This week Simon Says Stamp and Show ... Something From Yesteryear! Terry at first did not know what yesteryear meant, but with a little help from her amazing teamies she now knows...and she decided to make a very "old" decorated Christmas tree. The Christmas flower was made with the
Tim Holtz Alterations Flowers Die and she made her icy flower with
Tim Holtz Distress Stickles rock candy and
Glossy Accents Glue Dimensional Adhesive and shimmered with
Tattered Angels Glimmer mist Dazzling Diamonds this is also used on the Christmas tree and on the sentiment. The papers that she used are from the
Graphic 45 Christmas Past paper pack, everything was worked on with
Vintage Photo Distress Ink. The sentiment is from the
Tim Holtz Cling Rubber Stamps Odds & Ends. The image is from the Internet.
Lynne loves all things from yesteryear.......For this project she pulled out her vintage crepe paper (not the roll kind) and a tassel. To add to this vintage look she used
Vintage Glass Glitter to accent her
Tattered Floral flower and a she stamped a
Flourish, which she traced with white glue and sprinkled on more Vintage Glass Glitter. The
Bauble added just the right touch when coupled with the vintage tassel and of course a bit of
Vintage Photo Distress Ink. Remember those paper chains, she created one to be used to hang the cone.
This week's challenge began with a book Nancy found at a flea market. The book was written in 1942 by Kathleen Norris and bears her initials on the front. Nancy is using it for her niece who has the same initials (K.N.) and turning it into a junque journal with lots of empty pages for her to add her own thoughts and dreams. After binding the cover with signatures, Nancy used
Crafty Secrets Seasonal Calendar to decorate each month of 2011. Added
tags with ribbon to each month to make it easier to pull the tags out and then to each tag added various quotes from Tim Holtz
Just Thoughts and
Good Thoughts. With
Maya Road and
7 Gypsies envelopes, there's plenty of room for her to add what she wishes.
When Lori hears the word "yesteryear", she thinks of vintage, aged, or things reminiscent of days gone by. For Lori, Graphic 45 always represents vintage, so that was the focus of her project this week. She used paper from
Renaissance Fair, the
Ornate On the Edge die, a
Gold and
Espresso paint dabber, and a
Curio knob to turn an ordinary paper mache box into a vintage gift box!
Linda loves using images from yesteryear. Here she has used a vintage Christmas angel image with Tim's Tinted Vision technique but instead of using a Fragment with it, she has used a piece of acetate die cut with the
Snow Flurries On the Edge die.
Ginger and Latte Adirondack alcohol inks were applied to the back of the acetate with a
Adirondack Alcohol Ink Applicator tool to create an aged, stained paper look. Then the remaining alcohol ink on the applicator tool was then used on a piece of vanilla CS to create a blotchy aged look for the Believe stamp. The CS was also misted with a mixture of water,
Vintage Photo reinker and
Perfect Pearls Heirloom Gold, as was the panel that was embossed with the
Tim Holtz Notepaper Texture Fade. Both pieces of CS were also sponged with Vintage Photo ink around the edges. The white petals of the crinoline flower were cut with the
Alerations Tattered Floral die. The Believe stamp is from the
Tim Holtz Mini Holidays stamp set.
Kim decided to make a vintage looking ornament, to capture the feeling of yesteryear. First she created an oval tile using images from the
mini holiday stamp set, masked, coloured with copics, then completely covered with crackle accents. She used gold Adirondack Acrylic Paint Dabber for the edges. It was then adhered to a frame shape made from Tim's
vintage shabby papers, with inked edges and adhesive stones, the very edge has a generous amount of stickles too. Kim has added a crepe paper frill to the back of the ornament. The 'merry christmas' is also from the
mini holiday stamp set, inked and covered with clear embossing powder! The glittery poinsettia shrink plastic flower was created using
Tattered florals die, coloured with distress inks and lots of gold stickles glitter for the centre. Finished off with a bow made from Webster's pages
Holiday Trim attached using a fabulous
charm clip and jump ring. The
Idea-ology facet covers a stamped image and is attached to ribbon with a
trinket pin.
Dan was very inspired this week by the new set of
7 Gypsies "Calais" stamps he got recently. He combined them with some
Tim Holtz classics,
distress ink pads, a
white paint dabber and a recycled box frame to produce this piece, which he says makes him think of tattoos coming to life!
