Cinema Saturday Creative Challenge #38 "Strange Brew"

Good Morning Everyone! Since it is Canada Day on July 1st - we wanted to honor our Canadian players with a fun Canadian movie: Strange Brew starring Rick Moranis and Dave Thomas. This movie is definitely a bit quirky and has a surreal comedic air and we guarantee that you will be saying "eh?" by the end of the movie! The story of this movie, according to Wikipedia, is loosely based on Hamlet. You can read more about the story line/plot here

So what's the challenge requirement this week you ask, eh?

The challenge requirement this week is:
to add a little maple leaf to your creations (it can be a small one, a big one -
 whatever you would like :)
We are joined by our guest designers Shari and Lindsay - who wowed us with their creations from Challenge #36: Beauty and the Beast. Thank you ladies for playing along with us!!!

Sankari's Card:
is for now in my head :)
hopefully it will make its way out of my head and onto a card sometime soon :)
a big thanks to Shari and Lindsay for being our wonderful guest designers this week!
hugs to all :)

Brooke card inspired by "Strange Brew"

(p.s. I know that I spelled the "eh" wrong on the card. I will fix it later")

Who doesn't love good doughnuts, eh? Since we watched this movie with the older kids I asked them what should I use for my inspiration? My DH said I should use a doughnut.. They make a huge deal about doughnuts 3 times in the movie.. So here you go, eh! I also wanted to use other elements of Canada in the card so I made a flannel shirt for the background, French script, and the Canadian Flag of course, eh! This movie is totally weird and I think all men/boys have seen it.. I did find the first part of the movie the funniest and had a little "Wayne's World" flash back..  "Rick Moranis" and "Dave Thomas" are so funny and they can't stop saying "eh" at the end of every sentence.. These two are the Canadian version of "Homer Simpson". I swear I have seen a episode more than once where Homer has eaten or drank more that her should have and gets stuck... This movie is one of those that you will probably have to own due to boys/men in the house.. I think I will not be watching this movie but listening to it for a long time to come..

If you think these to guys sound familiar as a team. You have probably hear them in the Disney movie "Brother Bear" they are the brother Mooses/Meese. (trivia)

Can't wait to hear what you all think of this film...

Lindsay's Card Inspired by the movie: Strange Brew:

So this was deffinately a hard one! I probably would never have picked this movie to play along with, but my Hubby enjoyed it! I couldn't get him to stop talking in a Candian accent and saying Eh? for hours!!! lol So this card was made for my husband. He loved the little mouse in the bottle. This movie had this Elizabethan feel to it in parts where it shows this castle and factory atop the hills, which inspired the look of this cart with the muted tones the distressed look on the papers. I used DCWV Happily Ever After. But this was obviously a comedy kind of cheesy and funny in a drunken goofball kinda way soooooo when you open the door to this seemingly scerene and beautiful card you have the little mouse from the bottle asking "where's my free beer Eh?"

Check out Lindsay's blog for more details of her beautiful and hilarious card :)

Shari's Card Inspired by the movie: Strange Brew:

I am so excited to be able to guest design this week for this awesome Challenge blog! Thanks so much Brooke and Sankari for picking my Project from last weeks "Beauty and the Beast". This weeks Movie as you all know now is Strange Brew. I absolutely love this movie and have seen it more times then I can count. It's a bit weird at times, but Hilarious! I chose the mugs since the movie is all about beer. They say "hoser and Eh" a lot in the movie, so I felt the sentiment went well. I actually don't drink beer, but felt my card could be any drink really. Thanks again Ladies and if you haven't seen this movie, rent it!

Check out Shari's blog for more details of her Cheers-riffic card :)

Cinema Saturday Creative Challenge #37 "High School Musical

Tomorrow marks the summer solstice in North America (wish our Aussie friends were up here to celebrate it with us - big hugs to all of you!!!)  and to celebrate the official start to summer, we thought it would be fun to do an end of school movie and so we are happy to present the movie: High School Musical as our featured movie today (you can pick any of the High School Movies that you would like to do for this challenge). According to Wikipedia the first High School Musical has been described like a modern Romeo and Juliet (without the tragedy part :) as two members from rival cliques try out for lead positions in a high school musical. AND! It was filmed in East High School in Salt Lake City, Utah - where our own Brooke went to High School!! Look at the sweet pics of Brooke and her sweet daughter at East High!

This week we are happy to be joined by Carol Dunstan who was our Audrey recipient from the Cinema Challenge - Some Like it Hot. The challenge requirement this week is to use School Letters (that can be something like Varsity Letters, or a kid's lettering font or anything school letter-ish or to use numbers  as a main feature of your card.
So have fun and letter or number it up!

Brooke Project Inspired by the movie High School Musical:

Sorry no picture in the book yet. I need more ink!
More info on my blog.

East High Class of 1989
(I know I'm totally old)

Brooke and Abbie dancing on the stage of East High... Guess what it's not my first time...

Brooke and Abbie sitting just under the balcony where Sharpay had her big cafeteria screen. With every movie they change the decor...
You guessed it "20" years ago I graduated from none other that the famous EAST HIGH.. Which is really in SLC, Utah... Where they film most Disney movies.. We can pretty much pick out the cast and location of them all.

We had out class reunion this last weekend. So we had the highschool Musical tour... What an ordeal.. It was really hard to arrange evidently.. They charged a TON and our class officers had to even get insurance for the tour... LAME... The best part of the tour was when our guide announced... Our next stop is "Sharpay's Locker" You should have heard the squeals of all the little girls... priceless. It was great to be back on the stage of East again I was able to do many performances there and treasure all of them.. East has one of the biggest stages of any high school. They even have an Orchestra pit.. Not very many schools have that.

I will post more pictures on my blog... You have to attend your class reunions... It's fun to get reconnected with old friends.. And you never know... You might even make new friends.. It cool to connect with people who you though didn't know you even existed and have them tell you how much they had admired you... They are always those who never change.. But sad for them for not moving past high school or venturing of into the world...

Hope you enjoy the show...

Hugs
Brooke

Sankari's Card Inspired by the movie High School Musical:

Okay so I have to admit - I saw High School Musical last night - and then made my card right after! For some reason - I was trying to avoid seeing this movie - I don't know it felt so teenager-ish and I felt suddenly "old" - but I have to say it was a fun viewing and I can totally see why this movie is a hit - fun songs - hip actors - (and finally now I know who Zac Ephron is who all my little nieces have a crush on!).

I wanted to make a fun card that was a little quirky and used the Princeton font on my computer to generate the sentiment " I love you Pi Squared" -( I wanted to use both the School Letters and numbers requirement for this challenge ) and also because I love the scene in the movie where they bake her a cake with the math character: "Pi").  I adore this little funky button - I knew I was saving it for a reason :)and used Taylor's fun sketch for this card layout :) For more details - you can check my blog (a little later today- as everything is somewhat last minute this morning :)

Big Hugs!
Happy Summer :)
Sankari :)

Carol's Card Inspired by the movie High School Muscial:
"Thank you to Brooke and Sankari for picking my sweet lollipop card for the “Some Like It Hot” Audrey! That’s exciting in itself, but it’s a bonus when it means you get to be the guest designer the next week. And how fun that it is High School Musical! With two young daughters in the house this has been a favourite around here, although I didn’t think I would like it. I was pleased to find that it was better than most of the Disney tv movies I have seen, so I didn’t mind revisiting it for the challenge. There were a lot of ways I could go with my card, but I felt that I had to have a lot of red and white, and I wanted my card to be a bit of a celebration of the individual."
For more details on Carol's lovely card- Check out her blog

Thank you to all of you who played along with our last challenge Beauty and the Beast Challenge!! You seriously created simply Beauty-i-ful creations!!! And also I didn't have a chance to comment on everyone's creation - promise that I will this weekend! but just wanted to Thank EVERYONE who played along and wanted to welcome our First Time players!!! So glad you found us and that we found you!!!

So please do check back in on Sunday Night for our Audrey and Blog candy recipient!
