developer mode guide!!!

enabling dev mode

to enable dev mode, press the X key on the title screen

when you start the game, go to options and go into the dev section.

the stuff

now you will see 6 options.

• developer console: enables the developer console. it allows you to change which room you are in, change the amount of lives left for a player, and also restart the game. the console also lists "sheen_mode", but it is incredibly hard to type in (pressing shift copies the last character you typed??? also every key on the keyboard corresponds to a character, even the esc key) and also it doesn't work.
• record all matches: allows you to record matches.
• save demo on the fly: allows you to enable saving matches as demos instantly. we'll get to what demos are in a bit.
• frogger: allows you to replace sprites. view its gamebanana page here
• music remixes: adds music remixes, but i'm pretty sure they're not here.

demrec

the most interesting one of these is the option "demrec menu". pressing it sends you into the fabled demrec menu.

pressing "demrec info" tells you this:

"Demrec is a tool for Pizza Tower Fighters, created and developed by vadimos (aka: Котяра Мяункий; Vad2010; _vadimos; PICO), which is able to record your battles and store them as '.demrec' files."

i'm pretty sure it means that you record your battles as demo files that demrec can then open, probably relating to "record all matches" and "save demo on the fly". it's pretty much the same as how you can record your doom playthroughs as demo files, then open those files up in the game, where you can see the gameplay.

conclusion

this is a very cool easter egg (maybe) that you can enable easily. i just have one question... what the hell is shein mode

like the UI, the levels, the gameplay. there's a build where bacontu can bounce around with a dive and that shit's gone. the tv looks different, they opened a fucking dark fountain in the pause screen but in another build there's a disk, completely different main menus in every build, it feels very different every build.

ok so if you know something about pizza tower you'll know that to play as the noise, you need to beat the game as peppino.

but actually you can just hit peppino 100 times on the title screen and this also unlocks him.

in cheesed up, doing this will show an ominous screen of the noise staring at you that says "you've already unlocked him."

this boots you back to the title screen, but if you do it again...

the game will close after this screen shows up.
