LSC183 - Something Old, New, Borrowed & Blue

This card was done for today's Limited Supply Challenge on SCS which was to use:
Something old: Believe it or not, the skinny white ribbon was used for my favors at my Wedding over 14 years ago! So I would have to say this fits into this category!
Something new: I got to color this wonderful image with my new Copics!! Wow! I do have to say, Copics are wonderful!! I will sooo be getting more!
Something Borrowed: I borrowed the idea of cutting out the main flower in the image and popping it up on a dimensional from one of the examples of this card in this year's SU catty.
Something Blue: Well...don't think I need to explain that...LOL!!
Okay, I think this has to be said...my name is Connie and I am a tearing-a-holic!! I used to tear on my cards ALL the time, then I finally broke my habit...then last week's Way to Use it Challenge was to add a tear on your card, and ever since I have NOT been able to stop!! Please HELP!! :)
Card Details:
Images: Morning Soft, Fancy Flexible Phrases
Paper: Whisper White, Brilliant Blue, Bashful Blue DSP

Follow the Butterflies

My dear friend, Wendy (Wendybell on SCS), put a challenge on her blog a few days ago asking people to join her in her "follow the butterflies" quest by making a pocket card with butterfly images on it. Some background on her "follow the butterflies" quest, she gave herself a challenge to make 1 butterfly card a week for 2 years to send to her oldest son who is out of the country on a mission. She has made it just over one year, so she is half way there! You go girl!! (and happy b-day again!!...today is her birthday! :))
Anyway. she had turned her example pocket card on its side and I really liked that, so I kept the layout that direction. The images i used are from Kitchen Sink Stamps 3 step butterfly - for the first step I used pumpkin pie, then followed with tangerine tango, and then finished up with chocolate chip. I then cut the image out and popped it up with a dimensional. For the smaller butterflies on the panel inside the pocket, I only did the last two steps for that image and used pumpkin pie and tangerine tango. I tore the flap edge, and fastened it down with so saffron brads. Then for the sentiment I used SU's warm word, and punched it out with my oval punches.
Card Details:
Images: 3 Step Butterflies, Kitchen Sink Stamps; Warm Words, SU!
Paper: Chocolate Chip, Tangerine tango, So Saffron card stock and DSP
Ink: Chocolate Chip, Tangerine Tango, So Saffron
Accessories: Brads, Oval Punches

SC191 - Repeated Pockets

First and foremost...I have my camera back!!! Woo Hoo!! Okay, onto the card...I had some time tonight to work on this week's Sketch Challenge on SCS. This was really a fun little sketch! I used one of the images from pocket silhouettes and stamped it repeatedly across the main image panel using my stamp-a-ma-jig in an attempt to keep them as strait as possible. LOL!! Then I sponged the main image panel with both kiwi kiss and close to cocoa, and popped it up on dimensionals. For the background I used the new Urban garden DPS, tore the edges of both the DSP and the close to cocoa layered edge and sponged both with close to cocoa. Finally, I added the brads in the corner, the close to cocoa grosgrain ribbon to the main image panel and the sentiment just above the brads.
Card Details:

Paper: Kiwi Kiss, Close to Cocoa, Urban Garden DSP, Whisper White
Ink: Kiwi Kiss, Close to Cocoa
Accessories: Brads, Close to Cocoa Grosgrain Ribbon

CC181 - Inspired Krafty Rose

This week's color challenge on SCS was to used Rose Red, Basic Black and Kraft. What a great color combo!
I just can't seem to get enough of this Inspired by Nature set I got at convention...it is just way too much fun to use!! I inked the image with my SU! markers, and inked the grass with versamark. Then I cut the image out with my Creative Memories oval cutter and trimmed the side. As a sidebar...I totally and completely recommend the CM circle and oval cutters, they are really easy to use.
I finished the card off with some brads and fun and funky fibers, I really like the look of the fibers with this image.

Convention Swaps

Okay, I am finally getting time to upload my 2008 convention swaps. I was in three organized swaps for convention this year. The first was a WOW swap where I did a waterfall card. I used Blooming with Love...when I see this set I think spring, but decided to try and make a fall card with them. Basically I stamped the watering can three times, once setting strait up, once slightly tilted and one more tilted even more. The final waterfall panel is the flower pot...So you get the effect that the watering can is "watering" the flower in the flower pot. Then on the tag portion that you pull, I added the sentiment. I also stamped the chocolate chip background with the sanded background stamp.

Card Details:
Images: Blooming with Love, Sanded
Paper: Chocolate Chip, Really Rust, Not Quite Navy, Old Olive, Whisper White
Ink: Same, Plus Stazon Black
Accessories: Jumbo Eyelets, Twine

My second Swap was a technique swap. I decided to do one of my most favorite techniques ever...Faux Suede. For this technique you need liquid applique...in this case I used white and added creamy caramel re-inkers to give it the brown suede color. Then I brayered it on some creamy caramel card stock and dried it with my heat gun. This give the card stock a very realistic suede look.

To complete, I stamped the Genuine image from Bronc Buster in chocolate chip, directly on the faux suede card stock. I turned the torn edge of the not quite navy background up, and fastened it with three brads. I also stamped the flourish looking stamp from this set twice on the background...once right side up (on the left) and then again upside down (on the right)...it though it gave a very pretty look on the background. To finish it off I added a brad in the middle of the star on the main image

Card details:
Images: Bronc Buster
Paper: Not Quite Navy, Creamy Caramel, Chocolate Chip, Bashful Blue
Ink: Chocolate chip, and creamy caramel re-inker
Accessories/Tools: White Liquid Appliqué, brads, brayer, heat gun

My final card was for a swap that we did at a fellow Challenge Chaser's (CC) house, Wendy's (Wendybell). What a blast we had! It was so nice meeting people I have been talking with for over a year!!

Okay, on to the card...I used kind thoughts...one of my favorites! I inked the butterfly in bravo burgundy and stamped it on So Saffron and then cut it out. Popped it up with a dimensional on the so saffron layer which is stamped with the flourish stamp from this set. Then I added a bunch of layers, the sentiment, and finished it off with the ribbon. Oh yeah, I also stamped the four corners of the always artichoke background with the medallion image from this set.

Card details:
Images: Kind Thoughts
Paper: Always Artichoke, So Saffron Bravo Burgundy
Ink: Same as paper
Accessories: Ribbon, sponges for the inked edges

Faux Embossing!

Good Monday morning!! I got up bright and early this morning so I could do today's technique challenge on SCS. Today's challenge was faux embossing...so fun and easy. Basically you stamp your image in craft white (or vanilla). Let is air dry (or heat it to dry faster). Then stamp your image on your stamp-a-ma-jig, and place it over you craft image just to the left or right depending on where you want your shadow. Then stamp your image over the craft image with classic ink, and this is what you get! Like I said, fun and easy! I will definitely be doing this again!!

Okay I just realized that when I scanned my card in today there was a speck on my scanner, so I have a yucky black speck on my white ribbon...ugh!! DH has the camera today, I will be so glad when I can use that again!! (okay, I scanned the card again, so it is now de-bugged, LOL!!)

Card details:
Stamps: Upsy Daisy, Fancy Flexible Phrases
Paper: Night of Navy, Baja Breeze, Whisper White, Urban Garden DSP
Accessories: HPH, Small Oval Punch, Ribbon

Stamping with DD

Well, I went ahead and bought the new big shot that Stampin' Up! has started selling, and ever since I got it, my 5 year old DD has been eying it...so wanting to play with it (like mother like daughter LOL!!). So, when one of the VSN challenges with weekend was to have your kids create a bookmark, I thought it would be the perfect chance to show her what to do. Let me tell you, even I was impress at how the baskets and blooms die-cut cut through the chipboard...like butter!! Anyway, back to DD...she love to turn the crank and see the outcome. Then she had a BLAST inking the chipboard up with my craft ink spot. She had inky fingers..."just like you mommy", she said. hehehe!!

Anyway, I really liked the way these turned out so I decided to make more of them for all the gals in my current book club. I really hope they all like them!!
