Really wholesome to have so many community copies available. I claimed mine, but will definitely buy the physical release after Christmas.
So.. yeah, I love this system. Really neat and carefully created. It's the type of indie TTRPG I really enjoy seeing : niche trope with a very good writing (vague enough to spark creativity ; clear enough to perfectly convey what it wants) and I already know what type of tones I wanna give to my games only by reading the book ! I love how tactical and narrative the game can be and design-wise, you nailed the 'game-ification' of the magical girl trope with the concept of Power Level that is about the whole team and everything.
Like a lot, my only gripe is the absence of bestiary. It has the potential to be veeery thematic and give inspiration. Anyway, it's only a minor gripe for me since I'm always very excited to imagine and homebrew new things. I'll be DMing the game in my french actual play for sure, since it's very inspiring !
Very excited for the supplements you have in mind for the game (and excited in general for your works, since it seems like I found another creator I like !)
This is a really neat system! I dunno why there's so many community copies, but it's really neat that I was able to grab one while there's still any left. I feel, in return, that I should review this game, so here's my honest opinion;
This game has a really great take on the Magical Girl trope. The thematic elements and the implied story here are all just great. There's just enough to let you know what the overall tone is, but little enough to let you fill in the blanks. It can be as violent and gory, or as comedic and whacky, as you want. If I were to get a group together, I imagine I'd have a blast with this!
Combat mechanics are great. It's a really cool, refreshing take on the usual 'Roll d20s and see if you hit'. The Harm Pool mechanic is especially nice. The idea that my character could have a scar eternally at the cost of survival is really cool, and opens up great roleplaying opportunities. The spells are also really nice.
If I had ONE singular gripe, ONE issue with this game, it'd be that there's no OFFICIAL bestiary, so it's gonna be a bit of a pain having to write multiple throwaway creatures. But other than that, everything is great.
How big of a map are you expecting battles to take place in? Because in my first fight I ran the players had a map of about 20x20. The players are able to schmove around the map during their turns with no issue. But all of the guys I had were able to move so little. Since initiative is also speed, they're only allowed to move like 1 or 2 spaces while players run circles around them.
i just wanted to be sure i wasnt doing something wrong because I think im going to start adding enemies primary stat to their speed to make it manageable.
Adding their primary is smart, and probably something I should have added, and will probably add as an additional rule in one of the future supplements. Usually I ran on very small grids, but also there were typically more melee players than ranged. Either way I think making the minions a little faster is the way to go.
So question- if you guys ever decided to update this, will there be more weapons added in? I'm kinda curious what y'all would do for like- a scythe. Or something.
haha that’s funny I was literally talking yesterday about adding a scythe in one of the supplements I’m trying to put out. More weapons will be included in supplements as I release them, but they’ll be on the same “paid or community copy” system as the base game.
Question! How do/would you handle skill checks in the game? The statistics look like they would work fine for them but I am unsure what the target numbers and such might be?
Usually for skill checks people choose two stats that work best for the skill and pick one to be primary and one secondary, and then roll like combat (with more hits = doing better)
How do I handle bosses in this game? The book says Witches count as bosses, but I don't think it specifies how a boss differs from a normal enemy. What should I do if I want the boss to be a single opponent vs the team?
I responded on discord, but going to reply here for anyone else:
Usually for bosses I just inflate their stats and if the boss is dying too fast or missing too much they go into their next Phase (I buff them even more). It's kinda vibesy. you can steal abilities from the weapons too. and for Witch bosses you can make them a few PL over the main characters.
Question: With Gun's Trait: Ranged, is it only basic attacks or all attacks that gain that range? e.g. if I have Gun and Brass Knuckles as my weapons, can I use Brass Knuckles' Lariat at range?
all attacks should get that range, which means all abilities that don’t otherwise specify adjacency or range get that range. good luck out there soldier
Question! My friends started running it a few days ago and I'm doing double Microphone. Since Stage Performance changes spells to Burst or Aura, how does this effect spells like Entangle? If I get 3 success rolls do I burst off 3 targets with it? And the Mosh Pit quirk, is this a free spell CAST or free offensive spell or does the spell give it's effect to my attack?
Stage Presence would mean that all enemies within your burst or aura range would be affected by Entangle, no rolling required. This is the same for all spells like Cure, where you would normally pick one ally, it could affect all allies within your burst/aura. The only exception is spells that explicitly state they are not affected by stage presence.
For Mosh Pit, spell attacks essentially mean you can do a basic attack and cast a spell with the same action, but the spell is not a burst or aura, and affects the target of your basic attack, which can depend on what your basic attack’s range is. For Microphone, that’s a single-target melee attack unless you also have the Soundwaves quirk. (It’s one of Gun’s traits, but now I realize I didn’t put a page reference for it!)
As an example, you both roll your typical basic attack against someone, and regardless of any hits, you can also cast a spell against that target. If it’s a spell that can normally target multiple entities, it would still only affect the target of your basic attack. (However, if your basic attack can hit multiple entities & the spell is single target, it would have the reverse effect and hit all of those targets)
So far loving what I see, can't wait to run it. Rules look intuitive and light which is perfect for players that have a preferred set of rules to always play. I definitely could see running a few seasons with a group to see whats the longevity.
I bought a physical copy at a local game store which caused this game to be my back up for a session. Everyone had fun, easy for new players, but just enough crunch for people get into it and have fun. Highly Recomended, also the artwork is phenominal!
Bloody interesting premise! If you are handing out review copies, I would be quite glad to feature it in my Youtube channel. Is there an email where I can contact you?
Fantastic game! Though I have a question on a thing I noticed. The bat's first trait and one of its tier one abilities are the same. Are you meant to choose one of the traits for the weapon and the ability is the way of getting the second?

Best wishes for 2026 <3
Thank you! A lack of a bestiary initially was a time constraint issue I just needed to get it out. It’s been On The List for sure
YAPPING AHEAD.

9.8/10!
definitely need to write up a bestiary at some point lol. I just like having community copies up so I add them whenever they get low :) thank you!

I really want to buy the physical copy, too - does that just happen automatically if I pay $30 or more?
Hi I didn't see your comment until now! Sorry! https://spacepenguin.ink/products/daisy-chainsaw you can buy the physical here
Thanks!!
If this is the font I think it is, I love it! I use it in my stream, haha.
Grabbed a community copy, if I give it a play I'll make a review. Thanks for the opportunity and cool concept!

Do you roll the d6 for burnout every time you get burnout or only after you go over the soft cap?
Only after you go over the soft cap!
the plaintext (Bighog . games) link isnt working, is there a mirror? it was a connection timeout if thats relevant
yes, I will update the link when I’m on my computer again. you can find it at https://dreamware.press/games/daisychainsaw
i never took down the bighog.games website so i also have to look into why that’s not working. thanks for letting me know!

The game is a lot of fun to read and play. Any chance for expansion book about downtime and stuff, Charlotte?
Mm, maybe! But I haven’t really thought about it. I figure people generally know what it’s like to live mostly regular lives
Haha i guess you are right!
it would still be nice to have a mechanical framework for it.
Plus also fun to dig into how Scars and magical powers can make life difficult or easier
I didn’t make a mechanical framework for it because I didn’t want it. You are welcome to!
I bought a physical copy at a local game store which caused this game to be my back up for a session. Everyone had fun, easy for new players, but just enough crunch for people get into it and have fun. Highly Recomended, also the artwork is phenominal!
thank you!!!
Is there a way to be notified if and when additional community copies are available? Thank you!
I added more now! I forgot to check itch for a few days
Thank you so much!
Thank you for the copy! I will check it out for sure
Is the examble of the 3-length cone right or is it supposed to be backwards
it is correct
Like that pixel art!
thank you!
I am so tired but.. I think its 45 combinations? provided you can't pick the same weapon twice.
You can pick the same weapon twice but ime it’s more fun to not
have to run this soon lets fuckin go
LETS GOOO
Cool game! Congrats for the full version release, Charlotte and team!
thank you!!

Thanks, email sent!

Oh no! That’s a mistake, thanks for pointing it out! I’ll have an update soon.
the correct ability text is:
Bell Ringer - Harm
Make an attack and if successful, the enemy is Stunned for 1 round.
Okay that makes sense! Like I said you've got a great game here and my partner has been loving every bit of it, hopefully we can play it soon.
Immaculate vibes, spectacular layout and truly exciting design all tied together with some radical prose - This game really has it all!
thank you so much!!
the term disaster master (DM) gives me life. Plan on purchasing a copy when I have the budget for it.
thank you!!
I haven’t played this yet but the premise and visuals alone are so so intriguing. Excited to get into this! 💞✨
thank you so much!!
Hi, I was wondering if you’re planning on finishing the game?
Sorry for the late reply! I am working on a 2.0 with new & refined mechanics right now.
