Information Sharing
What is the value of information sharing?
IJIS Institute core services exist to assist state, local, and tribal justice and public safety organizations achieve cross-agency, cross-jurisdictional, and cross-sector information sharing and safeguarding. Since our inception in 2001, we have assisted justice and public safety agencies, through our partnership with industry, achieve the successful application of standards-based information sharing solutions.
Two initiates that exemplify premier information-sharing exemplars include the Nationwide Suspicious Activity Report (SAR) Initiative (NSI), and, the New Jersey Information Sharing Environment.
Nationwide SAR Initiative
The IJIS Institute supported the NSI by providing program management, training, and system integration services during the implementation of operational capabilities at each of the 78 DHS designated fusion centers establish in the United States and territories.
Project Interoperability - New Jersey Information Sharing Environment
Information interoperability increases timely information sharing, reduces costs and redundancy, and leverages best practices – all steps to improve decision making for government leaders, industry, and citizens. Project Interoperability was an initiative led by IJIS Institute, funded by the Program Manager – Information Sharing Environment (PM-ISE) which was under the Office of the Director of National Intelligence, and sought to help government and the private sector identify a baseline of terms, tools, and techniques to create an information sharing network in mission-agnostic terms and for any type of information sharing.
