I had a LOT of fun with this game! Nice and spooky! The lore was interesting, and I'm excited to see what happens in the following nights.

One of the first things I did was explore the house before doing any of the initial tasks... I'm glad I did, because it made it easier to wander around the house while ignoring... the creature.

Not sure if you've already got the rest of the game figured out completely, but if I may make a suggestion; it was pretty easy to just look down at your feet the whole time while the creature kept appearing. I found myself walking around just staring at my feet for that last day instead of even risking looking up. If there was some sort of risk to looking at your feet the whole time, that would probably make the game a bit scarier. Maybe if there was some other creature that was small and crawled around the floor that you ALSO couldn't look at... I dunno! I think an incentive to not look at your feet could make the game a lot scarier though LOL

This is a really good concept for a balatro-like!

I played the game for a bit on stream and I need to go back and play more, I feel like this would be an easy game to get lost in with that "one more round" mentality.

I think it would be nice if there was a reminder during the shows of what combos should be on display... I fear I immediately forgot as soon as the tutorial screen went away. I think there's definitely something here, though. The art style is VERY cute and the gameplay loop is super solid. Good stuff!

I'm a bit of a self-proclaimed yaoi-head so I was VERY excited going into this one. The character art is really fun and the prose is great, it truly is a lot of fun to read. I also LOVE the way the backgrounds are done, that kind of mixed media style looks really nice.

I agree with some other comments that I'm not exactly sure what *happened* but I'm excited for further releases that will shed more light on the matter. I liked their dynamic and I gotta see more of them. PLEASE let them kiss!!

I like the aesthetics of this game, it kind of reminds me of Slender. I agree with the other comments about optimization, though, it definitely chugged a bit on my 3070. The audio design was also really strong!

I *think* the ending was bugged for me; I collected the key from the skinless man but I was unable to go through the main gate to continue. I ended up watching someone elses stream to see how the demo ended. It also seems like a lot of props and even a few buildings don't have collision... You can just walk through the building right behind the skinless man.

This is a pretty good rage game! It did its job in that it made me RAGE! I was unfortunately unable to get past level 6... epic fail of me...

I really like the aesthetics and sound design of this game. It's giving jet set radio! As a rage game, I think trying to control a big unwieldy ball is good gameplay... It's a very sisyphusian task.

It's hard to give criticism on a rage game, because I think a lot of my issues with the controls and gameplay could be easily explained away with the fact that it IS supposed to make you rage. That being SAAAIIID here are a few things I noted:

- The punch itself feels a bit weird, like you punch the ball, it takes a second to accelerate, and then it moves forward. I think if possible when the ball is punched it needs to move immediately.... I really didn't like the way punching the ball felt so I was pushing it around with my body more. Maybe that's why I couldn't get past level 6...

- This is kind of a personal preference, but I'd love if the character had a bit more air control, so the player could readjust a jump while in the air. I've found that *usually* makes first person platforming feel a bet better, and even though this is a rage game, trying to punch that darn ball gives enough rage to make up for more precise control over platforming.,

This game is cool, though! I'd love to see someone speedrun it.

NOOOO this is so devastating to see! Thanks for pointing this out ๐Ÿ˜ญ I'll definitely fix that and probably add a "respawn bus at last stop" feature for all the other deep corners out there I haven't found.

Thank you so much for playing!!

(1 edit)

I had oodles of fun with this demo!

Princess Maker 2 is one of my favorite games, and this game REALLY scratched that Princess Maker 2 itch! But like, if there were multiple princesses and they were k-pop stars and you had to manage them all!

This game is super duper polished visually and the UI looks great. That being said, I did have a FEW issues with the menus. I remember specifically when I decided I wanted to change my group name after initially making it, the game glitched out and I was unable to select a new name. Nothing game breaking, but I had to stick with my initial pick. There were also a few times where the game would prompt me with choices based on what happened during a rehearsal, but the dialogue seemed to be unrelated to what the choice was. Not entirely sure what the deal was! It happened a few times during the stream.

I think some of the minigames could use a bit of tightening... The one for in-person idol auditions felt really off especially, as there was a delay between pressing the button and the light stopping. I sort of got the hang of it when I replayed the minigame, but it was a bit frustrating, especially when the stakes are so high... I gotta get more girls for my k-pop group!

This game is super dense, with a lot of content in it, and I really didn't have many issues with it. I'm really excited to see more! I could see it getting pretty intense with money management, towards the end of the demo (before I knew when it would end), I started to get very worried that I was going to run out of money. That was pretty exciting! I loved the threat of failure!

Overall, there's a lot of fun stuff here, with a fun gameplay loop and concept. I'm realizing now that maybe I'm bias because I ALSO submitted a game to this jam about taking care of members in a band, but the vibes are way different here! Anyway, I'm definitely excited to see more.

I played the game here on stream around 1:03:30

I truly had SO much fun with this game. I dunno why, but I was super charmed by the graphical style, and being able to jump between isometric view and first person is really neat.

I will say, though, that the first person controls feel a bit jittery? I dunno how to describe it kind of feels like the camera doesn't move super smoothly with the mouse. I also think the controls could potentially be simplified a bit? I kept trying to click to use my items, instead of pressing the E button. I think it might feel better to have the click button grab ONLY when you've got the hand as your active tool, and clicking with any other item does that item's action? That being said, I *did* mostly play in first person, so maybe the controls make more sense in the other view.

Overall, though, this game was so thoroughly charming. I was so excited from the very start when Mr Archeologist was looking at my mouse. The mechanics were fun to play around with, and I'm excited to see more! ESPECIALLY whatever this cursed artifact mechanic ends up being! Hubba hubba!

I played the game on stream here around 33:00

I think this game looks SO nice! The lore seems fun, too, and I could see the story being interesting.

I'm excited for more mechanics to be added... The bones here are pretty cool!

The combat is pretty straightforward. I think it might be nice to add some sort of player interaction to it? As of now it seems like you just throw your guys into a battle and watch to see if they live or die. I think the combat could potentially be a bit more engaging if there was some kind of player interactivity involved. Maybe if the floating hand was holding a weapon or sword of sorts and you could wiggle it over the enemies to do a bit of damage... just spitballing here, but I think adding some sort of small interactive component to the combat could make it a bit more interesting, even if it barely did anything in terms of combat effectiveness.

Overall, I'm excited to see where this goes. The gameplay loop that's here is pretty fun, and I could see it getting pretty intense with more refined resource management systems in place!

I played the game on stream here at around 17:45

I think this game could be something really cool!

The aesthetics are really great, and I think merge mechanics are always fun. I'd be curious to know if any other mechanics are planned; it seems like there's not much of a reason to walk around or do anything with the player character when you can drag and merge all of the objects with your mouse.

I think some nice chill music and simple sound effects would go a LONG way in making the game feel more polished. The aesthetics are sooo good, so it would be awesome if there was audio to match.

I played the game on stream here around 2 minutes in:

This is so nice, thank you!

I agree with you, I think the feeding system needs some tweaking. I was playing with a system that would remember if a boy liked whatever food you had fed him. I didn't get to finish it in time for the initial jam release and I lowkey forgot about it ;_; I'll definitely look at adding that back in!

And yeah, saving is definitely next on the to-do list LOL! Thanks so much for playing!

Thanks so much for the feedback! Really quick I gotta say that I respect you SO much for all the feedback to the games in this jam... that's a crazy amount of work and dedication. Bravo!

These are some really good notes! I made the game initially for a game jam, so I didn't focus too much on optimization. That's definitely something I need to go back and do. Unreal loves to add all sorts of unnecessary bells and whistles that really tank game performance!

A map and compass is definitely something worth adding. Putting it on my docket! And something in the bus to say the current goal is a good idea... I really need to decorate the interior some more, so I bet there could be something fun there. Maybe I could add a bus destination sign to the front of the bus like public buses have? That could be kind of cute :P

Anyway, I really appreciate this! Thanks again! And I'll be sure to DM you on discord lol

This game is super DUPER cool, I am obsessed with how these diner management and tower defense mechanics intertwine. Really really cool stuff, super ingenious and it works really well!

I admittedly haven't gotten through the whole demo yet but from what I've played I'm super impressed - every part of this game succeeds aesthetically and I DO wanna eat all the monster food! I think that the writing is really strong and I'm excited to see how it progresses and blossoms into arcs like the forward hints at. I think this game could be something really really neat!

I don't really have much feedback to give, I liked pretty much every aspect of this game... If I was being forced to give a small nitpick, I guess I would point out that there's a dialogue choice where you can tell Jericho that your "life is like a tower defense game" and he and all of his crew members laugh extremely hard... Maybe this is cruel to say but I don't believe that Jericho and his team would know what a tower defense game is. I don't read them as gamers at all, but I AM very delighted to imagine them all going home after their grueling shifts to wind down with some Bloons Tower Defense. Sorry, this is a really small thing that truly doesn't matter but since there's such an emphasis on worldbuilding and characters in this game I thought I'd speak my peace LOL.

I played the first hour or so on stream around 59:00

OH LOL I CLOSED THE WRONG PANEL ;_;

kind of embarrassing to watch back... My bad!

I'm not suuuper familiar with this type of game, but it definitely felt like there was a lot to do and a good amount of depth to the mechanics. Cool stuff!

I think the tutorial could definitely be more in depth, as it ended pretty quickly, and I feel like it barely scratched the surface of what you needed to be doing in the game. The breadth of menus is definitely a bit overwhelming at first, and I think a proper expanded tutorial could help with that! Especially with mechanics like resources rotting, it would be nice to have more things explained.

Towards the end of my session, I was just messing around and seeing if there was a way to lose the game. I couldn't find one... it looks like no one will starve to death, and if your reputation gets low enough it just goes into the negatives.

I think I had a couple small issues with the UI, specifically in the "manage dormitory assignments" menu, but it wasn't game breaking and I could reset the ui by closing and reopening that menu.

I had fun with this game, though! There's clearly a lot of depth here, it's just a bit hard to know where to start.

I played the game on stream for a bit around 2:02:00

This game is genuinely VERY SCARY to me!

I want to start out by saying that because I think with some tightening up this could be legendary... it's already really really scary, and when I wasn't running into issues I was extremely uncomfortable in a way I don't often feel... That's super impressive to me!

Skinamarink is one of my personal scariest horror movies, so this game being like an interactive skinamarink put such a huge pit in my stomach. It was very effective! I was relieved when I ran into a bug that seemed to prevent me from making progress... you succeeded so much in making a scary game that I was thrilled to have an excuse to stop.

That being said, I *did* run into a weird gamebreaking bug on the night when the house is on fire, where everything went gray and it became impossible to explore the house. It happened on reload multiple times... super weird!

The audio leveling seems a bit strange as well. I'm not sure how much of it is intentional, because it DID add to the horror... I had to turn up the game pretty loud to hear the sound effects, and when the intruders started screaming it became EXTREMELY loud. The audio situation admittedly DID work as horror for me because I truly felt out of control in that situation regarding the sounds, but audio controls are usually not the cause of horror in a horror game, so I dunno if other people would feel scared or just frustrated with that.  Also, when I tried to turn the scream volume down, I could only turn it down to 50%. That's really funny if it's intentional, like you can't escape the horror, but I assume it's probably a bug.

Other than that, another small nitpick I have is with the controls and UI. Looking through the controls, there is a button listed for interact 1, interact 2, select, and TV select. If possible, it would be nice to consolidate all of this to one or two buttons - there was a moment while i was playing where I wasn't sure which of the interact buttons I needed to use.

Some of the goals were a bit unclear, but that kind of added to the horror a bit. I could see that being frustrating for some people, though.

Overall, I'm excited to see where this project goes! I think it could be really cool and I'm already very scared by it!

I played it here on stream around 3 minutes in:

This game is reeeeallly really good! I truly can't wait for a full release... I think the way that you're just kind of thrown into it had me immediately hooked. It kind of reminded me of the horror movie "In a Violent Nature," a slasher movie from the killer's perspective where it starts with the killer climbing out of his grave and it just kind of implies that a horror movie plot is happening around him. Delightful stuff!

I had a lot of fun with this one and ended up 100%-ing it (i think i technically got 104% LOL) and I am definitely excited to see more. The art style reminded me of FAITH and it worked really well, and the story was told in a cool way.

I think the only feedback I'd really give is that I feel a bit conflicted about the underground tunnel systems... It unfortunately didn't feel as tense as I expected, it mostly just felt slow wandering through them as the character. I LOOVE the fast travel system and how it's implemented, and I think that's a good system to be like, if you walk through the tunnels once you will unlock those shortcuts and you won't have to walk through it again, but since you need to have the tarot cards to unlock those fast travel points it can be a bit frustrating to not have that tarot card, and then find it, and then have to trudge back to the fast travel point. Not a huge deal or anything, but it definitely affected the pacing at the end when I was trying to find everything.

Other than that, though, I REALLY enjoyed the game and I'll definitely play more when there is more available. Just a really cool experience with good progression!

I played the game on stream here around 1:17:22

Overall I REALLY enjoyed playing this game... I'm a sucker for detailed environments with lots of little things to look at and read, and there was a lot of that here! Looking into some stuff afterwards, I can really respect how much research has gone into this game. I think it's super neat that it's based on real UFO research, that's so cool!

There was one point in the house where the alien mask and a nearby lamp appeared to just be floating, like there was supposed to be something that they were sitting on but it didn't spawn in or were set to be invisible? That was the only bug I ran into, but it wasn't anything game breaking.

I'm not sure exactly when the game takes place, but I gathered it was sometime in the 80s? If I may make a small nitpick that probably will only bother me... There was a radio broadcast in game that said they were playing a classic made my the musician "Ne0nDaddy." I understand that Ne0nDaddy is a real person who made music for the game and that's SUPER COOL, he did a really good job, but i don't believe that a classic song in the 80s that presumably came out at least 20 years prior would be made by a musician with a name that reads like a screen name... I think maybe a Neon Daddy could be a musician in the 80s but specifically the 0 instead of an o in Ne0n is very leetspeak screen-namey and it doesn't make sense for the time period. This is a small nitpick but it was the first thing i thought when i saw the subtitles LOL

Other than that kind of silly complaint, I had a lot of fun with this one! I played it here on stream around 33:13

This game is super cute!

I like the core ideas here, and I think this could lead to a really compelling gameplay loop. I especially like the idea of buying land to expand your little island and reaching other little islands to find more upgrades and things to buy... It reminds me of old minecraft skyblock maps a little bit. It's very compelling!

I don't think I have a whole lot to add that the other feedbackers didn't already mention, but I'd be excited to see how this game grows and expands. I think that there are really good bones here and the game could be really fun if there was more to work towards. Good stuff!

I played it here on stream around 23:30

I thought this game was neat! I like the way it looks and I like the subtle lore that sneaks its way in.

I tried to make a map of the game while I was playing but I was quickly overwhelmed... I understand that a lot of the horror comes from the feeling that you're going in circles and everything looks the same, but a few more landmarks might be nice to help you feel like you aren't just wasting time wandering through the same areas again and again? I also agree with the other review here in that it would be really nice to have a match counter somewhere in the UI.

Other than that, though, I really like the aesthetics of this game! It's a cool little experience. I played it here on stream at around 4:15

Thank you for playing!!

This is really good feedback, and I will probably implement all this stuff in future releases LOL. The tutorial definitely needs to be reworked (it's secretly really broken) and I dunno why I didn't think of implementing a quick swap between boys, that really feels like a no brainer.

I *definitely* need to add a save system, hehe... The game is bigger than I initially thought it was, and I'm surprised to see how long it takes new players to beat the game. It's nice to see, though, there's more content than I thought!

Thanks again for playing! This feedback is golden.

This game is SO COOL... The breadth of content already in it is really something!

I'm a big fan of the writing and general tone of this game, and I'm very excited to see where it goes. I've only played the first couple of hours so far, and the plot has done a great job of keeping me intrigued. The characters are also a lot of fun too, and I really appreciate the distinct voice that each one has.

The RPG elements are also really nice! I love the quick-time stuff in there, I'm always a fan of a paper mario-esque battle system, and the specificity of the enemies and their moves is really fun... I think my favorite was the vaper.

I could see the gameplay loop becoming super engrossing, balancing the RPG battles and the time management systems. Overall, I'm really impressed with this game and I can't wait to see more! Sorry, I feel like I don't have much meaningful feedback, I just really enjoyed it :P

I played the first few hours on stream here:

Thanks for playing! I really appreciate the feedback <3

The tone was a little hard to nail down so I will def work on making it more consistent if I add more content to the game. I'm so glad to see opinions on that so I can try to iron it out a bit better!

Kinda cringe of me but can I ask what your specs are? I truly need to get a cheap laptop on facebook marketplace so i can test games on worse computers than mine... The game itself is pretty simple graphically so I'd love to optimize it for lower-end hardware if possible. I know that's easier said than done with Unreal Engine though :P

And thanks for noting that potential Ian bug! Enough time has passed since I programmed his stuff where I don't remember what my intention was ;_; I'll look into it!

Thanks again woohoo! And I let my friend who made the music know that you liked it :P

This game has such a strong visual identity! I really love seeing FMV and I think the way it was implemented was really fun and cool.

I'm honestly really fascinated by the metastory... It liked how personal and specific it was. I love two narratives that inform each other and I think this could be really really interesting!

I agree with the other feedback about controls, in that it definitely felt non-standard compared to other FPS games. It DID make the game scarier, however... I didn't feel truly in control in a way that made the game more intense for me.

I played the game on stream here around 1:25:00

I really liked this game! I'm a sucker for a horror game where you do a repetitive task and something scary happens occasionally, though.

I'm curious to know if the game has any randomization? I replayed the game to see if I could get a different outcome and I was surprised by a scare that hadn't been there the first time... It was a really neat moment! I also really liked the tone of the writing... it felt true to the experience of working a service job.

I think the base gameplay of this is really compelling, and I'm excited to see what kind of scares can be built off of it. Good stuff!

I played it here on stream around 42:33

I had SO much fun with this game. Some of the jumpscares really got me! Feels like a great classic online horror game in an almost nostalgic way.

I think if I were to critique anything, I guess I'd want some more hints of lore throughout? I really enjoyed the note and the warnings from the other people at the boarding house, and I would have loved to see more hints of what exactly happened in room 3. I was also extremely delighted by the big skull jumpscare. Really fun time!

I played the game on stream around 23:28

I really enjoyed this! It was a great little bite-size VN with a fun amount of intrigue. Good stuff!

I played it here on stream around 1:27

Thank you so much for playing! I really liked your insight on the aesthetics, especially the font stuff. Not something I've thought enough about!

This was truly a delight to watch ;_; Your kindness towards ian was especially heartwarming. Thanks again!

Thank you so much for playing! I saw that you were streaming it while I was at a game night with some friends and I kept trying to sneak peaks at my phone to check it out... it was a very thrilling experience!

I really appreciate the feedback, it's kind of hard to figure out a good balance between keeping things mysterious and giving proper explanations LOL so this is really valuable stuff. And you're a great streamer! Seeing someone play blind without any knowledge of the weird mechanics is such a valuable thing to see... Thanks!

This seems like the perfect podcast game, and I can't wait to play it while doing something else on a second screen LOL. The visual style is immaculateee, I think the 2d and 3d assets work so well together in this style.

I think I agree with some of the other feedback about tedium... While I do *love* a nice mindless task to focus on, it seems like it's really easy to re-dirty things that you're trying to clean. With games like powerwash simulator there's not any fear that you'll have to re-clean anything you've already cleaned, which keeps the gameplay pretty chill. I felt like I had to move in a very calculated way to prevent more blood from ending up everywhere in this game. Not necessarily a bad thing, but it definitely made cleaning up feel like a sisyphean task. Other than that, though, the gameplay IS a lot of fun, and I really do like the gardening aspect and how it affects gameplay. Great job!

I played it on stream here around 2:07:35

This game feels SO SLICK and SO POLISHED I really don't know what to say other than GOOD JOB! It was a lot of fun to play and the gameplay loop is very addictive... it seems like a great "just one more round" type game. I'm definitely looking forward to the finished release!

If I had to give a nitpick, I think the filter over the game is REALLY COOL but it makes some of the text in the gacha balls a little difficult to read. Nothing game-breaking, but I definitely had to squint a few times to see what I was choosing.

Overall though, really impressive stuff! The game kind of reminds me of those Daniel Mullins games like Inscryption and Pony Island, where there's a core gameplay loop and then some sort of weird immersive world built around it. Nice!!

I played it here on stream around 1:15:45

I'm a SUCKER for an RPG maker horror game, and this was a lot of fun! I think the voice acting was a really nice addition and I especially liked the inclusion of that video you could watch.

If I had to nitpick, I think it would be nice if the maps were designed a bit more intentionally... it feels like a lot of the spaces explored don't seem to be very functional in-universe, and there's a lot of empty space in some of the rooms. It's nothing huge, but I feel like a bit more detail in some areas would make the game feel more immersive. The game itself was a lot of fun though and I really enjoyed the more meta aspects of the story!

I played it on stream around 38:00

This game has such a strong visual identity and atmosphere! I can reeeally feel the half-life inspirations. I think the vibes were really strong, and I am a sucker for a hororr game where you are given a repetitive task and scary things happen around you. Good stuff!

I played on stream right here around 1:45

This game is SO insanely pretty and nice to look at. I also feel like this gameplay loop could be really addicting in a full release. There's a WHOLE lot of promise here!

I think maybe the cooking section could be a bit more clear with what exactly needs to be interacted with. I think there was a moment where I was meant to hold a button to prepare food but the "hold button" sign didn't show up until I was already holding the button? I might be misremembering though, and I realize that this part of the game is in it's early stages. Once it's fleshed out I think this game will be SO awesome!

The combat is also really fun, I think the balancing act of collecting ammo, but not TOO much ammo, is a fun brain exercise.

I played the demo on stream here around 2:13:50

This game is REALLY REALLY neat!

I truly didn't realize that renpy games could be this complex... I definitely wasn't expecting such a compelling gameplay loop. Cool stuff!

It took me a second to understand the combat system but once i did it was very engaging. I don't think I've seen a combat system like it before... And I won't lie, the visual novel stuff DID have me blushing and kicking my feet. I am very very much looking forward to a full release, and I would absolutely pay money for this.

I played the first 2 hours or so on stream right here! I start around 2:13

this game has SUCH great aesthetics, I truly can't get over how pretty it is... It has such a strong identity and I don't think i've played anything quite like it. Really really good writing and music as well. Good stuff!

I played it on my stream here at around 15:30 if you wanna see a live reaction >_<

REALLY cool game with immaculate vibes! Definitely kept me on edge but i really liked how there was kind of a subtle humor to all of the horror stuff... shout out to the cashier crying in the corner after i told her she was FAKE. That's just how it is working customer service, I really feel for her.

I played it on stream here at around 2:37:00 but fair WARNING I ended up struggling with the puzzle so it might be a frustrating watch LOL (thanks for putting the playthroughs on the page it made it easy to cheat <3 )

YAY!

This is such a cool prototype and it gets me excited for whatever this future title might be... Great aesthetics and vibes, and good puzzles! I had a lot of fun playing and I especially loved the attention to detail in store fronts and mall aesthetics... gorgeous stuff...

I played it here on stream at around 35:30 and I swallowed a fly during the credits of the game like 30 minutes later which was a bummer but it didn't ruin the game experience at all!

Kind of gagged by how good this game is! I feel like usually when I play a game that was made for a game jam I go in with the expectation that it'll be incomplete in some way... this is like a REAL, meaty, finished game with great writing and themes and art and even GAMEPLAY? I don't think I've ever seen a more finished feeling project in a game jam...

Everything about it is really good! The aesthetics and the story are awesome. Great work from everyone involved!

I played the game on stream here at around 1:44:00 if you wanna watch:
