Let's Get Inky! @ Little Red Wagon

This week at

it's Mandy's turn to choose the challenge and she's saying, "Let's Get Inky!" and what she means by that is that she wants to see us use our inks for something other than just stamping.

And, I think she also means, "Ha ha ha ha ha, Jan, good luck with this one! *insert evil laughter here*". If you've noticed, I'm not really an inky gal. Heck, I almost never use inks, only ink I usually use is what's in my printer. That's okay, I'll get my revenge on her though.....when it's my turn to host for my next three challenges I'm thinking I'll go with, "Masculine", "Shabby Chic" and "No Lawn Fawn or Mama Elephant Products Allowed". *insert my evil laughter here*

Anyhoo, I did manage to pull something off for the challenge.....I did a modified Magical Masking Tape technique. It's modified because I couldn't find the masking tape. And when my kids were asked who took it, they told me that that pesky imp Not Me must have struck again. Yep, Not Me is making projects with masking tape AND my left handed scissors (Don't even get me started on that!! I'll bet Not Me isn't even left handed....like everyone else in my house except for me.) and having a blast. But I digress. I used washi tape rather than masking tape. Got a much smoother lay down of ink, I'm thinking, but that's more what I wanted anyway.....

I also heat embossed the sentiment. I figured if I was going to get ink out anyways might as well make it worthwhile.

I don't know what's with my dark photos lately, whether there's something up with my camera or I just am picking the wrong time of day to take pictures or what.  Sadly I had to mail this one straight away so I couldn't wait to try to get a better one.

I'm betting you're not as ink-phobic as I am so, why not whip something up and then head on over to Little Red Wagon and link up. And, while you're there, be sure to check out the wonderful projects the other Girlfriends have created.

Back To School! @ Melonheadz Friends

For the next two weeks at

http://melonheadzfriends.blogspot.ca/

we're got that typical end-of-August challenge going on....."Back to School!" So, let's see those return to the classroom projects.

This is what I did....

I made a corner bookmark. Love this sweet little freebie.  If you'd like to see all the fabulous Melonheadz images though, just click on over to the Etsy shop.  Added a little Glossy Accents to the heart as my sweet little (though at 11 she's really not little anymore) reader loves to run her finger over Glossy Accented things.  (Have to admit I've done that a time or two myself!)

So, why not make something for back to school and enter the challenge? And be sure to check out what the rest of the DT has made.

it's Donna's turn to choose the challenge and she's going super easy on you.....it's "Happy Birthday" which means she wants to see those birthday projects, of course!

This is what I did.....

Sorry for the dull photo, it's a dank day here but I didn't want to be any later than I already am!  Love this sweet image from Birdie Brown. Really wish she still had her shop open.

You know you could always use another birthday card in your stash. So, why not whip one up and then head on over to Little Red Wagon and link up. And, while you're there, be sure to check out the wonderful projects the other Girlfriends have created.

Back To School! @ Tiddly Inks

For the next two weeks at

we're saying it's "Back To School!" time so we want to see those projects all about school....using a Tiddly Inks image, of course!

Tell the truth I didn't realize until these last few years that not all students go back to school in September, like we do here....in fact the majority of Canadian schools welcome their students back in September, after Labour Day. But, from reading blogs, I've noticed that some kids go back at various times in August. I'm very curious to know when the students in your area get back to the books....would love it if you left me a comment about it!

Okay, now that I've given you homework (tee hee), I'll show you what I made to celebrate back to school.....I went quite literal (and punny) with it.....

It's a little wordy, sure, but once the idea popped into my head I had to go with it.  I used Whale Of a Time....no colouring needed - ha!  I also used a digi paper freebie from Mein Lila Park for my school of fish (see what I did there....*snicker*).  Love their expressions.

I think I'm going to put this on my oldest's pillow after he leaves for his first day of Grade 10 so he can see it when he gets home.  'Coz all 15 year old boys love rib-tickling pun and cutesy cards, right?

So why not show us your back to school project  and enter the challenge?  And be sure to also check out the fabulousness the DT has come up with.

Happy Heart - Fab Friday @ Tiddly Inks

Past midway though August....where has the summer gone?!?! It's just flew by this year, probably mostly due to the fact that I took on another job (making that five) and am now working full time+. Not complaining, we do what we gotta do, right? But I haven't had the summertime time I've got to enjoy with my kids as in past years so it's kinda feels like there's been no summer at all. My kids haven't been complaining either....not sure if I should see that as a good thing (meaning they're being understanding) or a bad thing (meaning they couldn't care less about spending time with their mama).

Really, all that has nothing to do with my card though. So, without further ado, here it is....

I used Wryn - Happy Heart.  Isn't it the cutest?  Who could resist her and her happy, happy heart.  Not me!

Make sure you go check out the other fabulous Fabby Friday makes the rest of the DT has come up with.  You can see 'em all right here.

Surf's Up @ Little Red Wagon

This week at

it's Brenda's turn to choose the challenge and she's say "Surf's Up!" because she wants to see projects with a tropical theme.....quite fitting seeing as she's from Hawaii and all!

This is what I did....

Okay, I know. I'm not setting a really great DT example here.  I could blame it on the fact that I'm from Midwestern Ontario which is pretty much as untropical as you can get.  I could blame it on my craft mojo who thought it might look cool to leave the fish panel all in black & white and just add Stickles and Glossy Accents instead of colouring them cool tropical colours which would have made this last paragraph unnecessary.  Or I could just own it, say "it is what it is" and move on.

And promise to be more on-point with next week's challenge.

Why not add getting all tropical and then head on over to Little Red Wagon and link up.  And, while you're there, be sure to check out the wonderful projects the other Girlfriends have created.

Add Die Cuts/Punches @ Melonheadz Friends

For the next two weeks at

http://melonheadzfriends.blogspot.ca/

we've got an easy one for you. The challenge is Add Die Cuts/Punches which is pretty durn self-explanatory.

This is what I did....

Sorry for the not-so-nice photo. I always have a real problem taking pics of white cards.  I used an image from the
