Time Out #147 - Inspired by Words

Hello all!  My post today is a reminder for our current Time Out challenge.  It's our Inspired by Words challenge and the quote is "Dream Big, Be Grateful, Give Love, Laugh Lots".

We are sponsored by Uniko for this challenge, so I used some of their products on this card.  I started by creating the square background for the floral image.  I used the new Masking Squares stencil from Taylored Expressions to get the square shape by adding color using spiced marmalade distress oxide ink.  Then I laid the Tiger Print stencil by Uniko over it and used the same ink.  It made the stripes a darker shade of the spiced marmalade.  Then I stamped the floral image from Uniko's Just Because stamp set in a dark brown color.  (It looks black, but it's actually brown.)  I stamped the sentiment (from C. Pooler) in the same brown ink.  I love how the stripes seem to go through the floral image.  I didn't expect that result.

Now I have to come clean about the next two cards.  When I was making the card for this challenge, I was so focused on using the sponsor's products (Uniko), that I totally forgot to keep with the Inspired by Words challenge.  This happens a lot!  So, I made the next two cards first using the same procedure as above except I used bundled sage distress oxide ink.  These sentiments don't actually go well with the challenge quote!  I always need sympathy cards, so they won't go to waste, but I need to get my head together when making cards for my challenges!  LOL!

Seize the Birthday #177

Hi friends!  I'm sharing a birthday card today.  I created the floral spray a long time ago.  I had the turnabout stamp in my MISTI and went crazy with different color combos.  I think I created about 8-10 different floral sprays that day!  This was one of them, and I think one of my favorites.  I die cut it with a stitched rectangle and die cut the sentiment three times and stacked it.  It was added to the main panel and is covered with shimmer.  Crystals finished it off.  It was adhered to a navy panel then onto a white card base.

I'm entering this into the Seize the Birthday "Anything Goes" challenge.

Just Us Girls #511 - Photo Week

Hello everyone!  It's Photo Week at Just Us Girls and Bobby chose this pretty fall photo.

I made quite a few Halloween cards this year and this is the last of the ones I've made and maybe my favorite.  I've had this pumpkin die from Lil' Inkers for a long time and I don't think I've ever used it.  It die cuts the semi-circle and pumpkins all in one pass.  I then die cut the entire panel with a stitched rectangle.  I die cut another from thin cardstock to have a mask for the pumpkins while I sponged the clouds in the background with distress ink.  Then I colored the pumpkins with copic markers.  There is a separate die for the eyes and mouths to make them into jack-o-lanterns.  I added the die cut grass and stamped the bats on the panel.  The inside panel was sponged with more distress inks and spritzed with shimmer.  The white "stars" were made with a white gel pen.  I adhered that panel to the black base and added the main panel with dimensional tape.  Lastly, I added the Boo! die cut.  I loved how all the colors looked together when complete.  There's also shimmer on the Boo! die cut and pumpkins.

Jack-O-Lanterns

Hello!  I'm posting the fourth of the Halloween cards I made this year.  This one is an Impression Obsession image.  Cute, right?  This is one of those images that you only make one or two of because of the amount of coloring involved.  It was all colored with copic markers.  I die cut the panel with a stitched rectangle and mounted it on a purple card base, which was stamped with a gingham stamp in coordinating color.  There is of course shimmer on many parts of this image.

Happy Halloween!

Halloween Cutie

Hi friends!  I go to a stamp class every month at my stamp store taught by Stephanie Klauck of My Favortie Things.  This was one of the cards we made in class.  This design is all Stephanie's...I just put it all together!  The pieces were all die cut by her, but I colored them with copic markers.  The background was sponged with wilted violet distress ink using a cloud stencil.  It was so fast and easy to create this card because those images are so fast to color.  I added shimmer to everything and sequins to the background.

Happy Halloween!

Just Us Girls #510 - Color Week

Hi friends!  This week is Color Week at Just Us Girls and Sue chose a great color combo of purple, navy and green.  I love this combo!

I thought a great way to incorporate all those colors would be to use a turnabout stamp from Concord & 9th.  I chose this fall-ish one so I could use it on a Thanksgiving card.  I used two greens to get the full turnabout effect on a 6x6" piece of cardstock.  I cut that into two 2x5.5" pieces so I could make two cards.  I cut a small strip of purple cardstock to add more color and separate it from the white area of the base.  I stamped the scene image and sentiment in navy and the leaf in green.  I decided not to color the scene.  I liked the line image and simplicity it gave to the card.  I'm making more of these because they were so simple and fast to create.

Happy Scarecrow

Hey there!  Yesterday I posted the first of five Halloween cards I've made.  This is the second.  I went to a stamp show in August and this die caught my eye in a big way!  I just thought it was so cute!  So I bought it (of course).  I die cut all the pieces and sponged some ink on the pumpkin, patches, rats and grass (a Lawn Fawn die) to give it some dimension.  I sponged the clouds in the sky with wilted violet distress ink using a mini cloud stencil.  Super easy card to make, but I'm so in love with how cute it is!

Happy Halloween!

Halloween Candy Corn

Hey friends!  I had time to make about a dozen (or more!) Halloween cards.  I usually don't do this because of time constraints, but since I'm now retired (and own a bunch of Halloween stamps), I sat down and made them.  I'll be sharing them here over the next few days.
