Just Us Girls #404 - Wild Card Week: Something Old/Something New

Hey friends!  It's Wild Card Week over at Just Us Girls.  Since there are five Saturdays in July, the hostess can choose any type of challenge she wants.  Ina is our hostess and she chose to have us use something old and something new on our cards.

So for my something new, I used this new Sunshine turnabout stamp set from Concord & 9th.  I have three of these, and they really are so cool!  I also used four new ink colors:  one from Simon Says Stamp and the other three from Altenew.  The old is the Spellbinders die I've had forever and the sentiment stamp.  It's from MFT and it's still in their store, but I've had it for a while (I thought it was retired!).  I used the Garden Green cardstock from SU (another something old) because I was thinking this could be a masculine card, but then the pink ink jumped out at me!  So I spritzed it with shimmer spritz and added sequins and it's now a card for a female!  Can you imagine all the color combinations possible for this turnabout stamp?  Can't wait to play with it some more!

You can see more from the JUGs DT and our July guest, Aileen, on the JUGs blog.  It's her last week as our guest and I'd like to extend a thanks to her for being such a fabulous guest!

Thanks for stopping by!

CAS-ual Fridays Challenge #179 - Dies Only

Hi friends!  There's a new challenge at CAS-ual Fridays.  This time it's to use dies only...no stamps!  Let's see what you can do!
No automatic alt text available.

I decided to make a tag.  Since I couldn't use any stamps for a sentiment and I didn't have any CAS-ual Fridays sentiment dies (???), I used this paper with birthday greetings on it to get my message across.  The tag was cut from this paper and white cardstock as well to give it some stability.  Then I wanted to use these flower dies, but I wanted to add some interest.  I pulled out some watercolor paper scraps and my Color Burst powders and created some watercolored paper.  I die cut the flowers and leaves from these papers and layered them together with an enamel dot in the center.  The flower was added to the tag along with some ribbon and twine.  That paper used for the middle flower was created with yellow ochre Color Burst.  There are a bunch of colors in it!  I didn't expect that, but I went with it anyway.

Time Out #88 - Inspired by Words

Hello everyone!  The current challenge over on the Time Out blog is the Inspired by Words challenge.  Here's the quote to get you inspired:

If you have good thoughts they will shine out of your face like sunbeams and you will always look lovely.

I was inspired by the word sunbeams and used this rays stencil to start with.  I used three of the distress oxide inks.  Once I inked up the stencil, I spritzed it with water to get the oxide look and some water droplet marks.  When that was dry, I stamped the sentiment and spritzed it with shimmer spritz.  The word die was die cut four times and layered.   It too was spritzed with shimmer spritz.  I mounted this on a black mat and added some clear sequins.  This sentiment was inspired by the quote too.

CAS(E) this Sketch #231

Hey friends!  I've had to make a sympathy card for a friend's sister who recently passed.  She loved daisies, so this is what I made and sent to my friend and her nephew (it was his mom who passed).  I die cut this daisy, one in each size, and layered it.  I also die cut the yellow center and green leaves.  I mounted the flower on this pretty gingham pinked square.  It's hard to see, but I used a diamond shape impression plate on the white mat.  The sentiment was stamped in Versamark on a yellow banner and embossed with white powder.  This whole panel was spritzed with shimmer spray.  I love the softness of the shimmer.

I used this sketch again from CAS(E) this Sketch.

Just Us Girls #403 - Photo Week

Hello friends!  It's time for another challenge over at Just Us Girls and this week is our Photo challenge.  Look at the fun summery photo Bobby chose.

I started by stamping this watermelon image from an older Stamp-a-Faire PTI set.  It's a three-step image.  I stamped the leaves/rind in green, then the meat of the watermelon in red, and the seeds in black.  Then I pulled out a scrap of the red check pattern paper and die cut a pinked edge square.  Once that was done, I took a piece of watercolor paper and used the same green ink to paint a square-ish splotch on it, big enough to accommodate the checked piece.  I layered this on top of a black banner which grounds it.  I stamped the sentiment and added sequins.  There's glossy accents on the seeds and shimmer on the watermelon.

I used this sketch from CAS(E) this Sketch.
