The Early Years
in Rally-Raid
Everything began in 1965 with Citroën’s first official participation in the East African Safari Rally.
Victories followed with the DS, the SM, and the CX. In the 1980s, the Visa was successfully entered in competition. But it was above all Citroën’s involvement in rally raid events, particularly the Paris–Dakar, that allowed the brand to quickly make its mark thanks to legendary vehicles such as the ZX Rallye-Raid. These successes marked the beginning of a long series of victories and helped forge Citroën’s reputation for technical excellence.

From 2014 to 2016, the C-ElysĂ©e WTCC became the car to beat, claiming three consecutive world titles with outstanding drivers such as JosĂ© MarĂa LĂłpez, Yvan Muller, and SĂ©bastien Loeb.
This period confirmed Citroën’s ability to innovate, adapt, and perform across all disciplines — from rally stages to racetracks.
