Fore You - Fab Friday @ Tiddly Inks

Wow, it's been quite some time since I posted a Fab Friday.....so it's been quite some time since I've made some sort of comment about a Friday.  And......I've got nothing.  Just a regular ole Friday, last one in February.  Yep......

Okay, movin' on.  So, here's a card.....

It's another cas one, it is.  I used watercolour paper for this rather than my usual textured, but didn't do any watercolouring, just used my trusty Prismacolors.  Think I'm gonna have to do that again a time or two, I quite like the look.

I used Father's Day - Vintage Truck where you get images of not only this golf bag, but an older-style truck and a sentiment ALL FOR $1.00.  It doesn't get much better than that.

Make sure you go check out the other fabulous Fabby Friday makes the rest of the DT has come up with.  You can see 'em all right here.

Also for:

Alphabet Challenge:  Y for you choose
Moving Along With the Times:  for a man
Addicted To CAS:  wood - Kraft paper and wood clubs...pretty sure there  1, 3 & 5 woods in that bag.  😀
Get Creative:  red + one other colour
Simon Says:  anything goes
Watercooler Challenges:  masculine

Down On the Farm @ Little Red Wagon

This week at

it's my turn to choose the challenge and we're going "Down On the Farm"! That just means that I want to see projects with a farm theme.....could be a farm animal, farm machinery, crops, buildings etc. etc. etc.

This is what I did....

Made this for my oldest's birthday. Told him Doug (his ram) found himself a scooter and a hat. Then I laughed and laughed while he just shook his head and wondered what awful thing he'd done in a past life to end up with such a corny mom.  Digi is from Skapar Kallarn.  (That's the Etsy shop, you can find their digis on Facebook too.)

Speaking of sheep.....it's lambing season at his barn.  Currently there's been 56 little lambies born.  And, I tell ya, they're pretty darn cute.  (Really wanted to post the slightly longer video he had that shows almost all the lambs but it was too long for him to send me.  😞)

We haven't let any of them have a go with the scooter though.  We're still needing to buy a helmet.  Safety first.

Why don't you find your inner farm girl (or boy) and then head on over to Little Red Wagon and link up?  And, while you're there, be sure to check out the wonderful projects the other Girlfriends have created.

Season of Love @ Little Red Wagon

This week at

it's Heather's turn to choose the challenge and she's got a fun one, that's for sure! She's saying it's the "Season of Love" which might make you think that she wants to see Valentine's Day makes.....well, it's not like your creation couldn't be a Valentine's Day project, it certainly could, but she's all about what you love. What she wants you to do is use a product (or products) from a company you love. Told you it was fun!

This is what I did.....

Now, strap in, coz it's going to take awhile for me to break down all the ways I'm gonna tie this into the luuuuurve.....

So, I've got a freebie digi from Melonheadz....I've always loved Nikki's digis, they were some of the first I owned, plus - hello - freebie!  I used my Inktense pencils to colour it up.....I do love them even if they don't love me.  (Given my lack of talent for using them I don't begrudge them that at all!)  I got out an embossing folder, and I totally have an embossing folder fetish, so more love there.  Got some patterned paper on there too....I think my 100 patterned paper pads shows how much I love patterned paper. (Yes, I said 100, I just counted them.  I'm more than a little shocked, it certainly does not look like I have 100 patterned paper pads.  But my recount says that, yes, yes I do have 100 6x6 patterned paper pads.  Now, before you go judgin', you might want to do some inventory of your fave crafting items.  You might say, "Well, holy s%&t" about the amount too.)

Let's see, what else....oh yes, doesn't that lil digi remind you of a Warm Fuzzy?  You guys remember Warm Fuzzies, don't you?  I loved Warm Fuzzies when I was a kid.  I used to make 'em and draw them.  In case you don't have a clue about what I'm talking about here's a pic.....

Not too many pictures around....Warm Fuzzies pre-date the Internet after all.  And finally, one last bit of love.....this was the card I gave to my middlest for Valentine's Day, and I love him to bits and pieces, of course.

There, I think I sufficiently spread the love around, didn't I?  Why don't you do the same and then head on over to Little Red Wagon and link up?  And, while you're there, be sure to check out the wonderful projects the other Girlfriends have created.

Use Red and/or Pink & Black @ Little Red Wagon

This week at

it's Sandy's turn to choose the challenge and she's going with a very timely colour challenge....she wants to see projects using red and/or pink and black.

This is what I did....

Another cas card, I'm on a bit of a roll with them.  Coloured on kraft for this one....why don't I do this more often??  Digi is from Tiddly Inks.

So why not use some red, pink and black and then head on over to Little Red Wagon and link up?  And, while you're there, be sure to check out the wonderful projects the other Girlfriends have created.

Love @ Tiddly Inks

This month at

....now before I get on with it I just want to check and make sure you all see the "this month" at the top of my post. Yep, Tiddly Inks has moved to a monthly challenge format. So, that'll give you lots of time to enter. We're gonna do a Fab Friday once a month too, just so you can get a good Tiddly fix.

Now, as I was saying.....this month the challenge is all about the love. Or as I said it in my head when I titled this post, "luuuuuuuuuuurve". Perfect timing to get those Valentine's Day makes made. And that what I did....

I used a fave Tiddly of mine....Wryn - Close To My Heart.  Isn't she precious?  Still making good on my decision to make more cas cards.  This isn't super cas, but it sure has way less patterned paper and layers than what I'd normally use.  Plus I always like it when I actually use my embossing folders, seeing as I have about 30 of them and they hardly ever get pulled off the shelf.  Okay, in the interest of being accurate I just went and counted my embossing folders.  I don't have 30, I have 48.  And eight of those are still in the package.  But I used one of them for this, so......yay, good for me?

So, why not spread the luuuuurve and join us for the challenge?  And be sure to also check out the fabulousness the DT has come up with.

GDT @ CAS On Sunday - Colour Challenge

A couple of weeks ago I was all kinds of thrilled when my card was chosen as the winner at

And I was even more thrilled that it came with an invite to be a Guest Designer for an upcoming challenge!  Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay!

Now, if you're a Huh. So This Is A Blog regular, you'll know that I generally don't do cas cards.  However, I do very much love cas cards.  I love 'em so much that I declared back at the beginning of January, that I would be making more cas cards this year.  So, this was a great opportunity for me to make good on that declaration.

But, I must admit, I just about DIED when Janneke sent me the challenge theme.....it was a colour challenge.  Not that there was anything wrong with the colours....they're absolutely lovely, just take a boo....

See, lovely.  It's just that I tend to have a mental block when it comes to colour challenges.  Like a giant-sized mental block.  So, the whole "simple" part of the cas acronym immediately took off out the window....at least as far as the thought process portion of the making of the card was concerned.

I thought about it and I thought about it and thought about it and thought about it.  At first I was thinking of doing something with a snowman...but I just couldn't make that happen.  Then, I was stumped.  So I decided to do something I've done in the past when I want to figure out something tough....I put my subconsciousness to the task.

It's not something I'll often do, purposely access my subconscious mind.  My life is fairly uneventful, just the way I like it, so it's not like I ever really have a pressing major problem that I need to get creative about solving.  And, there's another reason I don't rely on my inner id....it's annoying as all heck.

I realize it probably says volumes about me to have irritating in-the-background mind but I'm betting you'd say the same thing about it if you were me.  So, in order to access my subconscious mind (or maybe even partially, my unconscious mind) I give it the problem before I fall asleep, and tell it to have at it.

And that's where the annoying part comes in.  Because rather than slowly and methodically coming up with a solution to whatever task I set for it, this is what my subconscious looks like while problem-solving....

....only there's actually about six of those guys and they all argue with each other.  So, while I usually end up with a solution, I also end up being woke up multiple times in the course of finding that solution.  And I think we can all agree, nobody likes being woke up.  (We can probably also all agree that JanR is slightly whack-a-doo, but that's old news.)

But, after a semi-fitful night sleep, at about 5:00am, all the pieces fell into place when, after hours of brainstorming and the laying forth and rejecting of ideas, with a small pile of usable scraps growing in the corner, one of the six looked at those scraps and screamed, "Yeah, The Love Boat!"  There was silence and gasping, and I think one of them swooned....and then in the morning (well, in the later morning, certainly not at 5am) I got up and made this....

Now, I really hate to sound immodest.....but I love it.  I just love it.  And believe me, there's maybe a one handful of times I've ever said that about something I've made.  Chances are in a week or two, I might look at this card and wonder how I ever thought that.  But, for right this instant, I think it's awesome.  And, I also think it's awesome that I think it's awesome.  I think all of us are guilty of being our own worst critics.  Most of us cardmakers create for ourselves rather than for profit or accolades.  [Yes, most of us give our cards away to others but (at least for me), making cards is much more about the process, and finding joy in that process, than the end result.]  So, if we've pleased ourselves with what we've created....well then, that's a pretty good day's work.

Holy man, how's that for a post, eh?  Waxing philosophical, a crazed muppet and a few rambling paragraphs, all containing way too many grammatically incorrect sentence structures, awkwardly placed commas and ellipses with way too many dots.  It does appear to be missing and all-important thank you though.  A sincere thank you to CAS on Sunday for inviting me to join them this week.  Without your invitation, not only would I not have been able to be featured alongside a fantastically talented DT, I would never in a million year have come up with a card that I truly enjoyed making.  So, hartelijk bedankt.

Do pop over to CAS on Sunday and check out the wonderful cards the DT made.  And, maybe you should let those colours inspire you.  You never know, you might have the same splendid experience that I did!
