We are excited and proud to announce that Wretched Depths is the recipient of GDWC’s 2023 Summer Season Hobby Award! We would like to thank everyone for supporting our game both while in development and after release!

This award means so much to us as many of us are just beginning our careers in the video games industry. What started as our senior year capstone project has grown into something incredible. We plan to take this honor with us into the future as many of us go off to work on existing beloved games and create new titles that bring excitement to our players. I know for me personally, the best honor I receive from creating games is knowing that they can transport people into new worlds and scenarios, bring them a range of emotions, and overall, hopefully, have a positive impact on their lives. Thank you all again for making the experience of creating this game one of the best experiences I've ever had.

Hi everyone, hope you are enjoying Wretched Depths 1.0. Our team is largely going to be taking a break for a few days before starting any production on 2.0. This is because the majority of us are getting ready for graduation next week. However, we are still going to try to iron out all of the bugs and issues that we have been seeing with the game after the 1.0 release. Likely, there will be more hotfixes to come for any issues that arise in the coming days. Please let us know any that you find in the discussion boards.

Welcome to Wretched Depths 1.0!
As mentioned in our last major update post (https://store.steampowered.com/news/app/2343240/view/3705942017949640159?) Wretched Depths began as student project for the University of Utah Capstone 2023 class. Our student project is complete, but we have a lot more we would love to give to our community. We are officially releasing 1.0 for our teammates who will not be continuing on the project to allow them to have a finished game within their portfolio, but the rest of the team is very excited to announce the start of work on Wretched Depths 2.0. We plan to include a lot of new content including different endings, new characters, controller support, and general quality of life updates. We also plan to open Beta testing to those who are interested. Keep your eyes peeled for a community Discord announcement coming soon.

Changes to expect in 1.0:

• The 1.0 ending is finally in the game!
  
• Added new scenery to the town.
  
• Added a new track to the radio
  
• Added a new event tied to the fisherman event
  
• Added the game credits
  
• Added more control clarity to the inventory

Bugfixes in 1.0

• Fixed a bug where mouse sensitivity was not being updated
  
• Fixed a bug where the fishlopedia progress would not save between scenes
  
• Fixed a bug where fish could sometimes be stacked in the inventory

Hello there fellow fisher-people,

Firstly, from the bottom of all of our hearts here on the development team, we want to say thank you all so much for the amazing response you have given us. It has absolutely blown us away that the game has done this well, and we are excited to continue to release more content for you all to explore. However, with that being said this is an update post on the current state of the team. Wretched Depths is a student led game that we have been developing over the last eight months, and it has been an amazing experience. After entering early access, we were surprised and delighted to find a community of people that love the game as much as we do, it really blew us out of the water! We are a small team who have been learning about Unity and game development while creating the game. Therefore, we are so proud of what we have been able to deliver to all of you so far. Unfortunately, because this was created as a student project and graduation is rapidly approaching, we are going to lose some of our team. Fear not though, because Wretched Depths will continue development with the remainder of our team.
We are excited to announce that Wretched Depths 1.0 will be released on Steam on April 26th. This will be the final version of the game that we have made for our capstone project, however we are also happy to announce that we will now be working on Wretched Depths 2.0! Because of the scoping of the initial project and the timeline, there were a lot of features and Ideas that had to be cut to make the game releasable within the timeframe of the class. So Wretched Depths 2.0 is our way to bring all of these lost ideas back to life and create the game that we would have made without such a short development cycle. As previously mentioned, the team will be shrinking as some of our members will be moving on to new and better things, but we want to keep bringing content to the community and will try our best to give you all something that you can enjoy! While the changes in our team structure will most likely mean our development will move a bit slower, we can promise that we have plans for the future and will try our best to keep our community updated. With all this being said, here are some of the plans we have for Wretched Depths 2.0:

• An expanded fishlopedia with more information about each fish!
  
• More music on the radio!
  
• More inventory features!
  
• Separate versions available for 1.0 and 2.0 to preserve the work of our peers who will be leaving the project.

These are just some of the plans that we have for the 2.0 version of our game, and we are so excited to begin working on them! As always, we will remain open to more involvement from the community! We plan on opening a beta testing option, and a community Discord server for more rapid community engagement. With that being said, if any of you have suggestions for the game, you can still feel free to leave comments here and ask us questions! We love all the wonderful feedback, art, and community involvement we have had so far! This game has been a passion project as well as a school project and we like to think that at this point it has become bigger than any of us thought, but none of that would be possible without you. We sincerely thank all of you for playing our small horror fishing game and hope you all will continue to watch it grow. We are excited to continue creating something you can enjoy, and that we can be proud of. We look forward to working with our community to make Wretched Depths the best we can.

Hello everyone. We noticed some players were having some difficulty progressing the game to the comet lure. We have made the event required to unlock this lure a lot easier to come across and fixed a few smaller issues as well.

- Made requirements for unlocking the comet lure a lot easier to stumble across
- Fixed an issue where the "shrimp" would swim backwards

- Fixed a graphical bug with the "Boots Event"
- Fixed an issue where the final event would not trigger
- Made the radio turn off during important scenes
- Fixed an issue where the player could walk around during certain loading scenes
- Fixed an issue where cut-scenes were not always skippable

Hello!
A bug several players found was when you interact with the trailer and choose to drive or sleep, you could quickly press E again to interact a second time has been fixed. This bug resulted in the camper menu being stuck on their screen and essentially locking the game until choosing to go back to the main menu and reloading the game.

Wretched Depths 0.6.0 is now live! This update involves a ton of new content, longer play-time, and several in-demand bug fixes. The full list of changes can be found below, Happy fishing!

• Fixed a bug where mike would sometimes not allow the player to sell him fish
  
• - Fixed an issue where audio from a certain event would not stop playing
  
• - Fixed several issues with textures clipping through each-other
  
• - Fixed a bug where the tension color gradient of the tension indicator was reversed
  
• - Fixed a bunch of grammatical issues and placeholder dialogue
  
• - Reduced requirements for certain events to occur
  
• - Fixed an issue where certain objects in the lake would block the lure from sinking
  
• - Fixed a bug with a certain fish swimming backwards
  
• - Fixed a bug with a few fish biting the lure with the middle of their bodies
  
• - Fixed a bug with the player sometimes getting softlocked when exiting dialogue
  
• - If the game was exited without saving it will attempt to make a save

As most of you should know thanks to Steam's handy dandy notifications, Wretched Depths is available for Early Access playtesting!

The initial reactions and feedback for this release have been fantastic! Thank you to everyone who has played so far. We have created an official bugs and issues board under the discussions tab. The already reported bugs are now being handled and will be fixed in an update coming to you shortly.
