Love

This is my second post of the day...not sure I have ever achieved that before!!  My craft goal this year was to make more cards for charitable organizations.  I actually managed to send about 16 cards to the Send A Smile For Kids organization for this past Christmas.  I was pretty excited that I managed to do that...time just gets away from you and your well intentioned plans usually fall by the wayside!!  Another organization that I wanted to make cards for was Operation Write Home.  You create cards for the military troops that are fighting for our freedom, so they can in turn use those cards to send to their loved ones back home!  (No local Hallmark in their neck of the woods to buy them!!!)  Anyway...love cards are one of the most frequent request of the soldiers, so I used this Bugaboo Stamp image to create a card to send to them.  Now I only need to duplicate that about 15 times!!  I am going to do it!!  Thanks for stopping by to take a peek!!

Valentine Treats

About a year & a half ago, I bought a kit from Close To My Heart called "Who's Your Valentine".  I thought the Valentine Treat containers would be fun to make for my grandchildren.  It was not yet close to Valentine's Day when I ordered the kit, so I laid it up when it arrived, and then forgot about it until it was well past Valentine's Day 2013 & I was cleaning/reorganizing my craft room!  I can just hear many of you saying..."Oh Yeah"...I've done that before!!  Anyway, when I rediscovered the kit, I was aggravated at myself that I hadn't used it, so I laid it on top of my craft room desk and would not move it until I used it this Valentine's Day!  The kit came with some Valentine colored papers, a cute set of Valentine/Love stamps, 12 tubes, 12 prescored boxes, and some general suggestions of what to do with them!  I've really never made a project other than cards & scrapbook pages, but I set about creating these treat containers no matter what, and ended up enjoying myself in the process.  The kit came with 12 treat tubes, and I completed 7 of them, one for each of my 7 grandchildren.  I think I'm going to complete the other 5, fill them with candy, and set them out around my workplace for my coworkers to enjoy.  Below is a picture of five of my favorites!  Hope you enjoy...thanks for stopping by to take a peek!

Sweet Valentine

I have less than a month to make Valentine Day cards, so I thought I better get cracking on them!!  If nothing else, I needed one for my husband.....since Valentine's Day is also our wedding anniversary!  Yep, you heard it...we must have been crazy!  It's nearly impossible for us to celebrate our anniversary by going out to dinner on the actual date, because every other couple in the world is trying to do the same with their significant other!!  We usually just wait & go a few days later.  Anyway, I thought I would try to challenge myself to make a card almost entirely white, or close to it.  This was very stressful for me, but I wanted to try new things this year, and I actually ended up liking what I did.  The white panel in the back was embossed with Cuttlebug's Decorate Tile folder.  The second smaller panel was embossed with Sizzix folder..don't know the name. I put some double-sided foam tape in between the two to make the card have some dimension.  The heart was cut using Spellbinder's Vines of Passion, ( I just bought it for myself this year after seeing it on someone's blog) and I framed it with Spellbinder's Lace Doily Motif die, and popped that layer up also with some pop dots. Then I just added some white pearls on the heart, some red ones on the doily, and added my sentiment "Sweet Valentine" from My Creative Time's Teeny Tiny Tag set.  Thanks for stopping by to take a peek!
