Hello there! It’s time for the annual seasonal challenge at CAS Colours & Sketches. For the next four weeks, our challenge is to take any of the CC&S challenges from 2024 and turn their sketch or color palette into a seasonal card. Or, if you’re really ambitious, you can combine a color challenge with a sketch challenge!

I’ve taken what felt like an easy route and chose Sketch #535. The squares in the sketch looked like a pile of presents to me. So I cut squares from scraps of designer paper and added some very narrow strips of coordinating paper to look like ribbon and a bow/topper for the gift on the top of the stack. I added a Christmas sentiment and ta-da, my card was done!

We’d love to have you join in our challenge at CC&S!  You have until 6:00 p.m. Eastern time Monday, Decmeber 30, 2024 to link your card at the challenge site.  Thanks for visiting today!

Supplies:
Stamp: Merry Messages (Lawn Fawn)
Cardstock: Pure Luxury Ivory (Gina K. Designs); scraps from Nordic Holiday 6″ x 6″ paper pad (Basic Grey)
Ink: Cherry Cobbler (Stampin’ Up)

Hello there!  It’s time for a sketch challenge at CAS Colours & Sketches

I used basically the same color scheme as the previous CC&S color challenge.  I die cut two poinsettias, assembled them, and positioned them where I wanted on a base of linen textured cardstock.  I was able to use up some scraps of white and red cardstock for the sentiment strip.  Dimensional adhesives raise the sentiment strip up a bit above the poinsettias.  The end result is this very “clean and simple” styled card!

I’m also going to share this card with The Paper Players, who are looking for CAS-styled Christmas cards this week.

What kind of card will you make with the sketch?  The CC&S team and I would love to see!  Share it with us at the CC&S site by 6:00 p.m. Eastern U.S. time Monday, December 2, 2024.

Supplies:
Stamp: Merry Messages (Lawn Fawn)
Cardstock: Solar White Linen and Solar White (Neenah); Real Red, Shaded Spruce, and Daffodil Delight (Stampin’ Up)
Ink: Real Red (Stampin’ Up)
Other: Stitched Poinsettia dies (Lawn Fawn)

CAS Colours & Sketches #548

Hello there!  It’s the first Tuesday of November, which means it’s time for a new color challenge at CAS Colours & Sketches!

The challenge colors strongly suggested Christmas, so I decided to dig up my blueprint-like Christmas stamps and use the holly image.  I had thought that I had this image in two different sizes, but I was wrong.  So, because the image is fairly large, I opted not to add a sentiment to the card, to maximize the white space available.  I stamped the image in one corner of a piece of white cardstock, colored the image with Copic markers, and then added a very narrow red mat behind the image panel before attaching it to the card base.  Very clean, simple, and easy!

What will you create with these challenge colors?  We’d love to see!  Share your card at the challenge site by 6:00 p.m. Eastern U.S. time Monday, November 18, 2024.  Thanks for stopping by today!

Supplies:
Stamps: Christmas Blueprint 4 (Tim Holtz)
Cardstock: Solar White (Neenah); Real Red, Shaded Spruce (Stampin’ Up)
Ink: Tuxedo Black (Memento)
Other: markers (Copic)

Hello there! It’s sketch challenge time at CAS Colours & Sketches. This is a fun little sketch that can allow you to use up a few scraps – because goodness knows we all have scraps of cardstock and designer papers!

I shopped around a few other challenge blogs to help give me ideas for today’s card. AAA Cards is celebrating their 10th birthday – congratulations, y’all! – with a theme of, of course, birthdays. The Paper Players is looking for cards that are clean and simple and that are humorous or punny. Those led me to revisiting this cute otter image and related punny sentiment. I stamped the otter on a scrap of white cardstock and colored him with Copics. I wasn’t in the mood to fussy cut around his whiskers, so I planned to draw them extending out from the sides of his face after I attached him to the watery-look designer paper – but then I forgot until after I took the photo. Ooops. So, he’s a short whiskered otter.

What will you create with this sketch?  We’d love to see!  You can link your card at the CC&S site until 6:00 p.m. Eastern U.S. Time Monday, June 3, 2024.  Thanks for stopping by today!  Comments are always welcome and appreciated.

May 072024

Hello there! I’m hosting the challenges for the month of May at CAS Colours & Sketches, so I’m getting back in the proverbial game and making some cards this month.

Our first challenge of the month is a color challenge. When I chose these colors a few months ago, I had a vague idea I’d do some sort of nature scene with them, but I didn’t have anything definite in mind. This week, I needed to make a sympathy card for a friend whose father recently passed away. So I decided to do a watercolor wash with some Pool Party and Lost Lagoon ink, and stamp the evergreen tree over the wash colors with Basic Gray ink (since I don’t have Pebbled Path, I had to make a substitution). Very easy, very clean and simple.

Be sure to check out what the rest of the design team has made. What will you create with these colors? We’d love to see! You have until 6:00 p.m. Eastern U.S. time Monday, May 20 to link your card at the challenge post. Thanks for stopping by today!

All supplies for this card are from Stampin’ Up except as noted.
Stamps: Lovely As A Tree, Thoughts & Prayers
Cardstock: The Langton Prestige Extra Smooth Hot Press watercolor paper (Daler-Rowney); Lost Lagoon, Pool Party
Ink: Basic Gray
Other: Pool Party and Lost Lagoon reinkers
