The Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers #188 - W is for Watercolour

Doesn't Edna look lovely in her water colour garden! Yes, we're playing with W is for Watercolour over at The Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers and we want YOU to come and play along!

I created a watery, smooshy inked background and then got busy inking and colouring with some Picket Fence stamps.

I added a tiny piece of washi tape to 'ground' the girls.

The sisters, and our new Queen, have created some fabulous water colour themed creations and would love you to come and play along.

The Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers Challenge #187 - T is for Texture

We're getting all touchy-feely as we start a fun, new challenge over at The Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers today. We's like to see some texture on your cards for this one.

I had just tooooo much fun with this theme and broke out a cute WOW stencil to create the centre of my card. I mixed embossing paste with Distress inks in citrus shades and couldn't believe how beautifully fruity the resulting mixture looked. I then added some Diamond Stickles and spread the mixture through the stencil.

What a pity we're suffering invisible sparkle syndrome again. I stamped the sentiment and the fruit slices from Concord & 9th set Hugs in Rose Gold  embossing powder - it looks so pretty.

Such great Summer colours if I say so myself!

The sistahs, and our fabulous guest, Tristan, have had a riot with this theme, so please come take a look and join the fun!

Let's Squash It! Challenge #9 - Use a Nature Themed Embossing Folder and Watercolour.

It's the tenth day of the month so that can only mean one thing: a new challenge over at Let's Squash It! For our challenge this month we're all about watercolour AND nature and would love to see a nature themed EF and a watercolouring technique. As always we have a Technique Time post on offer to help galvanise your mojo!

I used this stunning EF called Shell Beauty from Spellbinders. I was so lucky to find this folder as it seems to be out of stock in most online stores. The quality of the embossed image is really impressive.

I smooshed the raised parts of the embossing folder pattern with a few different Distress Inks and then spritzed with water before running the folder through my embossing machine. For such an easy technique I think you'll agree it's a good result.

To add a little extra 'oomph' I then carefully pressed a Versamark embossing pad onto the raised parts of the image and then heat embossed with a sparkly powder. The effect is amazing, but just doesn't photograph because we all know how shy sparkle can be when you point a camera at it!

We have a brilliant card on show from our guest, Marlena, and I hope you'll come and play along!

Here's what I made using a Newton's Nook stencil (Serene Stripes) and dies and sentiment from MFT set Cup of Love.

I decided to go with mismatched crockery from a variety of stamp sets and quite like the finished effect.

My card went winging it's way across the globe to Jeanne in MN, USA.

I was lucky enough to receive this beautiful card from Dawn in New Zealand.

Christmas Kickstart Challenge #51 - The Stocking were Hung by the Chimney with Care

It's time for another fun challenge here at Christmas Kickstart! It's less than six months to Christmas, people!

I'm delighted to be joined this month by the very talented Cindy C from Escape to Stamping. If you're not familiar with Cindy's work please head on over to her blog and take a look as her style is so pretty and feminine.

Our theme for this month is:

Challenge #51 - The Christmas Stockings
were hung by the Chimney with Care

Yes, it's all about Christmas Stockings - the chimney or fireplace is purely optional!

I kept things really simple for my first card with a piece of Tim Holtz Christmas paper plus some die cuts and a teeny stocking stamp from a magazine freebie.

To be honest I'm just not sure about card #2.

I used a Sue Wilson die called Stocking Gift Card Holder but was really disappointed that the bell detail at the end of the stocking didn't cut. I rescued things with some snowflakes and stars, but it's just not doing it for me.

Rudolph has been shopping again and has a gorgeous festive stamp set as the prize for his Random Raffle.

Cindy and I really hope you'll feel inspired by this them and look forward to seeing your festive creations in the gallery!
