Wow this was really such thoughtful feedback, thank you so much for taking the time to do this. I'm new at releasing things online so its really so helpful to hear people's critiques as I iterate the prototype. I'm taking a lot of this into consideration for the next version! I had enemies in an earlier version but I didn't like how they turned out so they've been on the backburner. And I agree about the animation. It's really hard for me to get a sense of how hard or easy the game is since I play it so much during development, so that is really helpful too.
Thanks again, and I'm happy to return the favor with some thoughtful feedback about whatever you're working on if you'd like!
Hey! I like this game, it's cute and I like the music and overall vibe. I think the biggest thing for me that was hard was that the enemies all cycle differently each time you die. Like, in my favorite platformers, if you die, you have to execute basically the exact same series of events to be able to get through a section, and you have to be really precise about it. With your game, the enemies are in different places each time, so you have to make adjustments after you die each time rather than just being more precise. This made it hard and kind of frustrating instead of hard and satisfying. I hope that makes sense, happy to explain more if not. Otherwise, I like the checkpoint system and the story and art made it so I was really rooting for that lil guy. Cheers!
Hello lovelies! I'm working on my first game and I'd love some brutally honest feedback. Is it fun? Would you play the full game? Is it easy or hard? how are the visuals? did you find any bugs? All critiques welcome. The game is a pixel-art crystal collecting platformer.

This game is pretty adorable, I like the concept. I kind of got bored after like ten cats or so, I think if there were more things to buy and more ways to decorate I'd have wanted to play for longer. I think if you want to keep going you could make more to do! Bonus points that there was a cat named Light Yagami
COOL I love that you did this so quickly for a game jam, it's just the right simplicity for a 3-4 day project. I think a lot of times people try to do too much for short projects and this game is the perfect amount. Simple enough to be straightforward but comprehensive enough to stress me out about my dying kingdom.
This is a cool game! It's clear you've put a lot of time and thought into it. I like the music and SFX, they really fit the game vibe. I also really like your plant graphics. I got softlocked at one point because I was trying to move some nails and staples around and got stuck in between them, I think maybe it didn't think the player was grounded? I also felt like sometimes I had to be sooooooo precise with where I was placing objects, it might improve overall game feel if this was a little more forgiving? Anyway overall this game brought me joy, good story and aesthetics. Hope to see more!
Released this demo of my first game, I'd loooooove some feedback. 2D pixel art platformer!

The game is a 2D pixel art platformer where you can find and collect crystals. Some crystals are common and some are rare. Find rare crystals and try to complete your collection! And learn fun crystal facts along the way!
There is only one level so far as this is a work in progress, but more levels are coming soon. I've been learning unity in my spare time and this is my first ever game on itch, so I'd really appreciate if you'd take the time to leave a comment and give me some feedback. Thanks for playing!
