Thanks for the response dude
I am the actor you met in the stairwell at your school campus and talked to you about game design. I told you I would play, and review your game when I got the chance, and well I am a man of my word!
TUNNEL felt really nice to play, for most parts I could not even tell that this was a low budget game. The graphics where nostalgic, sound design was good, and the tone/vibe you've created for the game was perfectly hit.
Graphics where very PS1 era style to me. It felt very familiar for me, and almost a sight for sore eyes. Reminded me of simpler times, and simpler games, ones that don't hand hold, give you a hard time, but make you want to continue. The red highlight around collectable objects made them easy to spot, which was a very nice add.
Game mechanics where well made. I had some fun abusing the physics and holding a box while jumping to fly out of the map on parts of the map. However my favorite would have to be the enemy design, I had no clue how to fight it until i accidently hit it with a lamp and it ran away, which resulted in me putting lamps in front of vents to keep the spiders from pursuing me further.
The game had a Metroidvania feel, with a lot of going to one place, get a fuse, then go back use fuse, get a key, and so on. I am not a fan of that play style, however with this game having some unexpected horror elements to it, it felt more fun.
I have not played a horror game in years and there where moments where I was indeed scared.
Great game, loved it, keep it up, if you ever need a playtest or an actor for mo-cap or voiceovers, reach out!
