yes, early release buggy launches aren't fun, but the caveat was there. we need more bronze age, and this needs further polished. so much potential just to lie abandoned because the main studio doesnt want to add isrealites or whatever the cause of neglect is.

I've dodged this game after the fumbled launch but was recently extremely surprised at the content and mechanics. I've played most Total Wars and this one currently is THE total war for me (after ODing on warhammer for a couple of years).

What makes the game stand out IMO is the depth of diplomacy and kingdom management. I spend way more time on managing all the layers of my empire (court intrigue is a minigame in itself!). The trading is so much more interactive simply by having a couple of resources (instead of just gold) that are equaly important in their own way and you have to barter stuff for stuff depending what you need and what they have abundant - if you take your time with checking up what other factions produce, you can make extremely lucrative deals).

While diplomacy, trade, god worship and culture mechanics are very satisfying and deepen the game tremendously, the battles itself are ALSO great IMO with the new lethality system (which you can tune or turn off, for the naysayers). Lethality means that each unit has a % stat to insta kill a unit on strike. Ingame this shows as units dropping here and there every so often which makes it more realistic, but also more dynamic and fun to play. Battles arent short, but they also don't drag out watching melee vs melee for half an hour.

Setting is bronze age, but mechanics wise, it's way more insteresting than many more modern setting, as you have so much to do on empire management side. Battles itself are interesting due to lethality and somehow unit movement is more fluid than other games. There's horses too, it doesn't feel like a unit type is missing. Every unit has it's role.

To me, this is defacto historical Total War right now, in 2025. As a bonus, it's also extremely pretty / good looking.

This is by far one of the worst, if not the worst entry of total war franchise ! Sadly it pains me to say this ,but everything just feels bland, rushed and not immersive at all . I decided to supp , because its ca sofia from my home country , but i think i made a mistake . Horrible performance issues , quit to desktop errors and such and not enough varieties in units in general and the blood and gore effects are a joke, hidden behind a paid dlc of course .... . Il stick to total war warhammer 3 ,thanks . Merry holidays though ! :)

Haven't made a single move yet, just admiring the atmosphere and design choices.

Overall a great version of the Total War Series. The right balance of battle tactics and strategic complexity. Balanced factions. Few glitches. Very enjoyable.

good game

A good game. Personally, I am not into the period very much. If you are, you will love this. One complaint I have is that the units look VERY similar. It can be hard to tell who is who on the battlefield.

One of the most enjoyable Total War games I've played to date.
