LSC231 - Grunge Paper Peony!!

I made this card for LSC231 - To die for! Where you can only use die cuts and one stamp either for the background or for the sentiment...you could use anything else!

So, as you can see I chose to use the spellbinders peony Nestabilities. I used all but the largest and the smallest in the group and cut them all out of grunge paper. I then sponged rich razzleberry and black soot distress ink all over each of the flowers. Next, I sprayed them with some Vanilla Breeze glimmer mist, and curved the edges up for each layer. To finish off the flowers I added the black corduroy button brad (which is actually a kiwi kiss corduroy button brad colored black with my black copic marker!)

For the background of my gate fold card, I used a Heidi Swapp mask sponged with rich razzleberry ink. I then added the sentiment/verse which is from Innovative Stamp Creation's Thoughtful Verses stamp set.

Thanks so much for visiting today! Hope you have a wonderful day!!

SC239 - I Am With You Always

I have another sneak peek for you today from Our Daily Bread Designs August release! This card uses the new set entitled Jesus. For my card, I used today's sketch challenge over at SCS...this is such a wonderful sketch, and I was so excited to see that it was created by my fellow ODBD design team member Silke (sparklegirl)! :)

This card is pretty simple, the DSP is from one of my favorite SU packages - Parisian Breeze. I stamped the image in Walnut Stain distress ink on kraft paper. The sentiment was stamped on velum, and then placed over the image and attached with some antique brass brads. The card is then finished off with a bit of chocolate satin ribbon.

Thanks so much for visiting. Be sure to stop by August 1st which is the release day for the two new sets from ODBD...I will have another card for you to see using one of these sets!!

Kitchen Sink Monday - A Wedding Favor!

Good Monday morning, and happy Kitchen Sink Monday!! For today, I have created this little box. It was inspired by MANY things/challenges, I am not sure where to start! This little box uses 5 of the 8 DTGD09 challenges posted last Thursday. Here are the challenges:
DTGD09KrystieLee - Clearly Creative! - to use something transparent or clear on your project.
DTGD09LodiChick - It's in the Bag! - to create a box or bag
DTGD09eggette - Flap Your Wings! - to have an image with wings on your project
DTGD09Becca_Stamps - Cut it Out!! - to use punches or die cuts
DTGD09gbedwright- DP by ME - to create your own designer paper

Lets start off with the little box. A few weeks ago, my dear friend Holly (Toy on SCS) posted this adorable little box template, and I am such a sucker for cute bags an boxes, I just could not wait to make one! For the box base, I decided to create my own DP by using one of Kitchen Sink Stamp's new sets called Big Bold Swashes. I inked the largest flourish with versamark, and heat embossed with clear EP on some whisper white paper. I then brayered baja breeze all over the box (inside and out), and sponged with a bit of Not Quite Navy to give it even more dimension.

Once the paper was created, I used the smallest Label 1 Nestability to create a window in the front of the box with a transparency. I then used the next size up label 1 to create the flap, folded it in half, punched the slit in the top, and added the white satin ribbon.

Finally, I added a butterfly from KSS multi step butterflies set stamped with baja breeze, not quite navy and close to cocoa. To give it the finishing touch, I added the white candy covered almonds! mmmmmmmmm!

Please head on over to see all the other creation the Crew members have created week for you!!

Also, don't forget about the on going 10% off your purchase at the Kitchen Sink Stamps Store. All you have to do is use the promotion code of CONNIE10KSS. How fun it that! Gotta love a discount!!Hope you have a great day!!Thanks so much for visiting today!! Have a great week!

ODBD August Sneak Peek!!

I am so excited about ODBD's release for August, and I have a sneak peek for you today!! I used three DTGD09 challenges from yesterday to create this project:

DTGD09craftycaro - Anything but Average - a card or project that is NOT the normal A2 size - obviously this is not A2 sized.
DTGD09BevMom- Sew Unexpected! - sewing on you card - My first time ever!! I sewed the border!
DTGD09debdeb--Moved by the Music - use a song as inspiration - When ever I see this verse I think of a hymn we sing often "This Is The Day The Lord Has Made."
I had so much fun working with my Bind-it-all last weekend doing the Mother Teresa Quote Book, I just had to use it again. Only this time, not for a book, but instead for this...well...I am not sure what to call it, but I had fun doing it anyway! LOL!!

The image and verse are from the new ODBD set called Happy Birthday. I colored the image with copics. I then sponged all the layers with some Tim Holtz Ranger Tea Dyed Distress ink to give it an aged/vintage look. Next, I added these GREAT vintage frames from Making Memories around my verses, and a Tim Holtz Foliage brad with added crystal blue brad by the image. I finished it off by sewing the border, and then using the bind-it-all to put it together!

Thanks so much for visiting today! Hope you have a great day!!

I Got to do More DTGD09 Challenges!!

Yep, I was able to do all of the DTGD09 challenges today...all within two cards!! This first card used four challenges: DTDG09Scrapnextras - Previous theme: Learning Your ABC's! - to use monogram/alphabet sets on your card; DTGD09cindy_haffner Sketch Challenge; DTGD09blondie090277 - Paper Tole; and DTGD09StamperSharon: What’s black & white & red all over? - black and white cards with a pop of red.

Love, love, love this great sketch from Cindy!! For my paper tole, I used the 3 Step Hearts & Roses stamp set from Kitchen Sink Stamps. I stamped it four times, cut out the different layers, and popped them up on dimensionals. Then stamped the sentiment with KSS's Mix it up - Monogram & Alphabet.

For my second card, the four challenges were: DTGD09Lauraly ~ Previous Theme: Tie One On! - to use ribbon on your card; DTGD09TruCarMa ~ Previous Theme: Good Enough to Eat! - use a food image on your card; DTGD09DeborahLynneS ~ Taken with Texture!; and DTGD09basilefamily - The Happiest Hour - which was an inspiration challenge, picture can be seen here.

I was VERY inspired by this picture. I soooo don't ever use bold bright colors...not that I don't like them, they are just not what I reach for all the time. This gave me the chance to use some poor neglected colors. In fact, this is the first time I have used my Green Galore ink pad...it was still in it's wraper...and I think I bought it over two years ago! LOL! I also picked up on the citrus fruit in the picture, which also qualifies for the "Good Enough to Eat" challenge. The images and sentiment are from Flourishes Life, Love and Lemons set.
Now for Deb's texture challenge, if you squint your eye and look closely, you can see that I ran the white label 1 nestabilities and white strip of paper under the images through my big shot with a SU texturz polka dotted plate. The large circle brads are also textured, as it the ribbon across the top...which work for the final challenge from Laurie!

Whew!! I am tired just typing all of this! LOL!! Thanks so much for visiting today! Have a great weekend!!

DTGD09 Day 1 - I Got to Play!!

So there were 8 different Dare to get dirty challenges posted today, and I was able to do all of them with just two cards/projects!! This card is one of those projects! It is for DTGD09genie1314 - to incorporate a tag on your card, DTGD09One_Happy_Stamper - the sketch challenge for today, and DTGD09sf9erfan - for the boys...a masculine card 1, 2, 3...one piece of DP, two stamps and three colors (plus a neutral if you choose)

The image I chose for this card is Quite Waters from ODBD, which I think, makes wonderful masculine cards! The three colors I chose are old olive, baja breeze and creamy caramel, and he one piece of DP is from a Deja View package. I colored the image with copics, distress all the edges, sponged the base of the card, and added some antique brass brads and twill tape. I finished off the card with the sentiment tag. There you go...three challenges in one card!

Thanks so much for visiting!! I hope to play some more tomorrow...and I will be posting the other project I did today on Monday...so make sure to come back then (it uses 5 of today's challenges in one project!)
