Hey! I’m Felix X Tigersonic,

I’m a sound artist who loves playing with music, videos, and art.

My tracks are quick, dirty, and full of life because I embrace all the little imperfections—after all, “humans are analogue.”I make beats while I’m on the go and polish them up in my studio in Islington, where I work as a Pro Tools engineer for other musicians. To see and hear some of the wonderful musicians I record, check the studio page
.

Critics like Linear Obsessional have called my music  “groove-based abstractica for the restless and the curious,” comparing my style to early ACR and On-U Sound, while Honest Music For Dishonest Times describes my sound as “engaging, super-varied, dub-influenced electronica.”

I’ve been around the block in the music world. My remix credits include icons like General Levy, Asian Dub Foundation, Genetic Drugz, and even the legendary Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan for Navras Records. My music has featured in Gary Oldman’s cult film Nil by Mouth, and various documentaries including Bobby Friction’s Generation 7/7. Plus, my co-production with Visionary Underground popped up on Nitin Sawhney’s Fabric Live 13 compilation.

Currently, I’m deep into experimental sounds, collaborating with London’s vibrant music scene, and playing around with my bass and tech toys.

In the past two years, I’ve been part of an improvisational orchestra, Lo-fi Ensemble which has opened new doors in my music. This experience led to exciting collaborations, especially with quartet C-Wot…. where we’ve explored the realms of lo-fi dub wave and experimental impro , and Etudes Study Group which is more performance art, but i get to sneak in some dubstep vibes…

I love creating tracks that are “dub minimalist” with a post-punk edge, influenced by greats like Scientist, King Tubby Adrien Sherwood and Eno.

My philosophy is inspired by Richard Feynman: “Don’t think about what you want to be, but what you want to do.” I hope to make art every day that reflects this ethos. This year I’m all about #nowplaying—making art and having fun.

Check out my latest TIGER GRRRR, where I explore if music can get you stoned. This short-play album packs 10 dubby tracks into 15 minutes, each under two minutes for those with busy schedules.

 GROTESQUALIZER review

Meet London producer and bass magician Felix Macintosh with a track that presents her intriguing new EP “GRRRR.” “Dirty Shiny Streets” is thick and smoky trippy dub. And you’re like a protagonist seen through Christopher Doyle’s psychedelic lens. Along with the cosmic spirits, you drift through the city neon night with its great secrets and mysterious neighbourhoods. The sound feels like transcendental pulsations, viscous lounge. Felix Macintosh has structured the song in a way that changes your perception inevitably. “Dirty Shiny Streets” is the music of the third eye in a concrete jungle.

DISCOGRAPHY

The Sunday Tribune spoke to Felix Tigersonic, known for curating industry alternative Meet-Up Smart MIx as well as producing and creating original sounds about her new release ‘Blipcuts’ for Linear Obsessional, Richard Sanderson’s adventurous SE London label.

TST: BLIPCUTS – such a great idea. And I love the result.  Straightforward, hard-hitting, glitchy sounds. Twenty tracks each under two minutes. Abstract, restless, sounds on the move. Where did the concept come from?

FT: I submitted a track for a Linear Obsessional compilation release. The parameters for inclusion  were basing it around the  MR James. Ghost story ‘A View from a Hill’, an old fave of mine, and making it exactly 2 minutes long . I love short form, so the idea of a  short tune for a short story was very appealing. I just carried on from there but it was a short tune with a short visual – blip cuts   I was very pleased when Richard Sanderson, the big boss at Linear Obsessional invited me to submit a cassette as he had kickstarted the idea.  read the rest of the interview here
