Ik barst bijna van opwinding *lol*
Deze week verschijnt het 4de Art Specially magazine EN IK STA OP HET OMSLAG! Nou ja ik, iets dat ik gemaakt heb natuurlijk. Ik had al wel gehoord dat er wat op zou komen van mij, maar niet dat dat zo prominent zou zijn. Nu sta ik hier te jubelen en heb alleen manlief om tegen aan te kletsen. Hij eist trouwens een deel van de eer op, de American Art stempels die ik heb gebruikt bij het projectje heeft hij uitgezocht tijdens een winkeltochtje *lol*

This week the 4th Art Specially magazine is published AND I AM ON THE COVER! Well, not me of course, it's something I made. I got notice this would be the case but didn't realize it would be so prominent. Doing a happy happy dance here and only my love is here to celebrate with me. He is telling me he owns part of the honour too, for he chose the American Art stamps that I used on the project when we were on a shopping trip *LOL*

Opleuken en verandering van plan / Pimping and change of plan

Eerst het opleuken.
First the pimping (is this a word one can use? *lol*).




Vorige week kocht ik een nieuw zeeppompje bij de HEMA voor in mijn atelier (gaaf, ik heb een atelier, nog lang niet klaar maar ik vind het zo geweldig om het te kunnen zeggen), het is een geglazuurd ding en alcoholinkt pakt daar prima op.
Last week I bought a soap dispenser to use in my studio (how cool to be able to say this). It's a very smooth china kind of surface and alcohol inks just hold perfect on it.

Geen idee of het erg duurzaam is, ik ben niet van plan er een sealer overheen te spuiten. Als het te veel slijt doe ik er gewoon weer een nieuw laagje alcholinkt op.
Not a clue if it's very durable. I'm not going to use a sealer, I will just see if it wears off and will add a new layer alcohol inks is necessary.


Dan het verandering van plan.

De shrine waar ik aan begonnen ben, had ik wit gegrond en dat stond me helemaal niet aan. Een litertje zwarte zwarte gesso gekocht, ze hadden alleen deze van N&W staan (of 5-liter emmers van een ander goedkoper merk, maar dat ging me te ver). Wat is dit supergoed spul zeg. Het laagje uit het deksel was genoeg om dit bakje helemaal dekkend zwart te gronden.
I grounded the shrine I started last week with a white gesso and didn't like it. So I got a liter black gesso and, wow, this is such a nice quality. I only needed a tiny bit to cover the tray.

Maar toch / But still

Foutjes wegwerken / Covering up

Dit wordt een verhaaltje over hoe je een foutje wegwerkt, daar ben ik echt goed in *lol*. Opnieuw beginnen is pas een optie als het echt echt écht niet lukt.
This will be a post on how to cover up mistakes. I'm really good at that. Starting over isn't really an option, not until I tried all covering up possibilities *lol*.

Een foeilelijke stijfselmarmer wordt de bedekking van het koekjeskarton (zie vorig bericht).

Doosje in elkaar lijmen en oooooeps, het past niet. Dit is mijn eerste ovale doosje en ik had geen rekening gehouden met de dikte van het karton, de rand is te groot en ik heb een gapend deksel, niet mooi...
Glueing the top on the box and oooops, doesn't fit. This is my first oval box and I didn't think of the thickness of the cardstock, the strip is to big and there is a gap in the top and bottom of the box, not nice to look at at all...

Een stukje kapitaalband biedt oplossing.
A piece of endband (or headband) is my solution.

Nog een even groot ovaaltje om het band weg te werken.
Another same sized oval to sandwich the endband.

Eigenlijk vind ik het doosje veel sjieker zo met dat band ertussen.
In the end I like the box better with the ribbon in between.

Uiteindelijk was het maar een uurtje werk vanmiddag om dit doosje te maken, inclusief het foutje wegwerken :)
In the end it only took an hour this afternoon to make this box, including the covering up :)

Nog even iets heel anders. Dit is weer het jaar van de Holland Papier Biënnale. Als je mooi papierwerk wilt zien is een bezoek aan Rijswijk en Apeldoorn van harte aanbevolen. De tentoonstelling opent 10 juni en de laatste dag (14 september) is er papiermarkt in Rijswijk, altijd een topper.
Now for something quite different. This is the year of the bi-annual Holland Papier Biënnale. If you like paper art I can recommend a visit to the exhibitions in Rijswijk and Apeldoorn. The last day (September 14) there is a paper market in Rijswijk, great to visit too.
