FTTC22 - Chalked Firecrackers!

It's time for Flourishes Timeless Tuesday Challenge #22 . Have we got a lovely challenge for you this week! It is the last Tuesday of the month, so it is time for another Guest Challenge Designer!! Today we welcome Linda Lucas (Lovely Linda on SCS), all the way from Australia! Welcome, Linda!!! Linda is challenging us to use our chalk! Now, there are so many techniques that you can do using chalk. Whether you want to color, sponge distress, create popping pastels, chalkboard technique, or choose another, the point is to dust of that chalk container and Chalk It!! We would love to see what you create!

The set I used for today's card is Flourishes Patriotism on Parade. I just love this patriotic stamp set! So very fun! For the background I used my chalks with the background burst technique from last month's Technique Junkies Newsletter to make the firecrackers stand out on the black paper. The image of the kids was stamped in craft black ink and then heat embossed with clear embossing powder. I then sponged a bit of red and blue over the image panel with distress inks. and added the sentiment punched with SU's oval punches. The ribbon is riding hood red taffeta ribbon, and the star brads are also from SU.

I just LOVE this Patriotism on Parade set, and Flourishes has launched a "Designing for a Cause" campaign just for this set!! To read all the deets, you can head over to SCS here.

Also, be sure to check out the other Friends of Flourishes Blog team designers to see what they created for you this week.

Kitchen Sink Monday - Farewell Daises!

KSS-June-30th-09-ad

Happy Kitchen Sink Stamp Monday!! For today's card I wanted to do a sort of farewell tribute to Kitchen Sink's 3 step Daisies, which is being retired.

My large daisy was stamped in Only Orange, Pumpkin Pie, Tangerine Tango and Chocolate Chip. The smaller daises were stamped with Summer Sun, Crushed Curry and Close to Cocoa. Once I finished stamping the images, I cut them out and popped them up on the orange Label 1 faux felt panel, which is a technique I learned from the Technique Junkies Journal. The yellow background was dry embossed with one of my SU texturz plates, and then sponged slightly with pumpkin pie.

To finish off the card, I added the sentiment on some Kiwi Kiss ribbon, and a few silver flower brads.

Please head on over to see all the other creation the Crew members have created week for you!! You are gonna wanna check what Maria has in store for you this week on her blog! Starting today and each day after (until July 7th), Maria will be giving you sneak peeks of all the new sets to be released July 7th!

LSC226 - Journey

I made this card for SCS LSC 226...it was a kind of follow the list times three. You were given a menu of three lists, and you could choose one thing for your card from each list...type of image...colors...and type of embellishments. I chose an automobile for my image, a neutral color scheme, and natural fibers and hardware.

The image I used is form Innovative Stamp Creations Men of Wisdom sheet. I heat embossed the card with black craft and clear embossing powder. Nope, the background is not DP, it is also an image from this same set, which was also heat embossed with craft black and clear EP on kraft paper. All of the edges were distressed and sponged with black soot distress ink. To finish off the card, I added the natural hemp and Tim Holtz charm and metal corners.

Thanks so much for visiting today! Have a great weekend...be sure to come back on Sunday to check out the ISC blog sketch challenge!!

Some Exciting News & Our Daily Bread Designs - Sneak Peek!!

You may be wondering about my title...why I am talking about the Our Daily Bread Designs (ODBD) sneak peeks...well...I have some very exciting news!! I have been asked to join the ODBD design team!! How fun is that! I just love all of their inspiring Christian stamps, and I am so pleased to be part of such a wonderfully talented team!! Thank you so much Kelley for this fabulous invitation!

So, I promised you a sneak peek of the ODBD new release for July 1st, and here it is! For this card I used both the Amazing Grace stamp and the Grow in Grace set. I stamped the words to Amazing Grace on a piece of pink DPS, and then did the stain glass technique with some velum and the dogwood flowers embossed in black and then colored with copics. The bottom of the velum piece has been punched with SU's eyelet border punch (it is kind of hard to see in the pictures). I just LOVE this hymn, and these sets are just soooo beautiful!!

Okay, that is pretty much it for today's peek, but be sure to come back next week, July 1st for the ODBD blog hop!! Should be tons of fun!!!

Thanks so much for visiting! Have a great day!!

FTTC21 - Timeless Tuesday Sketch!

This week, Flourishes Timeless Tuesday #21 is hosted by Silke Ledlow, and she is challenging us to use a sketch, which can be seen here! Such a fun sketch, and I am such a sucker for any sketch with either a circle or an oval in it!!

I was in need of a card for a dear friend's birthday, so for my card today, I used Summer on the Patio set. The images were colored with copics, and then the edges of the panel was sponged. The DSP is from Basic Grey Wisteria, and I embellished with some champagne half pearls, a filigree brad and certainly celery twill ribbon. I was totally inspired to "tie" my ribbon simply after seeing this done many times on Denise's (peanutbee) blog...this is such a fun and simple way to tie a bow...I will be doing it again!! Thanks for the inspiration Denise!!

Be sure to check out the other Friends of Flourishes Blog team designers to see what they created for you this week.

Thanks so much for visiting today! Have a great day!
