Development
2010 - designed 2015 - written 2020 - prototyped movement and controls for 7DFPS 2020 2021 - more work on movement, submitted to 7DFPS 2021 2025 - added MAZE level for PROCJAM 2025 2025 - more work on controls, submitted to 7DFPS 2025 2026 - renamed to DREAD CHECK
For this jam I added a level called MAZE which is an attempt to do something no one has ever done before: make a 3d version of Castle Wolfenstein (1984).
Design
DRAUGB is a poem about my relationship to the Call of Duty franchise. Some of our history together:
In 2008 Call of Duty: World at War included Zombie Mode as a reward for completing the campaign. CRAUGB asks: what if Treyarch spent the whole budget on that instead? What if they didn't have a budget?
Between 2009 and 2019 Activision Blizzard published 11 other Call of Duty titles. I didn't play any of these.
In 2020 I was asked by Infinity Ward "How much will money will you pay to download 100GB of Call of Duty: Warzone? Will you pay nothing? We have your friends already." After much contemplation, DRUABG answers: in order to play murder online with MY friends I will need to receive an annual salary of $170,000.
In 2023 Microsoft launched its first Microsoft Azure region in occupied Palestine. It includes multiple facilities with availability zones designed to provide internet services to local organizations and their illegal surveillance and apartheid system.
At some point I played APE OUT, holy shit have you played APE OUT? That's way better than whatever I was trying to do.
