One Word Will Empower You

Hello friends!
2020 has put us ALL through the ringer!
I am guessing most of us have had more than our
share of trials.

Maybe some of you have lost loved ones to the virus.
Maybe some of you have lost your jobs, your business's, your hope.
Maybe some of you are so ready
for your kids to go back to school you could scream.

When I think of this past year the Words

DIVISION
SADNESS
VIOLENCE
UGLINESS
HORRIFIC
EXHAUSTED
LONELY
DESPAIR

all come to my mind. Our country, our world is at a
crossroads. We can either embrace our situation
and RISE or we can continue feeling
sorry for our situation and sink.

Friends, I am here to tell you when God is with US, when
WE LET HIM IN...
Mighty Powerful Magic HAPPENS!
Our Faith MUST be BIG at this moment in time!
We cannot give up!
Let's all come together and RISE!
Let's empower one another, inspire one another and love one another!!!

I have chosen a Word of the Year for nearly fifteen years.
Each year I use that Word to guide me, to help me make choices, to inspire me.
It's amazing the POWER one Word has!

This year, 2021
I am more confident than EVER
we ALL need a Word!
I have been inspired to write a class to help YOU
not only find your Word but EMBRACE and LIVE your Word!
This class is FREE and begins on January 5th!

See you SOON!

Much Love,
Leslie

Looking for the Blessings

Happy Monday, friends!
I LOVE the start of a FRESH new week!
I love that I have clean slate to dream, plan and execute every single week.
Hooray for MONDAYS!

Just checking in to see how you are doing.
Christmas is just weeks away, the year is winding down
and I would bet that many of you, (like me) is looking forward to
a BRAND NEW YEAR.
2020 has been NOTHING like we have ever experienced before, has it?
And even though 2020 has been filled with more
unknowns than any other in my life...this year has
been one of the BEST of my life!
WHY?

Well, for starters the LESSONS I have learned while being
in lockdown, having the virus, my loved ones
having the virus, going through some VERY HARD
financial struggles, almost losing EVERYTHING
and going to God for it ALL has taught me
once again the IMPORTANCE of
having Faith over Fear.

When we TRULY trust God to lead and guide us through
our lives...that is when the Magic happens.
That is when He can get to work and BLESS US!
He is there, hand outstretched, just waiting for us to take it.

This week I encourage you to take a look back
at this crazy year and write down EVERYTHING that happened.
I mean EVERYTHING! Sure, you may forget a few things
but do your best. Write down the good, the bad, the ugly,
the sad, the mad...all of it.
Then look at your list and SEE where God was working.
SEE where maybe you HAD gone to Him in prayer and he ANSWERED it!
Put a star or Heart beside every instance where, looking back, you realize God WAS there!
I have done this several times in the past and it is so POWERFUL!
This is a list you will come to treasure, look back on
and give thanks for!!

Be sure and share any insights you may have after
doing this in our Facebook Group
We would LOVE to have you!!!

Peace,
Leslie

December Challenge: Writing Down Our Prayers

I believe in Prayer.

Not a day has gone by in thirty-five plus years that I haven't prayed.

But it was just in the last four years I began writing down my prayers in my journal.

That has been the single most powerful thing to change my life I can think of.

Seriously.

December is here..the most magical month of the year!

I am obsessed with all things Christmas...music, movies, retro specials from the 60's and 70's, family get-togethers and of course...the birth of my Savior, Jesus Christ.

And while gifts under the tree are nice,

the only gifts I truly need are my family and the love of Christ in my Heart.

I invite you to join me along with the Brave Heart Faith Warriors Community in our FREE December Challenge.

I know you are already busy this Season
but I PROMISE this is gonna be so EASY and SO fulfilling!

What you'll need:

*index cards
*colored pencils, paint pens, ballpoint pens, pencil
*words cut from a magazine
*word stickers
*letter stamps

Our challenge is to write a WEEKLY prayer for the next five weeks on an index card.
Feel free to write on both front + back, decorating it any way you are inspired to. One index card a week.
If you are like me you may want to write your weekly prayer in your journals. You do what
feels right.

Try to focus your prayer on the Christmas Season. Here are some examples...

*Your relationship with the Christ Child during this Season
*Ask Him to inspire you to help someone in need
*Pray to KNOW Him like never before in 2021
*If you struggle during this holiday season, pray for His guidance
*Pray for a GIVING HEART
*If there is someone you need to forgive, ask Him to help you

There are endless topics you can go to God with! The main thing is you GO!!

Along with positive and uplifting motivation from our Community you will also receive a few freebies from me! Be sure and click on the title "5 Ways to Journal on Purpose" so I can get your email and send you the FREE Printables!

Hello and WELCOME!

Hello. My name is Leslie. I have been the Author of this Blog, Words of Me Project for over ten years. Throughout that time I have shared my family, my art, my words and my faith. I am passionate about each of those things and look forward to sharing with you again!

A few years back I decided to switch it up a bit and moved over to another blogging platform. While I enjoyed my time there and wrote consistently for a year, it never quite felt like Home. There is just something about THIS place that brings me peace, comfort and joy. I think it's because this is where I began. This is the place I met so many wonderful women from around the world. I also wrote dozens of FREE courses and shared them all with YOU. My first year long course...52 Weeks of Being Me brought women from all over the globe to my little spot here on the web. It's still my most pinned course...being pinned nearly 100,000 times! You can find it here. It's completely FREE and guaranteed to add inspiration to your life!

These days I am known as Brave Heart Faith Warrior. My Faith is something I am fiercely passionate about. I am currently writing my first manuscript about the power of writing down your prayers and connecting with God. You can get a taste of that as well as a Community of the most incredible women in my Facebook Group...I invite you join today!

You can also click on the SUBSCRIBE button below my blog title or on the link on the top right that says Free Art Journaling Ideas Newsletter...add your email and I will add you to my BRAND NEW Newsletter list! You can expect those at least twice a month!! You will also be the first to know about my new classes, products and MORE! Come be a Faith Warrior today!!!

You can expect to see more of me as I am diligently learning and working on growing my business. God has placed a Purpose in my life to connect with women and help them by encouraging them to connect with God. It is my prayer that you will go on this Journey with me. I am so happy you are here!

Much love,

Leslie

I am Home

It's been AWHILE.
I started this little blog of mine back in 2007.
WOW! So much has changed since then.
My kids are now adults and spreading their wings.
I work full-time as a Paraprofessional in an elementary school.
My husband and I own & operate our shaved ice biz...Kool Kats....
and..... we are going to be GRANDPARENTS this summer!

ALL pretty big changes since the last time I was here...
Even though I wasn't using THIS space to write...
I had switched to Word Press.

So
not
impressed.

Not only was it a harder learning curve, I had to pay
if I wanted to use some of the best features.
So I made the decision to come back HERE.

It
feels
like
Home.

I have some grand plans for this blog of mine over the next few years.
First and foremost I want to get back to writing. It's ALWAYS been my
first love. I wrote a weekly newspaper column for five years
back in the early 2000's and enjoyed every minute of it.
Sharing what's in my Heart is my passion!

What can you expect from this blog?

*LOTS of FREE art journaling ideas, handouts to print off
and more!

*Uplifting and inspiring ways to make your life filled with JOY!

*Faith stories, messages and quotes.

*Faith + Fitness

*More!

I invite you to join our on-line Facebook Community...Brave Heart Sisterhood Art Journaling.

Let me know you stopped by!!

My Creative Revolution: What I've learned and what's coming in 2018!!

"To live a creative life, we must lose our fear of being wrong."
 - Joseph Chilton Pierce

If you haven't read parts 1 & 2 of my Creative Revolution you can do that here and here.

So here I was, creating my art, blogging, writing and sharing free on-line challenges and classes in my Facebook Group....Brave Heart Sisterhood Mixed-Media Art.

I was loving it!

My first ever art journal I created for Soul Restoration...an on-line course by Melody Ross.

And yet, I felt like I wasn't enough.
I felt like my passion for creating and sharing and inspiring wasn't enough.

A page from journal I created several years ago.

I wasn't on one design team.
I had never been invited to
participate in some big on-line class.
I wasn't getting "noticed".

All of those things crippled me creatively as well
as emotionally. I took everything personally.

"They just don't like me. What's wrong with me?"

That's all I could think about.

I was seeing everyone I know have success but me.
At least that's how I saw it.

A page from my art journal. I LOVE using images of myself in my journals. So powerful!

The Joy of creating and inspiring was being sucked right out of me. That coupled with some financial troubles we were experiencing I completely freaked out and, like I said in Part 1 of my story...I just quit.

A page from my art journal. Using vintage images is one of my favorites!

So last August I stopped visiting my Facebook group, cut out looking at FB almost altogether, really. All I was doing was comparing myself to fellow friends and artists...not a good thing! I also stopped creating. I wanted nothing to do with it!

A page from my art journal. Using magazine images has become my new thing!! I am soooo inspired by this type of creating!!!!

It only took a few weeks for me to miss my studio time.
I decided to dig into a
few classes I had purchased
but never finished.

During this time I also made room for more scripture study, prayer and bible journaling.
What a difference this made in my attitude!

As the weeks turned into a months
I began searching YouTube, Instagram and Pinterest for new to me art journalists.
and began devouring her video's.
This woman's style was something I was looking for!!
I LOVED it!
I also took a class by Kelly Kilmer and learned so much.

One of my latest art journal pages.
Before I knew it I was back in my studio CREATING!
I was scouring through old magazines for flowers,
girls, birds, butterflies...anything I could use creatively in my journals.

Combing my love of acrylic and ink and magazine images.
And I wasn't just creating a day or two here or there.
Nope!
I was creating DAILY.
I was looking forward to my studio again.
I was energized by this new way of playing in my art journals!

One of my favorites from a few weeks ago.

I also took three days and went through EVERYTHING little piece of paper, die-cut, sticker and image I had piled on tables, crammed in drawers
and haphazardly laying around my studio.

I divided them into 19 categories and put them
nice and neatly in plastic drawers. This one simple act has changed how I create!! I plan on sharing with you all in a YouTube video very soon!!

Another recent page from my art journal.

As I would sit here and work in my journals I began thinking about Brave Heart Sisterhood on Facebook.
I began thinking about my Journey and how much I LOVE inspiring and sharing with others. I missed it so much!

I also began thinking about my Creative Journey and realized that I had been going through another step in my creative evolution. I had become stagnant with my art and was feeling so uninspired MYSELF that there was just no way I could inspire others.

I also realized that comparison IS the thief of joy.
And just because I wasn't on a design team or being recognized for my work by people I thought should be noticing I was robbing myself of enjoying what I love the most....sitting in my studio, 70's and 80's on the radio, playing in my art journal.

And THAT'S when I realized I was experiencing a
Creative Revolution.

I finally had "gotten it".
Creating is about ONE thing....
You create for YOU.

Not for design teams or your followers or YouTube videos.

YOU
CREATE
FOR
YOU.

And then you share.
You share in your blog
or in a group
or on YouTube or Instagram.

YOU SHARE YOUR HEART.

STOP WORRYING ABOUT WHAT EVERYONE ELSE THINKS AND JUST BE YOU.

That is what I have learned in the last three months.

An older page from my art journal. I LOVE what it says..."Go Your Own Way". "It takes courage to surrender."

So I am back. Feeling like a new person.
Ready to create, inspire and write more than ever.
I am excited to bring you a fresh, new set of art and FREE
monthly challenges beginning in 2018!!

I hope you will join me as we set out for a year of
Creative Revolutions!!!

My Creative Revolution Part 2

“Creativity is more than just being different.
Anybody can plan weird; that’s easy.
What’s hard is to be as simple as Bach.
Making the simple, awesomely simple,
that’s creativity”
