Use A Vintage Item @ Little Red Wagon

This week at

challenge is to use a vintage item on your project. This one had me stumped for a bit....I have about as much vintage as... well...um...well...hmmm...as someone who doesn't have very much vintage stuff.

But I came across a little find so I was able to make something for the challenge. (Okay, I would have made something for the challenge anyway but I totally would have cheated and used something that was vintagey looking instead of something that was actually vintage. And I may, or may not have admitted to cheating.)

Okay, so here it is...

Now this is actually an ATC. (Okay, where the heck did my cursor go? I must say, it's pretty darn difficult to type without one, especially for a person who does a ton a backspacing, editing and deleting in the course of one blog post.) And, of course the vintage items are those stamps. (At least I'm really, really hoping they're vintage. I'm not a Philatelist so I really don't have a clue....and that does extend to many...hey my cursor's back!...many other things besides stamps.)

So why not dig waaaaaaay deep into your stash
head over to Little Red Wagon and enter the "Use A Vintage Item" challenge? And be sure to check out the fabulous projects the other Girlfriends created.

I'm betting at least one (ahem, Joanne...and I totally did that sneeze-say-a-word-at-the-same-time thing there) of them cheated this week. :-)

I don't like butterflies.

Nope, I don't. Now I do realize this might make me seem strange(r) but I don't like 'em. They're too much akin to moths, and those buggers creep me out. Plus, I'm pretty sure butterflies don't like me so there's another strike against them.

But, I do like butterflies on cards. Yep, they're right pretty then.

Use Chipboard @ Little Red Wagon

This week at

the challenge is to use chipboard in any manner you want. Now, I have to admit, chipboard is something that I seem to have enough of but never use. For this challenge I didn't have any specific creation in mind so I dumped all my chipboard out on my desk and took a look.

There were the usual suspects in shapes: hearts, arrows and banners but I also had these strange triangle half-cloud looking pieces that had me saying, "What the heck are these and why on earth would I buy them?"

But suddenly a plan formed in my itsy-bitsy brain. I remembered seeing this card at The Spotted Chick so I decided to scraplift it big time.

And this is what I came up with:

Yep, decided that those chipboard cloudy-thingies would make good bushes and inked 'em up with some green ink. The sheep digis are from MelonHeadz.

So why don't you head over to Little Red Wagon and enter the "Use Chipboard" challenge? And be sure to check out the fabulous projects the other Girlfriends created.

I bet their projects are so good they're baaaaaaaaaaaa-d.

I'm all kinds of dumb

Yep, I sure am. 'Cause after blogging for about two years I finally clicked on the "Compose" button on top of a posting window and found this method of posting. Previously I posted under the "Edit Html" button. So now if I want to have text

in the centre of my post

or if I want to change my font, or change the size or even the colour it's so so easy and I don't have to google html code and then still not be able to do the aforementioned tricks.

Geez. *sigh*

Anyway, I do have a card.

Digi is another Wryn from Tiddly Inks. And that flower is made out of fabric, just so you know.

For:

Tiddly Inks: sparkle it up
The Spotted Chick: use kraft
Allsorts: anything goes

Do You Stack Up?: layers
Paper-Crafting Journey: make it cute
Divas By Design: wings & things

The Crazy Challenge: use a die or punch
The Pink Elephant: print it
Lollipop Crafts: anything goes
The Kraft Journal: kraft paper + fantastic finds - that fabric fat quarter, it's the only fabric I've got!
Deep Ocean: pink & brown
Digital Tuesday: make it sparkle
Papertake Weekly: get krafty
Crafty Sentiments: use only 2 designer papers

Halfway Inspiration @ UnstampaBelles

Well we're a little more than midway through the month so there's still lots of time to enter the "Recycle/Frugal" challenge at UnstampaBelles. So any kind of papercraft goes......just don't use any stamps.

Here's my card:

"What's recycled on that?" you ask. Well I'll tell you. The bling was scavenged off an epic-fail card that got pitched (with gusto, I might add), the ribbon was a piece of scrap destined for the "circular file" AND see the word "pieces" at the bottom there? Well, there's a bit of a story behind that.......

When my dad retired from his job with the government approximately 15 years ago he took a couple of things with him (besides the extended health benefits and the government pension). One was some log books, (just what they sound like, hardcover books with lined paper inside), the other was a Dymo Label Maker. (Hey, I'm not condoning thievery, I'm just telling a story here.)

The other day my dad was cleaning up some stuff to go to the garbage and I happened to show up in the middle of his cleaning. I walked in just as he picked up the Dymo. Then, it was all like it happened in slow-motion. As he just started to throw the DLM (yep, I'm shortening it to an acronym for the purpose of this post) into the bag with the rest of the garbage, I yelled out, "noooooooo" (and yes, it sounded just like that really deep, distorted "nooooo" you hear on tv shows when things are in slow-motion). I quickly ('cause normal-motion started again) grabbed the DLM, clutched it to my breast and hightailed it out of there.

Now it has a place of honour in my scrappy area.

And, just so you know, it's not any old standard DLM - nuh uh. It's a Dymo Hobbist 1895 (which coincidentally is the year they were first produced, I'm thinkin').

Now don't hate on me 'cause I have one and you don't. You can still buy these bad boys on the 'net. Shipping will cost you 7 X what it's worth but it'll be well....ummm...worth it. (Okay, it really won't be worth it. Go ahead and hate on me.)

And when you're done that why don't you head over and enter the "Recycled/Frugal" challenge at UnstampaBelles. You have until March 3rd to do so and you'll have the chance to win a great prize package from Cardmaking Online.

Just remember, no stamps!Link
And if you need some more inspiration, head over to the challenge site and check out all the great projects the other dt members have come up with.
