Unreal Checkers is based on the classic board game of a similar name, Checkers. In it, two players on opposing sides of the board play until a player runs out of legal moves, upon which the other player is deemed the winner.

On a player’s turn, they do the following move, to any of their pieces:

• Move a piece diagonal-forwards one tile onto an unoccupied tile.
  • If what would be a valid move is blocked by an enemy’s piece, and the tile opposite that piece is empty, you can land on that unoccupied tile and eliminate the enemy’s piece you “hopped” over.
  • If after landing from a hop, there is another valid hop, you must take it this turn.
  • If you move to the back row, closest to your opponent, then that piece is “Crowned” and becomes a “King” which can move backwards also.

After a player moves, the other player takes their turn. Play alternates until there is a winner.

Only a pointer is required to play Unreal Checkers. Moves are performed by first clicking on whichever piece you’d like to move. All valid tiles will be highlighted yellow. Then, click on one of the highlighted tiles to move to that location.

Unreal Checkers was programmed using Unreal Engine 4.27.2 using Blueprint as its primary scripting language.
