Do you plan to continue Lark's romantic story after she says she wants to go to the city? Because the ending, which cuts the story short when I was really into it, really put me off. Sorry if I seem annoying asking for more than you've already done.
So first of all great game with a great art style. It was my first time playing this kind of game, so it was definitely an original experience for me.
Anyway my questions :
What was your inspiration for the characters ? Did you get inspiration from other media or other real people ?
Second : im a little curious about the developpement was it a challenge or an experience ? (And maybe how it began ?)
Third : Will there be a discord or some kind of community social for this game ?
Anyway sorry for the number of question im mostly lurking and don't talk lot and sorry for my bad english.
Have a good day or night.
Thank you, we’re glad you enjoyed the game!
For our characters, we initially started out with basic archetypes (best friend, class president, bookworm, etc) that we fleshed out with character arcs inspired by other media or based on our own experiences. Some of the traits and dynamics were also drawn from real people, because it’s the small details that make characters feel three-dimensional. It would be interesting to do a deep dive/retrospective on each character someday!
The development actually began because we were joking that we could make a dragon visual novel/dating sim… It’s been almost six years since that started and now the game has grown so much in scope, lol. The biggest challenge was definitely nailing down the direction of the game and then actually finding time to produce the art and writing, but it’s been a really fun experience.
Sorry but there are no plans for a discord server or any other socials, as we don’t have the time and resources to manage it. If people want to make a fan server that is totally fine, as long as it’s clear that it is unaffiliated.
I noticed that in the current version, August and Finn seem to have had a story in the past. Will this story be included (or linked to) in the next update? And I also want to know if the story of August and Finn will have any impact on my story line with Lark? After all, I'm not quite sure what role the protagonist will play in the next update of the story. By the way, how is the progress ? (Please excuse my excessive rambling. I'm just too curious.)
yes, finn and august’s story will be expanded upon in the next update! none of the routes will have any direct impact on other routes; you can see them as alternate timelines based on the choices you make.
we are still working on producing art and figuring out sound design for the update, so it may be a ways off. thank you for sticking with us!
the scripts for finn and august's routes are done!! around 50k words spanning five endings will be added in the next update. we're very excited to share these new stories with you!
as part of a new extra, the main cast will be taking questions from the playerbase! if you have anything you'd like to ask, no matter how serious or silly, submit them to our question box. rest assured that answers will not contain any spoilers.
thanks for sticking with us! we appreciate all the support :)

Any news for future updates?
Future updates are still in progress! We’re planning to release two routes together at the next update, so production is taking a bit longer. Thanks for sticking with us.
Will there be a discord server or some community page for people to talk about the game?
Hi, thanks for playing our game! We don’t have any plans to make a discord server; our only official pages are this blog and the itch.io game page itself.
This update features three new CGs for Lark’s route, as well as some revamped tunes! For best results, we recommend starting a new game to experience these additions. Loading old save files from v0.4.2 or v0.4.3 may not crash the game but we cannot guarantee that the new content will load properly.
Thanks for supporting our game! This will be the last major content release for Lark’s route; future updates will focus on a brand new route. Please look forward to it!

The first full route is complete! Lark’s story spans 38k words (47k including side content) and has three possible endings: romantic, platonic, or… neither. We hope you go for all three!
In addition to the main story, there are a total of 20 side events as well, with many more to come in future updates. We plan to add a New Game+ feature to make it easier to see them all without having to complete a lot of additional playthroughs.
Unfortunately, since this is the only finished route at the moment, the game automatically sets you on the path to get one of her endings, so you don’t have the option to pursue one of the other dragons. Other dragons’ routes will be added in future updates, so please look forward to it.
If you encounter any bugs, please comment and let us know!

In the current version of Perihelion, we had a “phone” that functioned as a status screen for our fte system. Since the fte system went through an overhaul and the status screen is no longer needed, I decided to try and make a full-on text messaging screen for character dialogue. It turned out pretty well, although there’s definitely some room for better consistency and functionality. Here’s a breakdown of how I coded it, with a link to the full implementation at the end of the post.
(This guide assumes basic understanding of Renpy screens and python.)
Thanks for playing! There won’t be any sequels or continuations beyond what is already in the game, and this goes for any future routes we publish as well. Since we’ve gotten multiple questions and comments on this, I’d like to explain the thought process behind this.
For each route, the main character’s narrative arcs begin and conclude within the two in-game months; anything that happens after that is up to your imagination. The rest of Lark’s school year could be completely uneventful, or it could go in wild and unexpected directions, but the point is that the part of her character development that the story focuses on is already complete, and that’s why it ends where it does. In essence, there is nothing for us to continue.
Ultimately, the development process also necessitates a limited scope; if we created longer storylines for Lark then it would take time away from working on routes for characters who haven’t gotten theirs yet. It may feel short when you are playing through it, but each route takes a long time to develop and we want the story to be the best it can be while still feeling like this is a game that we can actually finish making. We encourage you to imagine your own continuation of Lark’s story and share it with other fans of the game if you are so inclined!
