Holy shit. Really, really good. This is the darkest of entries I've read so far--the descriptions of what the various villagers are doing are amazing. The layout is very nice, and the Perplexing Ruins art rules!

I actually think it looks super cool.  A bit hard to read and not necessarily on theme--but still very evocative!

Thanks for the nice review! I was definitely thinking about arranging the keying around the map, I think that would work well. But I'm so on the idea of printed books/zines, I was worried about the map living right in the gutter of the centerfold =D.

Thank you!! Oops, it is statted for Cairn, I totally should have mentioned that--thanks, making a note to update.

Reeeally slick design! Nice illustrationds, great layout and I love illustrated cutaway map.  Just super impressive, visually.

For play, I find parts of this confusing, or wished elements interacted with each other more. But it's very imaginative, and there's a lot going on here. Like, there are all these ghosts, but I'm not sure what players would DO with them.

I love "a jewel hewn from the souls of 1000 thieves."

This is so fun and interactive!! The tables are great, and the writing is really delightful.
These magic users would fit in really well with Jack Vance's wacky wizards. Top marks on theme and writing.

The art-ful version is quite hard to read, and I don't think the design supports the writing much. But you thoughtfully included a printer friendly version--I will indeed be printing this one out to keep/hopefully play!

Instead of skittishly skirting the rough or rotten edges of pulp genre, you've plunged a shlarp knife into the pit of the fruit.

Oh and I forgot to say, I was psyched to see that you made this for FAR, because I just read the rules the other day, and that's a great lil game. I think the FAR style stat blocks are attractive, but take up a lot of space, which you could have made good use of here.  If you know what those the little bubbles in the FAR stat block next to MAG are, lmk (spell slots maybe??).

Sleek, lovely design! The map is incredible. It's super legible and usable, but pulsing with life and interest--it looks unique. AND fits well with the rest of the design. I'm going to learn from this map, and I'm gonna show it to my students next time I teach a cartography class.

For playability, I think I'm missing some info about interacting with the dragon. And I think the dungeon could use a couple more creatures/NPCs. But I'm sure this is space constraint stuff--you wanted to include a nice cover and map. I ran in to the same problems in this jam.

You could easily expand on this and make a sweet 8-pager! I wouldn't be mad if that map was a spread =).

Damn. This really, really good. Unsurprising, because you've assembled a crack team of experts to assist. But I love the premise, the writing, all the creepy skin stuff. This feels very playable, and very Appendix N. It would also fit really well into the UVG or Vaarn, places I am fond of.

Gus's maps are fantastic. The non-cutaway map makes a great cover.
If you were to expand on this (which I rather think you should!), some more art and ornament to set the tone would be great--but obviously we were very space-constrained in this jam.

You nailed the pulpy premise. The writing is excellent. Really imaginative creatures and NPCs! And it looks nice, too.

I was a little confused about what was going on spatially--since you used a flowchart/diagram style pointcrawl, a sentence up top that simply explains *what* location we're exploring would have really helped me.
Like, "the strange submersible ship has crashed into a lighthouse, and is beached and exposed. You're going in to look for treasure." But I think I mostly understood after reading the whole thing and this seems like it would be a blast to play.

Wonderful writing, clear and full of imagination. Visually, it leaves me wanting, but that's obviously not your focus. This dungeon is chock full of weird and interesting ideas!

Really great map and presentation! I could skim this once and run it, no problem--and it would be FUN.
Love the Electro-Lich , that's fresh!!

Just incredible writing and layout. Super compelling and easy to read.

I'm guessing this is very in line with some Appendix N. stuff, but I ahven't explored the more sci-fi end of Appendix N.
I do think I'd have a hard time running this--feels very social and complex. That's just a matter of style, though.

This is a *really* great module, skillfully fitted into 4 pages.

I like that you presented this as, like, a newspaper? I really enjoy that diagetic twist. This is a super unique entry. The silly tone feels very in line with the DIY-zine-spirit of the 70s, even though the art isn't trying to mimic a retro style.

I really like the implied setting, it comes through nicely in the stat blocks and the oracle!

...then they're probably toast, before too long! Unless they can cut their way out, or get Vylziangk to puke, sneeze, or... otherwise eject them. Maybe they'll come up with something clever!
Thanks for your comments, glad you liked it =).

Nice writing! Clean layout and I like the color choices. The Moonchild is a very cool and unique creature.

I like the the things you've left out, for the most part it successfully adds an air of mystery/leaves spaces for the GM to fill in their own stuff. The one thing I wanted to know more about was 'Journal of Eliad,' since that name was only mentioned once, and it sounds like you had something specific in mind!
Nice work ;)

I like the cover, interesting design (though very low res).
Definitely hard to read, pink text on what is effectively a light grey background is not readable, even for someone with good vision.

Some interesting ideas and interactivity with spinning walls and stained glass and such--but I'm a bit unsure what the adventurers would be doing, and why.

Oh nice, I think something about the spelling was tickling my mind, but I didn't notice, hah.
Yes, it's the same Jamie! (though I didn't go to VCU)

Look at this awesome map!!!

Just really, really good writing.

Damn, wow, this game is really inspiring.  I've only read it so far, but I love the system. VERY generous of you to put this SRD out for free, with awesome art, layout and writing. Obviously lots of love is being put into it. This dark fantasy aesthetic is not even really my thing,  but I love it regardless.

The 20 page zine feels a perfect length to be comprehensive, but leave enough gaps for players to make it their own.  The fact that you call it a wargame with rpg elements automatically put me in a different,  interesting frame of mind. Some of the rules are a little confusing, but I know it's still in development,  and you gave yourselves a tight page count restriction to cram in a lot of good stuff.

I'm starting up a little solo pocket game for myself, excited to try it out.

Excellent work!! Thank you <3.

Thanks! Don't hesitate to grab a copy for free =).

Glad you like it! I'm definitely working on more stuff, though my attention has wandered from EB for a while. I'd like to get back to it!

Let me know if you use any of this material, and how it goes 😃.

Thank you! I love your art!!

Thank you, so glad you like it!! If you end up using anything from it, please let me know how it went =D. I'd love to play with and expand on this little setting in the future!

Thank you!! I hope to get Vol. 2 started up soon ^_^

Hey, yes, absolutely!! I appreciate that. Thanks for spreading the rpg love!

Ben's podcast is awesome, and your episode was really fun to listen to!!

Thanks very much!

Oh my god I love this!!

Absolutely! Or maybe we'll find out more in Vindle's eventually forthcoming Beastie Almanack Volume 2.

This is really cool and useful, thanks for sharing your skills!!

Thank you for the feedback!! There are definitely meant to be blanks for the GM or players to fill in. What do YOU think a Bindywig is?? I think it's something shadowy, cunning and cruel, that which lives in the ruins of the Burned Village... it *might* let you live, if you can make it laugh or teach it something new!

I definitely hear you about the hyperlinks--I made this with photoshop , laser printer, scissors, tape and glue. I like working kinda analog. Not sure how to make it searchable/add hyperlinks since it's all image files! I'll keep this in mind for the next project.

Thanks, I really appreciate that!!

Thanks for the kind words, and thank you for looking!!

Amazing drawings!!
I *love* Splatbook, thanks to you and John for putting it out!!

My first stab at publishing something on itch, dabbling my toe into this amazing DIY rpg community!

A map to explore along with ideas and prompts for running game in this wacky city setting. Game agnostic, but this was made for/inspired by Electric Bastionland by Chris McDowall.

I love drawing maps and stuff, but this was a learning experience, didn't have much of a plan when I started and it evolved a lot. My next offerings will be more thought and methodical, I expect =-). Thanks for looking, lmk what you think!!
