A tide too high: A Bad Girl Rockstar Romance Kindle Edition

London-based Alec Stanford wants what his twin brother has, a home, a wife and children. But just because he’s one of the world’s most successful and respected businessmen doesn’t mean he’s good at personal relationships.

Mac Morgan and her band Polar Blaze, are international sensations. But being at the top doesn’t come easy. Working hard and playing even harder has taken its toll, and she’s advised to make some serious life changes. Determined to regain her health, the private coastal property owned by the Stanford family ticks all the boxes.

When Alec’s beautiful socialite wife files divorce papers, he thinks maybe he’s just not marriage material. But he’s not prepared for the chance meeting with a burnt-out rock star who’s hiding out from the media. And neither is his wife.

Who will Alec choose and who will he lose?

About the Author

I was born in the seaside town of Foxton, New Zealand. I have a Batchelor of Communication majoring in Communication Management and Journalism, and have worked as a newspaper editor, a photographer, and as a freelance journalist for a variety of newspapers and magazines throughout NZ. In 2015 A tide too high was judged a finalist in the American National Excellence in Romance Fiction Awards in two categories, Best First Book and Best Novel with Romantic Elements. I was very proud of it! My next major novel, The Nam Legacy is due to be published in June 2017. My husband Dennis and I are settled in the Horowhenua town of Levin not far from where I was born in Foxton. We live on a large property surrounded by lots of beautiful old trees. At the end of August all the kowhai trees are flowering and the canopy is alive with native tui feeding. By afternoon they are drunk on nectar and you wander the grounds at your own peril! I especially love the history associated with our property. In the early 40's it was part of an Air Force runway. Maybe one day it will feature in a story. Going Home won silver in the Independent Publisher Book Awards for Excellence in Publishing.

I was a little confused on why I had to wait 12 long chapters for the main character to meet.

This is a great book about two people who have already lived full lives and are both developed characters. The New Zealand coastal setting initially appealed the most, but the characters soon gained the upper hand. I like settings that are unfamiliar to me, however, and that was satisfied in the book. Mac and Alec meet in a way that's quite plausible, and they both have meaningful careers and meet as equals. Mac, a famous singer with her own popular band, is burned out and Alec, a wealthy businessman, is trying to finalize a divorce--it was a marriage that never should have happened. The love story is authentic and engaged me immediately. Although Mac and Alec both have money and privileged lives, family is important to them. Alec's family provides some very good characters that add a great deal to the story. I sympathized with Mac, who has a complicated relationship with her parents, because of a an early family tragedy. All in all Mac and Alec earn their right to be together. I highly recommend this book--excellent story, wonderful writing.

I just finished reading this adrenaline filled book. Carole Brungar has done such a great job bringing the world of a rock star living on the edge to life. I love characters like Mac who are flawed and vulnerable and far from perfect but who have you rooting for them because they are so authentic. Loved the beautiful setting which has made me want to visit stunning sounding New Zealand, loved the fast-paced story telling style, loved the grittiness of the characters and loved the romance most of all - an unlikely couple who frustrated me at times (especially Mac) but who had my heart from the moment they met. Congratulations Carole Brungar, I will be lining up to read more of your stories.

A good escapist read for a cold day/evening. Well written, interesting characters, relationships were well developed. I'd describe it as a touching romance with the odd twist. The end was a little predictable but the route to getting there wasn't.

What a great first novel Carole. I couldn't put it down. It was an easy read that took me on a journey of laughter sadness and excitement. I loved your use of some typically kiwi terminology! I became totally engrossed eager to find out what would happen next and was not disappointed. For me this book covered all the bases - a great story of two people which evolved into a steamy love story. Great characters, blended with the right amount of sexiness - baked in New Zealand - what a winning recipe.

I loved this story. Just as the story was heading in the right direction - wham - a twist that made you go .... NOOOOOO! It was a story that you felt you where there, the emotions and storyline were completely believable and I got totally got up in their lives. Then as the universe was just about to align again another twist that actually made me cry and could I feel my heart racing as I as reading through to find out what would happen. Brilliant - there needs to be a sequel as I'm sure there is still a story line there not quite finished.

The thing I loved the most about this story was the setting, New Zealand. My home country. The story started off powerful but around the 50% mark that drama-lama reared it's ugly head. While I don't mind conflict, it went on a little too long, and I found my interest waning, hence only 4 stars.

I really enjoyed this book. The story moved along at a good pace and the characters were strong and believable. I enjoyed the details about the New Zealand setting and the interjections of New Zealand dialogue that are a little different from UK speak :-) All around it's a great read. This is Carole's first novel and I hope it won't be her last.
