Ordered through SPI on a whim, thanks for the project.  The citrus lo-rez look gives very Gameboy vibes.  Checked it out on the provided PDF last night and working it out with a buddy.

Per pages 13-14 my confusion is:  Does using a Companion's Trait count against the limit of using a Companion twice in a Dungeon?  Or does the limit of two only apply to Encounters where the Companion uses a Stat and Recorded Die?  What was your intention?  I could see it both ways.

It's clear that each Companion's trait can only be used once a Dungeon.   Once a Companion is Defeated their Trait cannot be used I'm assuming.

Appreciate it

I recall the intention was that the limit only applied to when the companion was actually used

Can you combine heroes to fight bosses? I can't make a 13 for the demon boss (-1 TN, 2x +1 skill, 3 in att or magic and a 6 on the die is only 12). I feel like I'm missing something.

When you beat the demon lord you should have all your rooms upgraded, so the bonuses scale with room/castle level

Oh yea, it was late and we were just ignoring the tier penalties. That changes everything!

hello out there. i just received a physical copy from spacepenguin.ink and was just wondering if there's a playthrough anywhere online.? thnx

I’m not sure off the top of my head, I know there’s been some reviews on youtube and tumblr but I can’t remember by who

thnx for the reply - i'm having a great time.! cheers+

I bought the physical game at Goblin Bros. Games & Gear in Santa Rosa and popped in here to grab the more easily-read printable file as well as to say it’s a lot of fun!

I’m glad!!

I really love this game! Feels and plays almost exactly like a text-based adventure game from twenty years ago. The dungeon-crawling is fun and straightforward and building up the actual keep is satisfying. I’ve never played a TTRPG that feels so much like a different medium. I had a great time.

Full review over on my blog!

I'm stupid for waiting so long to read this - it's *awesome.* Definitely cannot wait to see more of it, and to play with some similar ideas myself! Thank you for making such a cool toy <3

Thank you!!

I would absolutely fiend for some more downtime-y nonsense for this game... but I also love how clean it currently is, so maybe that's over-egging the pudding.

that’s a good idea, a lot of gacha games have downtime type stuff

Hey there, I haven't started playing this game yet, but do you plan on releasing a plainly formatted, light mode, or print friendly version? The current design looks cool (I'm frankly a sucker for pixel fonts) but as someone with worsening astigmatism, the dark background combined with the pixelated headers make it hard to read.

yes, it will be released after the editing process is done

It is released!

Hello, I have started my first play-through and I am greatly enjoying the game. However I am unclear on how the boss fights work. Do they replace an event(the last one maybe?) or is it handled another way(and if so how)?

replace an event of your choice!

Thank you very much for the clarification. I am greatly enjoying this game with how fun yet simple it is.

Also, I plan to try programming the logic/flow as a private learning exercise, would it be ok with you if I made the results open source with attribution to use as a portfolio item?

Glad you like it!

Yes, you can do that! Big fan of open source and programming and stuff. Go for it

Thank you very much, I look forward to starting this after I wrap up my current project.

(+3)

Hello! Do you have plans for a low-ink version? White instead of black?

(+2)

Yes! Just haven’t had time right now

yaaay! I’ll keep an eye out for it so I can attempt a home print.

The low-ink version is out!

This is so clever and is kinda blowing my mind for how a TTRPG can work. Thank you for making this, I'm heckin' INSPIRED right now! And, of course, it's all very well done :D

thank you so much!!

maybe I’m missing something but in the intro tutorial you bring 3 adventurers because it says to. What determines the amount of adventurers you can bring with you into dungeons for the rest of the game? It says if you bring 5+ you face the boss, so obviously at some point you can take more than three?

as many as you want. You just start with 3, and when you upgrade your great hall you roll for more characters. sorry it wasn’t clearer!
