Color Hues #132

Welcome crafty friends! It's time for a new colour duo at the Color Hues Color Challenge. The colouors for Challenge #132 are Yellow and Blue. They were chosen by my amazingly talented teammate Stef Perry.

I could not wait to use the new Spellbinders Designer Purse cutting dies that were designed by my friend Sheri Ballantyne. Sheri has designed a whole collection called We All Have Baggage and it is so much fun and definitely fills a void that has not, in my opinion, been done before!

I made two different purses for my card using the challenge colours. It is so fun that you can customize your purses any way that you see fit. So many accent pieces that can take your purse from fabulous to even more fabulous! I started out cutting all the pieces in blue, yellow and a few accent pieces in gold mirror cardstock. I find it easier to do this rather that cutting as you go along and of course the extra pieces left over you can tuck away in your pocket for another card.

My background was embossed with the Spellbinders Diamond Plaid embossing folder and attached to a 5.5" x 4.25" landscape oriented card base.

The blue purse at the back was glued directly to the embossed panel with liquid glue. The yellow purse that is in the front was attached with thin 3D foam squares.

The sentiment was created from the coordinating Hero Arts Keep Calm stamp set. Two separate sentiments that go together perfectly. They were first stamped on white, trimmed down and matted with blue cardstock to form a thin border.

Color Hues #131

Today we start a new colour duo at the Color Hues Color Challenge. The new colors chosen by teammate Sheri Gilson are Coral and Green! A fresh Color palette for spring!

I used the Spellbinders Where Love Lands December 2025 Stencil of the Month for my card. I used Catherine Pooler inks in three shades of coral and three different shades of green.

There was lots of masking done on this card. There are 5 stencils and all my masking was done with the 5th stencil. With masking you can make each object a different colour if you like, the options are endless.

The sentiment is from an old My Favorite Things Stamps stamp set called Handwritten Happiness. It was stamped with VersaFine Onyx black ink. So crisp!

I matted the card base with a piece of coral cardstock that matches the corals of the stencilled design. The main panel was cut with the largest die from the Lawn Fawn Postage Rectangle Stackables die set. It was attached to the card base with foam tape for dimension.

I am also submitting this to Seize the Birthday Challenge 324!

Color Hues #130

Today we start a new colour duo at the Color Hues Color Challenge. Our lovely and talented leader Nancy Leppek chose the new duo at Fuchsia & Navy for this challenge. My teammates over on the Color Hues blog have once again created a wonderful inspiration gallery for you.

I used the new to me Lawn Fawn I Like Big Butterflies stamps and dies for my card this week, but let me tell you about my background first. I use the Pretty Pink Posh Leaves and Flowers Stencils for my background, I stencilled the leafy layer only with Catherine Pooler Dress Blues ink. I cut my panel out using the largest die in the Lawn Fawn Outside In Stitched Rectangles Stackables. Next I splattered some white acrylic paint onto the panel and set it aside to dry.

I matted my 5 1/2" x 4 1/4" with navy cardstock. Then I attached my leafy stencilled layer using foam tape. It leaves just a thin navy line around the stencilled panel.

Next I white heat embossed a few butterflies from the stamp set on Fuchsia cardstock and cut them out with the coordinating dies. I added a few white gel pen dots on the cheeks of the butterflies. That is a cute detailing tip from cardmaker Jen Shrkus, the queen of cute! I also added some Prisma glitter aound the wings of the pink butterflies. My quickie glue pen is starting to dry out a bit causing a bit of trouble getting the Prisma glitter to stick where I wanted it too. They were added to the card front with foam dots for some extra dimension.

The sentiment from the same stamp set was also white heat embossed on another piece of fuchsia cardstock and cut with a sentiment strip die. I added two rows of foam strips behind the sentiment to add more dimension.
