Jetpack Stats Plan: Free or Paid

Depending on your site’s nature and business activities, you may qualify for a free Jetpack Stats plan, or you might need to upgrade to a paid license.

Free access to Jetpack Stats is available on personal, non-commercial sites. Commercial sites require acommercial Stats subscription. However, if your commercial site receives fewer than 1,000 monthly views, you’ll still have access to limited Stats features without needing to purchase a paid plan.

If your commercial site is on a free plan and exceeds 1,000 views in a single month, you’ll receive a notification with a deadline to upgrade to a commercial plan.

Commercial Jetpack Stats is also included with the Jetpack Complete and Growth plans, which allow up to 100K and 10K view limits per month, respectively.

Understanding what makes a site commercial

Sites with commercial activities that exceed 1,000 views require a paid Jetpack Stats plan. Examples of commercial activities include:

  • Loading code on your site for ad services like Google AdSense, Taboola, Infolinks, or ExoClick.
  • Affiliate links.
  • Using live chat plugins or services.
  • Promoting a business or service.
  • Using a domain recognized as commercial.
  • Accepting donations or using donation plugins.
  • Running on e‑commerce plugins or platforms.

Benefits of a paid subscription

The Jetpack Stats paid subscription includes features like priority customer support and advanced features such as UTM, Regions & Cities in Locations, and Devices Stats.

What you pay for Jetpack Stats will depend on how much traffic your site gets. Read more about Tiered Billing.

Below is a breakdown of Stats access based on commercial classification, traffic volume, and subscription type.

Jetpack Stats features based on commercial status, traffic, and plan type

Commercial sites with high traffic (1,000+ monthly views)

  • Must purchase a commercial Stats plan to unlock full features.
  • Limited to 7-day highlights.
  • 7-day traffic charts only.
  • All other Stats modules are hidden.

To clarify the difference between 7-day highlights and 7-day traffic charts only, look at the image below, which shows what the traffic chart looks like in the free limited mode for commercial sites over 1,000 monthly views:

The part at the top shows the 7-day traffic chart, while the row underneath is the 7-day highlights. Those sections are the two sections displayed and available on the free tier for this classification (Commercial sites with 1,000+ monthly views).

Commercial sites with low traffic (fewer than 1,000 monthly views)

  • No purchase is required to access core stats.
  • Full dashboard access is available.
  • Only advanced modules (like UTM, Regions & Cities in Locations, and Devices) are hidden.
  • A non-dismissible upgrade banner appears.

Non-commercial sites

  • Free access to core Jetpack Stats features regardless of traffic volume.
  • Advanced modules (like UTM, Regions & Cities in Locations, and Devices) are gated behind a paid plan.
  • Paid upgrade banner is dismissible.
  • PWYW (pay-what-you-want) users have the same access as free non-commercial sites.

To obtain a non‑commercial Stats plan, your site needs to be classified as non-commercial in our records. If your site isn’t marked as non-commercial, you can dispute your site’s commercial classification.

Pay-what-you-want plan option for non-commercial sites

If you own a non-commercial site but still want to contribute to Jetpack Stats, you can choose the pay-what-you-want option:

  1. Head to https://wordpress.com/stats/purchase (note that this link is only useful if your site is NOT classified as commercial).
  2. Scroll down to the Obtain a non-commercial Stats plan section.
  3. Check the boxes that make your site non-commercial.
  4. There is a “Your monthly contribution” cursor. Make a contribution toward the service if you would like.
  5. As you add our contribution, the Stats features listed above on the page will unblock.
  6. When you’re ready to set your price, click the Contribute now and continue button to head to the checkout page.

WooCommerce sites and Stats plans

WooCommerce sites are considered commercial since they are online stores. If you don’t sell anything in your WooCommerce store and want your site to be identified as non-commercial, you must deactivate the WooCommerce plugin altogether. Otherwise, your site will be classified as commercial, and you will need to purchase a Stats plan.

Non-profits and Jetpack Stats

We classify non-profit organizations (including registered charities) as commercial if they solicit donations, sponsorships, dues, or paid memberships. The same applies if the website displays advertising, affiliate links, or engages in e-commerce. The websites classified as commercial are required to upgrade to a commercial Stats plan.

Educational institutions (schools and universities) and government entities, regardless of their organizational status, do not qualify for non‑commercial Jetpack Stats licenses.

If the website of your non-profit organization was classified as commercial, but it does not engage in any of the above commercial activities, you need to follow the Dispute your commercial classification steps.

If your website is classified as non-commercial, you can continue using Jetpack Stats for free or opt for a pay-what-you-want option from your purchase page.

Dispute your commercial classification

If you believe that your website’s commercial classification does not accurately reflect its current activities, you can request a re-evaluation of your site.

In that case, you can:

If your site is then classified as non-commercial, you won’t need to upgrade to a commercial Stats plan.

Implications of not upgrading to Jetpack Stats

If you run a commercial site and choose not to upgrade to a Jetpack Stats Commercial plan, you will still have access to Jetpack Stats. However, functionality will be limited to 7-day highlights and 7-day traffic charts. All other free features included in the core Jetpack plugin, as well as any paid subscriptions, will remain unaffected.

Compliance

Please note that non-compliance with these terms can immediately suspend Jetpack Stats services without notice. It is essential for you to correctly identify whether your site is personal or commercial and select the appropriate plan.
