My Groovy Bookmark Card and Tutorial

Supplies
Stamps:
Paper:  Stampers Select White CS (Papertrey Ink), Peach Parfait, Pear Pizzazz, Beach Babe DP, Vellum
Ink: Memento Black
Accessories:  Prismacolor Pencils, Mineral Spirits, Blending Stump, Three For You flower punch, scallop edge punch, ticket corner punch, small hole punch, gold ribbon, SU Pearls.

This week's Challenge at Totally Stampalicious is to make a BOOKMARK!  For my bookmark I used the super cool Hippie Dottie Stamp set from the Totally Stampalcious Bugaboo Line.

I used Papertrey Ink Stampers Select White Cardstock for the base and image on this.  I LOVE this paper!  It's a great weight (110 lb) for a card base and it works perfectly for stamping and coloring images!  This is the first time I've tried this paper and I'm so happy with the results!

I struggled a bit with how to attach the bookmark to the card.  I wanted something that would hold the bookmark in place and not cover it up at the same time.  I came up with this idea to create a pocket out of vellum.  It's super easy to do.

Here's a quick tutorial on the pocket.

Step 1:  Make a Square that measures roughly the same as the width of your bookmark.  My bookmark is just under 2 inches so I used a 2 inch square.

Step 2:  Cut the square in half on the diagonal.  I just lined up two points from the square on my paper trimmer and cut.  (Be sure to hold the paper down on both sides of the paper or else it will move and you won't get a straight cut)

Here's what your square will look like
Step 3:  Tape your two triangles together to make a pocket.  For this step I checked the width of the pocket against the width of my bookmark to be sure there was a wide enough opening.  My finished pocket measures 2 7//8 inches wide by 2 inches tall.

Step 3:  Run Tape along all the outside edges and position on your card.

Step 4:  Decorate.

I'm also including this card in the following challenges:

Tiddly Inks Challenge:  Bookmarks
Pixie Dust Studio Challenge:  Tag Time

I had a lot of fun making this bookmark card set!  We have more great bookmark inspiration on the Totally Stampalicious Blog.  I hope you get a chance to play along in our bookmark challenge this week!

This week we have another FUN challenge at Totally Stampalicious.  We want you to use at least three different punches.  Easy Peasy right?  RIGHT!!!!  I actually used a total of 6 different punches for this card.  The adorable image and sentiment are from the newly released Deacon Swing stamp set.  This set is part of the Bugaboo line.

The color combo for this card came right out of the Stampin Up catalog.  Sometimes when I need a color combo I look through the catalog and pick colors from their designer papers.  This color combo is on page 189 of the 2011-2012 catalog.  The DP is Party Animal.  The colors are Marina Mist, Pumpkin Pie, Daffodil Delight, and Poppi Parade.  The first thing my husband said when he saw this card was - Great Colors.  LOL

Totally Stampalicious August Blog Hop

Welcome to the 6th stop of the August New Release and Blog Hop!

We've got FIVE NEW STAMP SETS to share with you from

Jodie Mackerell's Awesome Bugaboo Line and our new Fabulous Sylvia Zet Line!

All FIVE STAMP SETS are available NOW at Totally Stampalicious!

As usual we have some FANTASTIC PRIZES to give away and all you have to do is comment on all of the Design Team's Blogs for your chance to win one of the following:

1st Prize - ALL 5 New Stamp Sets

2nd Prize - $15 Gift Certificate

3rd Prize - $5 Gift Certificate

Next up are the four cards that I made for this month's new release!

My first card for today's HOP is from the Bugaboo Line.  I used the Deacon Swing stamp set for the image and the sentiment.  I colored the image with my Prismacolor Pencils and Mineral Spirits.  These are not my normal go to colors but I think they worked really well with this adorable image!

My second card is also from the Bugaboo Line.  This one is the Fairy Stella stamp set.  I thought Stella would look magical against this squiggly background paper.  The squiggles are actually fuzzy in real life.  I used a sketch from the Cupcake Craft Challenge for the layout on this card.

In case you missed my sneak peeks earlier this week.  Here are my two cards from the Sylvia Zet Line.

First is Franklin Bear.  This bear is so adorable and so much fun to create with!

Last but not least is the Musical Dexter card.

Please note that due to an error in the file we sent to our manufacturer, there are spelling mistakes on a sentiment on both the Fairytale Charlotte and Musical Dexter sets and so both sets are selling for a discounted price of $7.95. The images/sentiments still stamp perfectly!

Now it's time to hop on over to Lynda's Blog to see what awesome inspiration she has come up with!

Here is the entire line-up just in case there are any glitches along the way!

Thanks for stopping by and commenting on my Blog Hop post!  Good Luck!!!!!

A Shape Challenge and a Sneak Peek...

This Thursday Totally Stampalicious is having a New Release and Blog Hop!  Today I'm sharing a sneak peak of a new stamp set that will be released on Thursday.  The set is called Musical Dexter.  Our challenge this week is a shape challenge.  We want you to use at least 1 circle, 1 square, and 1 rectangle on your creation.  I hope my rectangle still counts even though I made a little slit at the bottom.  I've been seeing these ribbon cuts (if that's what they're called) and wanted to try one out.  I used my Photo Corner Punch to make the slit!  I decided to keep the layout clean and simple on this one.

Supplies
Stamps:  Musical Dexter
Ink:  Momento Tuxedo Black, Prismacolor Pencils
Paper:  Old Olive Textured CS, Elegant Eggplant, Bazzill Coconut Swirl, SU In colors DP
Accessories:  Scalloped Edge Punch, Circle Punches, Chalk, Mineral Spirits, Blending Stump

I colored Dexter with my NEW coloring pencils (Prismacolor).  I love how the image turned out.  I used mineral spirits and a stump to blend the color.  I sponged chalk in the background of the image and the sentiment to give it a distressed look.

Here's a close up of Dexter:
