My Daddy Wears Combat Boots

You have probably heard the saying or said it yourself as a kid...
"Your daddy wears combat boots and your momma dresses you funny."
or is it...
"MY daddy wears combat boots and your momma dresses you funny."

Either way I think it is meant as insult. But in our family it is just the TRUTH. The boys daddy DOES wear combat boots and yes their momma sometimes DOES dress them funny.

I was playing with my flash to my camera. I got it awhile back one of those big high grade professional looking dojobbies. Well I am no professional so I was just playing with it and taking pictures of little E. After I put the pictures on the computer I noticed what he was wearing {in my defense, it was clean and it was laundry day}. And it made me think of that saying which was the inspiration for this layout (yes I actually did a layout of my youngest son).

Enjoy! Now back to keeping busy, I think I am going to clean my scrapping area and ughh I just realized that I need to pay the bills too. YUCK!

Keep everything crossed...

I mean everything, fingers, toes, legs, ankles, elbows, hair, your eyes if you can do it. I sent in my layouts for the DT contest. Now we just sit and wait and that is the hardest part.

So I am going to go scrap and try to keep myself busy for the next 11 days! ARGH!

I am the reason they have express lanes and overnight shipping. I hate waiting!

OK going to go play.

But if you don't mind, say a quick prayer for me...Thanks :)

How to make a Jennifer {remember it will probably be fruity!}

From my friend Lacey's blog...

What personality elements make up your Personality cocktail?

How to make a Jennifer
Ingredients:
3 parts success
3 parts self-sufficiency
1 part joy
Method:
Combine in a tall glass half filled with crushed ice. Add a little sadness if desired!

Lots of Fun Nonsensical Stuff

Is that a word or did I just make up another one -- Webster should hire me cause I make them up all the time!

Well I found this on Carolyn's blog and thought it was cool...

You Are Likely an Only Child
At your darkest moments, you feel frustrated. At work and school, you do best when you're organizing. When you love someone, you tend to worry about them.
In friendship, you are emotional and sympathetic.Your ideal careers are: radio announcer, finance, teaching, ministry, and management. You will leave your mark on the world with organizational leadership, maybe as the author of self-help books.

As a child I wished I was an only child but actually I am the oldest of 2, I have a sister who is 4 years younger than me.
I got tagged by Lacey at this life of mine, so here it goes!

**************************************************

The tagged victim lists 8 different points of their perfect partner & give the gender.

In order to avoid the meme curse I must tag 8 victims (they would be listed at the bottom of this post) to join this game & leave a comment on a post letting them know they've been tagged.

My partner: Male (we shall call him Dhubby)

8 qualities of my perfect partner (in no particular order of importance) :
1. tall (I am going to go with tall too because I have never dated anyone under 6'3" so that must be important -- truthfully I think I just like the feeling of protection, even though I know I could take him)
2. loves me exactly as I am (man Lacey maybe I just want your man or maybe we have twins or something -- I think we have talked about this, we are long lost twins who are married to long lost twins)
3. can handle being teased (there I will change it a little -- I am kind of a smart ass so they better be able to handle some ribbing)
4. a good father (I won't go awesome dad because I know it is hard when he is gone all day but I just want to see him interact with the kids and stuff like that -- you know it takes two to tango and I am not the virgin Mary)
5. legs of a god (I am a leg girl -- I love runners legs or swimmers legs all long and lean and muscly -- going to take cold shower now)
6. intelligent (or at least as smart as me -- I don't think I could be in a relationship with someone like say Joey Tribiani from Friends -- I would do better with Chandler or Ross)
7. clean cut (again going to agree with Lacey and I am going to add looks great in a uniform -- I am a sucker for a man in uniform and would like to petition the US Army to get a uniform that looks as awesome as the US Marine Corps -- eech wa wa)
8. picks up after himself and enjoys doing dishes (well you said he was perfect *wink wink*)

Now I have to tag 8 people ...... here goes ....
(these may overlap so consider yourself loved)
Carolyn
Kim
Bonni
Julie
Laura
Kristi
Jill
and Heidi Swapp if you ever read my blog (HA HA, right) consider yourself tagged! :)

Baby Album

I made this little album for my little sister who is expecting her first child in April. I hope she will like it.

It started off like this...

And then I altered it to look like this...

The ribbon is to help keep it closed. :)

Then the front inside...

The pages...

They each have a matching opposite page to hold a picture.

Here are the cool non-picture pages close up...

Proud Mommy Moment

{knocking on wood}
I haven't said anything to anyone besides my mom but I. has been accident free now and wearing underwear except to bed for 2 whole weeks. I am so proud of the little guy. It just happened overnight, we went from feeling like he was never going to pee in the potty to doing it all on his own.

{knock on wood again just to make sure I don't jinx it}

Need Advice {BADLY}

So I have been thinking about submitting some of my pages and trying to get on this design team for a message board that I belong to. I can't decide if I should because I know a lot of people have just recently joined all because they are applying and they have been posting like wildfire on the gallery and their stuff is awesome.

I know if I don't try I will never know but what if I get rejected. I don't know how to deal with rejection. It would be like someone saying your not good enough.

Please help me as my Dhubby is no help when it comes to these things because he is perfect and I can't afford a therapist.

Another Valentine ** updated**

since i was in a pink mood i made another... TFL

Image hosting by Photobucket

i call it conversation hearts. ** I changed it a little bit, I added a greeting to the front because I just kept looking at it and thinking it was bland. I don't know why I am worried about it, it is for my hubby and like he really cares -- you know what he wants for Valentines Day, yes that is right uninterrupted time in his wood shop -- that isn't what you thought I was going to say was it. Sickos get your minds out of the gutter! :)

Image hosting by Photobucket

and this is my sewing one.

I know...

my blog is PINK! Well lets just say I should have never taken that stupid scrapbooking quiz and put it in my blog. I screwed everything up. So heads up -- take the quiz and just post in my comments what you are if you want to because I don't want everyone else to have to go with the Happy Valentines Pink background because it screwed everything up and then you forget to copy all your links so you have go back and edit it all by hand again. That will be later. Plus since my photos are so large all my information is WAY down at the bottom -- I don't like that because then I have to scroll through everything to get to the links that I want to use.

What Scrapbooking Supply Are You?

Scissors
You are a pair of SCISSORS!
You're cutting edge, baby! You cut through life
with ease, always keeping others on the edge.
You have the power to simplify things by just
cutting them out. But scissors beware - you
may cut some of the important things out of
your life without realizing it, in your need
to keep trim!

Valentines

St Valentine's Day used to be one of my favorites as a kid. I loved making valentines for all my classmates in school and reading what all the boys would say on mine. It was just a fun holiday and it was nice to see how many people liked you. I don't know why when we grow up we stop sending our friend valentines to let them know we care, we shouldn't.

Well this is one that I made up for a card sketch that I am doing for a crop for my military wives scrapbooking group. So if you are from MSP and see it don't be mad that you may see it again. :)

Happy Valentine's Day!

ABCs of Me

I saw this in an email. I had 422 after being gone this weekend so I just skimmed them but I think it was Lacey who did so I thought I would do it too. I am not too sure of the rules but I will make some up for you = Write down the first thing about yourself that comes to mind for each letter of the alphbet.

Consider yourself tagged if you are reading this by the way!

A = always ready (not a girl scout or anything but I am a military wife)
B = big boned (I try to tell myself that is my problem)
C = cute (I will never be pretty but I think that sometimes I can pass for cute)
D = dog lover
E = easy going
F = friendly (don't let anyone tell you different)
G = go getter (I am definately someone who get what I want if I set my mind to it)
H = helpful (sometimes too helpful -- I need to learn to 'just say no')
I = independant (the army calls us dependants but any military wife who has suffered through deployments with a child and being pregnant and living with her in-laws is pretty independant if you ask me -- it is DHubby who should be called dependant)
J = Jennifer -- it means white wave and Old French form of the Welsh name Gwenhwyfar, which is composed of the elements gwen meaning "fair, white" and hwyfar meaning "smooth". In Arthurian legend she is the beautiful wife of King Arthur. Her betrayal of her husband with Mordred prompted the battle of Camlann, which led to the deaths of both Mordred and Arthur. Later versions of the legends tell of her adulterous affair with Sir Lancelot. I always loved that story so it is cool that my name is a form of it. :)
K = kids (got 2 of them and I love them to death)
L = learn (I love to learn new things)
M = modest (need I actually say more)
N = neat freak (I am working on this and have gotten better since having my kids but I still like everything to be in its place)
O = old (that's how I feel a lot of the time living in a college town where the median birth year is 1986)
P = pee (I do it a lot cause I drink a lot of water -- as Martha would say "Its a good thing")
Q = quiet (I know you all don't see this online but in real life I am pretty quiet and shy)
R = reading (one of my favorite things to do besides scrapbooking)
S = smart (maybe not a math anymore but I have good common sense)
T = totally obsessed with the internet (I don't know what I would do without it and I can't imagine how my grandparents and parents got along with out it)
U = unique
V = very shy (I am not a social butterfly)
W = weight (I am obsessed with my weight too)
X = XXL (that is the size that I normally have to buy)
Y = young at heart (I may feel old next to all these skinny coeds but I am young at heart and love to play with my kids)
Z = 'Z end (I don't know what to think of myself that starts with Z so I will just call this 'Z end)

Thanks for reading and I hope you will share the ABCs of you too.

Did you ever...

dance and sing so loud that your chest and back hurt? Me and the boys were playing with iTunes last night and dancing around and singing at the tops of our lungs and this morning I HURT!

Guess we will have to do that again, must be good exercise!! :)

3401 steps

and then I heard a snap. Guess what folks, I broke my pedometer. I know I only spent about $4 on it at Walmart but I really liked that little bugger. It was really easy to use and it didn't have a stupid case over the top of it that I couldn't open but my 3 year old could.

And I was doing really good today 3401 steps and it was only 2 o'clock!

Wow it is Wednesday already!?!

I can't believe how fast it feels like this week is going. DHubby had off on Monday for the MLK holiday so that was one day and then yesterday we took the kids to the indoor playground and that took up another whole day. Plus I was still feeling pretty yucky yesterday so when we did get home I went to sleep.

I am feeling much better today. I have started the laundry, striped the beds and checked all my web groups. So now I am going to print some pictures and sit in the playroom with the boys and scrap for awhile.

Ok, so one of the groups that I belong to is looking for DT members. It is just a 3 month period, but what do you all think, should I try out? I have to submit 3 of my best things and write a 200 word essay to show off my writing style. I asked and for the writing thing they say to write a review or how to do a technique. Very nervous, what should I do?

Well here is something I did Monday. The top picture kind of reminded me of Titantic so that is where the title came from.

Happy Wednesday everyone -- it's hump day already!!

3979 steps

Woah, really went the wrong direction today. You would have thought all the running around I did at the indoor playground that I would have had more steps. Oh well trying again today and feeling much better so hopefully that will help!

Tuesday, January 17, 2006

5183 steps

Not quite as many as yesterday but it was so cold outside that we didn't even leave the house.

Playing with Photoshop CS2

It was a gift from DHubby for Christmas so I'd better use it. I had this really grainy photo and I 'fixed' it a little in Photoshop. I made the background blurry and sharpened my guy up a bit and lightened it so you could see him a little better. Then I scrapped!

Image hosted by Photobucket.com

It isn't anything special but I like how it turned out. Thanks to Kim for the rub-on stitched stars they are so cool!!

59 degrees

No it isn't the newest pop band out there, it is the temp in the middle of Iowa today. It is SO nice outside. DHubby & I took the kids and the dog for a walk outside today. We explored out behind the house in the empty field and over where they are building the new middle school track and field complex. There is even a walking trail out there. Too cool {or maybe I should say warm --tee-hee--}. Now hopefully we won't all catch colds again.

I put my ped-o-meter on today and I am starting a new online club. Everyday I am going to try my darndest to get to 10,000 steps. Join me, put one on and post in my comments everyday how far you get!

I forgot to post this one the other day!

It is my squirrel layout. He used to climb onto my birdfeeder every morning and steal all the birdfood. One day I was bored I admit it and I took some pictures of him. I always liked squirrels, they are so acrobatic.

Image hosted by Photobucket.com

The title font is Diesel and I downloaded it off the internet here
http://www.misprintedtype.com/v3/fonts.php

He has some really cool looking grungy fonts.

I used a Stencil

I bought these MM stencils as part of a kit that I got once and I never really used them. I know story of my scrapbooking life -- buy things and cherish them and keep them as my PRECIOUS supplies!

Well I used up some more supplies on this layout and I used a set of stamps that a friend got me that I had never used before. They were those clingy kind that you stick onto the clear block. I wasn't really sure if I would like them but she has me hooked. THANKS A LOT BTW NOW I WANT MORE!!! You know who you are!! :)

Image hosted by Photobucket.com

This is a layout from Memorial Day 2004 and we went with some friends to the Leesburg Animal Park. We had a great time but the best part for me was watching I. interact with this goat who wouldn't let him do what he loves most, climb and slide.

GOATS = KIDS :)
