Color Throwdown 844-Sweet Birthday Wishes

It's time for another Color Throwdown! Amy is our hostess with a bright and cheerful color combination--pink, aqua, and  yellow.

Sweet Birthday Wishes card-designed by Lori Tecler/Inking Aloud-stamps and dies from My Favorite Things
The layout for my design is based on the current challenge at CAS Colours and Sketches. I started off with a yellow card base, then added a wide fishtail flag strip cut from dotted patterned paper to the center of the cardfront. I used dies from My Favorite Things to create a fun cupcake, complete with gold foil wrapper and a sweet fluffy pink top. After placing the cupcake on a white panel on top of a pile of gold thread, I added it to the cardfront. The "sweet birthday wishes" sentiment stamped on a narrow aqua strip finished off the design.

To play along, just create a paper crafted project using these colors as a starting point and add a direct link to your finished project using the linky tool found at the end of this week's CTD post. As always, if you don’t have exact color matches, something close works just fine. Just be sure that the challenge colors are the dominant ones in your project. And, if you upload your project to an online gallery, use the keyword CTD844. If you upload your projects on social media, go ahead and use the hashtag #ctd844 and #colorthrowdown.  You can find us on Instagram and on Facebook with the username colorthrowdown.  Before you get started, here’s some inspiration from the talented Color Throwdown team.

Color Throwdown 843-Cheers to You on Your Birthday

It's time for another Color Throwdown! Susie is our hostess this week with a bold and bright trio of colors--lime, pink, and orange.

Cheers card-designed by Lori Tecler/Inking Aloud-stamps and dies from My Favorite Things
I used the colors to make a margarita themed birthday design that I've already given to its recipient. The large "cheers" was stamped on a white panel in pink ink, then topped with an orange strip stamped with "to you on your birthday." I used white vellum, lime cardstock and a bit of glitter glue to create the fun margarita element to go with the sentiment. The finished panel was adhered to a matching lime green card base.

Color Throwdown 842-Let's Taco 'bout Your Birthday

It's time for another Color Throwdown! Kelly is our hostess for this week's challenge with a great mix of  colors--green, red, and orange.

Let's Taco 'bout Your Birthday card-designed by Lori Tecler/Inking Aloud-stamps from Lawn Fawn

I needed a birthday card, so I used the colors for this taco themed celebratory card. The tacos and birthday hat were made with Lawn Fawn's Year Nine stamp set. After coloring the stamped images with Copic markers, I cut them out by hand, then  positioned them on a white die cut circle. I placed the circle on an orange card base over a narrow strip of green cardstock edged with an even narrower strip of red cardstock. I stamped the taco themed birthday sentiment on more strips of red cardstock and adhered the text to the left of the images, using foam tape for dimension. The cardstock is super dark, so the sentiment looks more muted than I would have liked, especially in this photo... A trio of orange matte enamel dots arranged around the sentiment and image panel finished off the design.

To play along, just create a paper crafted project using these colors as a starting point and add a direct link to your finished project using the linky tool found at the end of this week's CTD post. Color Throwdown 841-Fall Thank You

It's time for another Color Throwdown! Lisa is our hostess this with a pretty mix of colors--terracotta, navy, and pale blue.

Thank You So Much card-designed by Lori Tecler/Inking Aloud
I added in a little metallic shine for my take on the challenge. After die cutting a trio of leaves with stitched detailing from terracotta cardstock, I partially dipped them in copper embossing powder, heating it for a pretty shine. I arranged the leaves on a pale blue card base with a wide strip of contrasting navy cardstock near the bottom, using foam tape for dimension. A narrow strip of terracotta cardstock edges the bottom of the navy panel to tie the elements together. The "thank you so much" sentiment was heat embossed in the same copper as on the leaves for a final sparkly touch.

To play along, just create a paper crafted project using these colors as a starting point and add a direct link to your finished project using the linky tool found at the end of this week's CTD post. Color Throwdown 840-Sunny Thank You

It's time for another Color Throwdown! Wanda is our hostess with a seasonal photograph for inspiration for this week's colors--red, yellow, and green.

Sunflower thank you card-designed by Lori Tecler/Inking Aloud-stamps and dies from Reverse Confetti
I paired the colors with the current sketch from Sunday Stamps for a cheerful thank you card. My focal image is the flower from Reverse Confetti's Sending Smiles set, styled as a sunflower. I used foam tape to position it on a sunny yellow card base, then tucked pairs of green leaves beneath it. The set's "thank you" sentiment is stamped just above the flower on the right side of the card. A contrasting strip of red on red dotted pattern paper adhered to the left edge of the card finishes the design.

To play along, just create a paper crafted project using these colors as a starting point and add a direct link to your finished project using the linky tool found at the end of this week's CTD post. Color Throwdown 839-Celebrate Today

It's time for another Color Throwdown! Vickie is our hostess this week with a fun mix of colors--aqua, red, and white.

Celebrate Today card-designed by Lori Tecler/Inking Aloud-stamps and dies from The Stamp Market
My sister is celebrating a birthday this week, so I used the colors to make her a birthday card. The colors look great with the Watch Band dies from The Stamp Market! I cut all of the pieces from cardstock scraps and arranged them on a white panel with a strip of aqua striped paper along the bottom. The watch face is adhered with foam tape for dimension and interest. For the sentiment, I stamped the "celebrate today" ring from the coordinating Time to Say stamp set in red ink on the watch face. The finished panel was adhered to an aqua card base to match the watch band and patterned paper panel.

To play along, just create a paper crafted project using these colors as a starting point and add a direct link to your finished project using the linky tool found at the end of this week's CTD post. Color Throwdown 838-Bright Blossoms Thank You

It's time for another Color Throwdown!Lynn is our hostess this week with a beautiful mix of colors--hot pink, peach, and green.

Floral Thank You card-designed by Lori Tecler/Inking Aloud-stamps and dies from Altenew

I used the colors to make a simple floral thank you card. My focal image is a pair of blooms and a bunch of leaves made with Altenew's Bright Blossoms stamps and dies. The die cut images were arranged inside a gold foil frame cut with an Altenew die. For interest, I positioned the flower so two of the leaves extended beyond the frame and used foam tape for the flowers. The "thank you" sentiment from the Sentiment Strips 2 set was stamped in hot pink ink on a narrow white strip. After matting the text on a hot pink strip matching the card base, I used foam tape to place it on the card overlapping the left side of the frame.

To play along, just create a paper crafted project using these colors as a starting point and add a direct link to your finished project using the linky tool found at the end of this week's CTD post. Color Throwdown 837-Just a Note

It's time for another Color Throwdown! It's my turn to be challenge hostess this week and my color trio--yellow, pink, and grey--is inspired by a trio of crochet pencils. I'm learning to crochet and hoping that I might actually be close to having the skills to make myself one of these...

Just a Note card-designed by Lori Tecler/Inking Aloud-stamps and dies from SugarPea Designs
I couldn't resist going with a pencil theme for my card, too. My pencil was made by using Copic markers to add color to a pencil shape I made with a die from SugarPea Designs. I used foam tape to attach the pencil to a stitched circle panel found in my scrap pile, then added it to a white panel over the right side of yellow cardstock strip. To bring in a bit more yellow, I used another die from the same set to make a piece of notebook style paper to tuck beneath the round panel. And, using yet another die from the set, I made a paper clip from a gray cardstock scrap. After knotting a pink ribbon scrap to the top of the clip, I clipped it on to the round panel. For the sentiment, I die cut the word "note" from gray cardstock and glued the letters to the yellow cardstock strip. The "just a" sentiment from SPD's Special Delivery stamp set was stamped above the die cut word in gray ink. I adhered the panel to a pink card base matching the round panel to finish the design.

Color Throwdown 836-Birthday Exclamation

It's time for another Color Throwdown!  Lisa is our challenge hostess with a fun trio of colors--kraft, fuchsia, and orange.

Happy Birthday to You card-designed by Lori Tecler/Inking Aloud-dies from Concord & 9th

I'm trying to get a little bit ahead, so I created a birthday card that I'll give to a colleague during the upcoming school year. My focal image is a large die cut created with the Concord & 9th Exclamation die set. I mixed in all the challenge colors and added foam tape for interest before placing the die over layered circles on a white card base. A few orange enamel dies scattered around the cardfront finished the simple design.

Color Throwdown 835-Floral Birthday

It's time for another Color Throwdown! Susie is our challenge hostess with a fun trio of colors--yellow, green, and turquoise.

Floral Birthday card-designed by Lori Tecler/Inking Aloud-stamps and dies from Reverse Confetti
I paired the colors with the current TGIF Challenge to create a birthday card for a colleague. My focal image is a cluster of flowers and leaves made with Reverse Confetti's Bold Blooms stamps and dies. I used foam tape to attach the flowers to the round panel to add dimension and interest. The round panel is matted on green cardstock for a pop of color, then adhered to a yellow patterned paper panel placed on a contrasting turquoise card base. The "happy birthday" sentiment from RC's Word Up set was stamped on a narrow turquoise strip in turquoise ink to tie in the background color. I placed it over the yellow panel, tucking it underneath the raised blooms, to finish the design.

Color Throwdown 834-All About You

It's time for another Color Throwdown! Amy is our hostess this week with a mix of colors inspired by nature--green, turquoise, and orange.

All About You card-designed by Lori Tecler/Inking Aloud-stamps and dies from Reverse Confetti
I paired the colors with the current challenge at Sunday Stamps to make this floral themed birthday card that I'll be sharing with the recipient today. My focal image is a cluster of poppies made with a stamp/die set from Reverse Confetti. I used foam tape to place the flower trio on a contrasting turquoise panel, then matted it on a slightly larger green square before I adhered it to the lower right corner of a leafy orange patterned paper panel on an orange card base. The "today is all about you" sentiment was stamped in brown ink on a narrow white strip and added to the cardfront with more foam tape.

Color Throwdown 833-Happy Father's Day

It's time for another Color Throwdown! Broni is our hostess this week with a fantastic mix of colors--aqua, gray, and red.

Happy Father's Day card-designed by Lori Tecler/Inking Aloud-stamps and dies from My Favorite Things
I paired the colors with the current challenge at CAS Colours and Sketches for this simple Father's Day design. I used a square punch to cut red and gray cardstock squares, then arranged them on a silver paper square. After topping each square with a die cut pierced star in a contrasting color, I added the panel to a square aqua card base. The "happy Father's Day" sentiment from the My Favorite Things All About Dad stamp set was stamped in black on a narrow red cardstock strip, then placed just beneath the silver square to finish the design.

Color Throwdown 831-Thanks for All You Do

It's time for another Color Throwdown! Tammy is our hostess this week with a floral inspired mix of colors--sage green, yellow, and coral.

Floral Thank You card-designed by Lori Tecler/Inking Aloud-stamps and dies from My Favorite Things
I paired the colors with the current challenge at Sunday Stamps for this thank you card. I made the card with next week's Administrative Professionals Day in mind. I used a set of stitched floral dies from My Favorite Things and scraps of yellow and coral cardstock to make a pair of layered flowers. After assembling the flowers and dotting their centers with white matte enamel dots, I used foam tape to adhere them to a white stitched circle die cut. For the background, I used two different patterned papers, strategically folding down a corner, then carefully adhering and trimming a contrasting pattern, to get the look of double-sided patterned paper. A strip of contrasting coral cardstock sets off the patterned panels from the solid yellow background. I placed the panel on a sage green card base, then added the stamped thank you sentiment on a narrow sage strip to tie the elements together.

Color Throwdown 830-Thank You

It's time for another Color Throwdown! Wanda is our hostess this week with a trio of pastel colors--lavender, mint green, and yellow.

Thank You for Being So Thoughtful card-designed by Lori Tecler/Inking Aloud-stamps and dies from Mama Elephant
I used the colors to make a thank you card. I took some inspiration from all of the round elements in the color swatch and cut a bunch of different sized circles from lavender and mint green cardstock scraps. After arranging the scraps on a yellow card base, I added the die cut and stamped sentiment (from Mama Elephant) over the largest circle using foam tape for dimension. I stamped the rest of the sentiment on a narrow strip of lavender cardstock and positioned it over part of the die cut word, using more foam tape to align it with the height of the die cut. A trio of white matte enamel dots arranged around the lavender strip finished things off.
