Punchy Color Challenge winner

Good morning! It's time to announce the Top Talent for our Punchy Color Challenge. We enjoyed seeing what you created and appreciate those who took on the challenge - I hear it was a tough one and I'm glad it didn't keep everyone away! ;) Without further ado, the winner is:

Patti Painter! I thought the punched flower was simply stunning, and I love how she divided the card with the different colors in the background. The subtle stamping and embossing are beautiful as well. Congratulations Patti! Please copy the Top Talent badge from our sidebar and display it with pride! We will be in touch about a future guest designer spot.

Don't forget - we're looking for new members for our design team. The Your Style challenge will remain open until July 8 so you have plenty of time to get your submission in. We are loving all the entries we've seen so far - keep them coming! And there will be a new challenge this Saturday as well so be sure you check back for that. Thanks for your support of our challenge blog - we couldn't do it without you!

Your Style and Design Team Call

Hi everyone, welcome back to Our Creative Corner! Thank you to all who played in our punchy colour challenge last week, be sure to stop by in a few days to see who earned our Top Talent badge!

I'm Sarah from THinkING STAMPS and we have a VERY special challenge for you - this week is a DESIGN TEAM CALL! That's right, YOU could be the next OCC designer! We want to see a card that is YOUR STYLE - whatever that style is, just make a brand new card showcasing your awesome abilities and tell us all about you and your style! The OCC team is diverse and we'd love to see what you would bring to the table!

There will be no Top Talent this week. Entries close July 8th and the talented designers chosen will be contacted by July 22nd.  There are multiple design team places available and the winners will be  invited to join the team at the start of August. Please don't be shy - if you've never been on a design team or you haven't even tried before, just remember we've all been in your shoes, all you have to do is have a blog, show us your style and be proud! If you are applying for a place on the design team, please so indicate by putting DT after your name.  Please don't forget to link back to the OCC in your post and tell us a little about your personal style!

It's time to see cards from our guest designer and the design team, each with their own unique style!

Double Inspiration Challenge Winner!

Good morning! Sorry this post is a little late. It's time to announce the Top Talent winner for our Double Inspiration challenge. And that fabulous stamper is...

OCCC-DoubleInspiration

What really impressed me is how Marjie approached the challenge - she thoughtfully studied the inspiration piece and let it guide her whole creation. The colors and variety of flowers on the left side are gorgeous, and her use of the layout of the book cover for her card layout is fabulous - especially the border piece that mirrors the placement of the book's title. It's a wonderful card that really reflects the inspiration piece but also puts a very creative spin on it. Wonderful work, Marjie!

We hope you will grab the Top Talent badge from the sidebar and display it on your blog. We'll be contacting you about a future guest spot in an upcoming challenge. Congratulations!

There is still time to play our Punchy Color challenge this week - we hope you'll check it out and enter your wonderful creations! Thanks for stopping by to see our winner and please come back on Saturday for an important challenge post you won't want to miss!

A Punchy Color Challenge

Good morning! It's time for our new challenge - but first a huge thanks to everyone who shared their inspired creations for last week's challenge. The entries were gorgeous as always! I'm Lori Rider, back with you as hostess again this week. This time it's a color challenge with a twist. First, the colors:

I used Stampin' Up! colors but please feel free to use whatever you have that's close. I hope you love this fun combination! Now, for the twist: get out your punches. I want you to use at least three different punches and at least one of them has to be a border punch. Don't feel you have to come up with elaborate punch art - check out what the team came up with for some inspiration and you'll see it's not hard to do at all!

Wedding Beauty Winner

Oh my goodness, it's already Wednesday!  Where has the week gone?  We would like to thank everyone who particapted in last weeks 'Wedding Beauty' challenge!  WOW!  there were alot of beautfiul submissions!  Thank you for taking the time to play along with us.  As you know, we have changed our awards to just one:  The 'Top Talent' prize!  So, without further ado, here is last weeks winner:

#10 Maki Jones of MakInk Studio

We thought that her multi-step stamping of the wedding bands helped create the illusion that they are real.  Maki's use of materials: lace, tulle, and twine were used together elegantly.  And she was creative with her use of the faux half-pearls.  Maki's card is simply elegant and gorgeous!  Her colors are soft and pretty.

Congratulations to our Top Talent.  Maki, we hope you will grab the Top Talent badge from our sidebar to display on your blog.

Thanks to everyone for coming back today to read about this week's winners.  Don't forget our Double-Inspiration challenge going on now through Friday night at 11:59 p.m. ET.

Double Inspiration Challenge

Welcome to another Saturday and another challenge from Our Creative Corner! We want to thank everyone who shared their wedding cards with us last week. We always love seeing what you create! Now on to this week's challenge. I'm Lori Rider, your hostess for the next two weeks. I really love inspiration challenges, and we haven't had one here at the OCC in ages so I thought it was about time! Here is the inspiration photo, the cover of a book by Amy Butler:

For this challenge we want you to really look at all the different details in this photo - then choose at least two elements to incorporate into your card, and please tell us what they are in your description. To get you started, here are the cards from our wonderful design team, along with what inspired their creations, in their own words.

Lori Rider - The Diva Stamper

I used the colors of the book cover for my color palette, and I also tried to emulate the flowers on the left side in the image I chose.

Jen Rzasa - Our Change of Art
I was inspired by the strip of floral fabric along the left hand side of the book - I attached my fabric with a zigzag stitch. I also loved the circles pillow that is on the couch in the photo, so I added some to my card!

The colors of the photo were inspiration to me as well as all the circles.

Sarah Gough - THinkING STAMPS
I drew inspiration from all the polka dots and the round, ruffle pillow, creating a focal point from ribbon that mimicked the shape.

Kristin Tierney - LilyBeth Boutique

It's been a while since I had my mojo working, but here is a cute card for a birthday boy. I drew my inspiration from the color palette as well as the polka dots from the pillow. Gotta LOVE Amy Butler!

Linda Coughlin - The Funkie Junkie
That fabulous pleated pillow caught my eye right off and I used the circular stripe type pattern to create my crinoline flower.  The texture of the brick wall inspired me to use an embossing folder on the kraft glassine strip and I picked up the oranges with the stick pin.

Sharon Wheet - Designs by Sharon

My inspiration came from those wonderful pillows! The round pillow gave me the stripes, while the orange pillow gave me the polka-dots. I loved those kraft pom-pom flowers on the long pillow so much that I had to make my own!
