card

 

Good Morning Spellbinder Fans and Crafters.

 

Today I am sharing with you this awesome die called You've Got Game which is part of the new Die D-Lites range from Spellbiners.

 

My daughter really loves this die and I have a few birthdays coming up that I know this die will be perfect for.  I think even my brother will love this he does love his games consoles.

 

To create my card I started with a square of white and black cardstock and glued these together to create a little border.

 

I then created my background using scraps of card and a lovely elongated hexagon also from Spellbinders which you will find in the Galaxy Club Kit Of The Month.

I die cut several of these to make the pattern down the side.

 

 

I then used some silver foiled card to cut the screen and some black foil card for the sentiment and the little games controller.  I then ran my dies back through my Platinum Die Cutting Machine with the embossing mats to create the detail.  You can just see the little buttons on the games controller.

 

 

I added a little frame to my card to draw your eye to the centre of the card and I used a couple of the smaller square dies from the 6x6 matting basics A die set.

 

I then finished my card with a couple of stars and some candy dots which can be found in the Through The Letter Box from Bubbly Funk.

Coffee Inspired

Hello Everyone.

 

I have just spent the morning sorting out some paperwork that I need for a course I am starting on Monday.  I have finally decided enough is enough and learning French isn't something that I am just going to pick up.  So I have taken the plunge right into the deep end and signed up for a full time French course, 7 hours a day, 5 days a week.

 

I am very nervous about it as the course is also design to help you find work, interview techniques and write your CV.

 

I am still hoping it gives me time to craft in between studying as I find crafting very relaxing.

 

So wish me luck.

 

I have a coffee inspired card to share with you this afternoon.  Something I know I will need lots of come next week.

 

 

I decided to try something different and I bought a new stencil from my local craft shop.  I used a couple of different shades of blue ink and applied this to the stencil to create my background.

 

I then stamped the sentiment in black over where I had stencilled using the Coffee, Yes Please stamp set from Paper Sweeties.

 

I then stamped the cup from the same set onto some wood effect paper and applied the stencil pattern to this.  I then used the matching Sweet Cuts Set also from Paper Sweeties to cut out the mug and the steam.

 

I then finished my card with a few sequins.

 

I really love the clean and simple look at the moment but I still have to add some sparkle somewhere otherwise my cards just don't look finished.

Masked Magic

 Hello Everyone and happy Friday.

 

I hope you have something nice planned for the weekend.  We are off to a bouncy castle indoor fun park which the kids will love.  I am not sure about my head though so I better take something for a headache.

 

Its challenge time at Daring Cardmakers this week Nat has picked our fun dare.  Its called "Masked Magic".  Nat would like to see some form of masking technique on your creation.  So you can use post it notes, masking paper, masking fluid or masking tape.

 

 

I took the easy option and just used a sheet of paper to mask off the top and bottom of my card to create a straight edge.  I then inked up my background used blues and greens to create a lovely country scene.

 

I wanted to try the reflection technique.  So I Stamped my real image first and used the lovely as a tree set from Stampin Up.  To create the reflection I stamped the image into a piece of acetate and then lining this up with the real image I pressed the acetate firmly on to the card to leave the stamped impression behind.  I gently lifted it off and if the image hadn't stamped just rub lightly over the acetate taking care not to smudge the ink.

I finished my card by trimming the white cardstock to fit a square of black card and I left a small border and I also stamped a little greeting in black.

 



 

A clean and simple card from me today and I actually love how this card and technique turned out.

Happy Birthday Blog

I was just looking through my Facebook news feed when I noticed that my blog was celebrating its birthday today.  I can't believe I have been blogging for 6 years.

 

So this post is a great big thank you to all those people that have supported me throughout my crafting journey.  I have met lots of lovely people along the way.  Some of them I have yet to meet in person like my lovely Daring Cardmakers teamies.

 

So today I am sharing a card made using my favourite technique.

 

A magical shaker card.

 

 

If you follow my blog you will know how much I love this style of card and I am always on the look out for pretty sequins to place in the shaker element.

 

Today I have made this card using some fabulous dies from Spellbinders.

I started by cutting a square of this lovely pale green card and I randomly cut some of the little clouds out using the Die D-lites Unicorn Fantasy.  I then cut some clouds from white card and placed this back into the negative space in the pale green background.

 

 

I then die cut the unicorn from gold card, more clouds and the rainbow from the Die D-Lites Unicorn Fantasy set.

 

I then made my shaker part.  I always cut frames and glue them together when making a shaker card as if I use foam squares of tape I find that my sequins always find a way out.

 

I cut about 6 frames from white card stock using the 6x6 matting basics squares from Spellbinders.  I then added a square of acetate over the top and cut out a final frame from some lovely white textured card to hold all the sequins in place.

 

I then added a lovely greeting which is a sticker from the Galaxy Card Kit Of The Month and I also added some die cut stars which are from the same kit.

Mermaid Wishes

 

Good morning Spellbinder Fans.

 

 

 

I have another Spellblogger project to share with you today and I couldn't wait to play with this sweet little Build A Mermaid die.

 

Its a fantastic set as you get to choose the colour of her hair, tail fin etc..  As all the parts are separate dies even her little sea shell top.

 

 

 

When I received this die I had the idea of making a under the sea themed card and I just had to turn it into a shaker card.

 

 

I started with a white square of card and cut an aperture into this.  To keep my sequins safe inside my shaker I cut of several square frames to fit the aperture and then glued them all together.  Usually about 6 or 8 depends on how big your sequins are.

 

 For my under the sea scene I inked up the background using a blue and green ink pad and then ran this through my platinum machine using the Blistered Embossing Folder from Tammy Tutterow at Spellbinders.  I then die cut the Sandcastle from copper mirror card and glued that to my inky background.

 

I am now ready to assemble my shaker part.  I glued the frames over my inky under sea ground and added some sequins I then glued the square of plastic over the top to secure my sequins inside.

 

I still wanted to create more of a undersea effect so I added a little piece of vellum.  I then placed my square of card that I cut with the aperture in over the top and added some foam squares to stick it in place to my base card.

 

Now I got to have fun with the cute Mermaid.  I die cut all the parts I needed and I coloured her hair using promarkers and added the details to her face.  I then finished with a few leaves from the Tropics Wild and Free by Debi Adams at Spellbinders.

 

I really enjoyed making this card as I just love making shaker cards.  They just add that fun element to a card and of course all the added the sparkle.
