"In battle" even when Im NOT.

Very simple-I killed every single enemy, and eventually waited for any 'survivor' to come, but there was no enemies left at all, yet I couldnt open chest(s) or destroy dream shards since game still gave me "In battle" status, it happens in coop too. I even tested it out several times with the modifier that drains 1% of player hp when NOT in combat-my hp was draining yet I still couldnt open chests and so on since game treated me like I was in battle. This 'bug' glitch or whatever, happens VERY often which ...

While the visual style, sound design, and general gameplay loop of Ravenswatch are decent, the experience is undermined by significant balance issues. Specifically, the game suffers from a disconnect between character animation constraints and enemy attack patterns.

The Movement-Attack Conflict:
The game forces a complete halt during basic attack animations. In a high-stakes action game where health resources are scarce (health orbs are rare and wells are single-use), being anchored to the ground is a massive liability. This is compounded by enemy hitboxes that lack precision; many attacks have wide arcs (up to 180°) and instant tracking, making traditional "dash-behind" maneuvers unreliable.

Boss Design & The "Stop-to-Act" Trap:
The first boss fight exemplifies this friction. The tentacle phase requires the player to deal high damage while dodging a "bullet hell" and tracking storm effects. Because attacking requires the player to stand still, they are constantly exposed to overlapping damage zones. On lower difficulties, a single hit can remove 50% of the player's health, creating a scenario where the "Skill-to-Punishment" ratio feels arbitrary rather than earned.

Stagnant Meta-Progression:
Unlike other titles in the genre (such as Jotunnslayer), Ravenswatch lacks a robust meta-progression system. After multiple runs, the character does not feel significantly more powerful. The unlocks provide horizontal variety rather than the vertical power-scaling necessary to compensate for the game’s aggressive difficulty curve.

Summary: Until the hitboxes are tightened and the "animation locking" is balanced against enemy tracking speeds, the game remains more frustrating than challenging. And keep in mind, that is on easiest difficulty.

I REALLY want to give this a positive review. I absolutely love the PvE-MobA style gameplay, I think the hero kits are super engaging, they have lots of fun builds to play around with, fighting enemies just feels really good (most of the time). The art/visuals are fantastic, the sounds are good, and my first time playing the game I was in love.

Unfortunately, there are a few issues that seriously hamper the experience. The first huge issue is that the game has no grace for disconnects. It does handle ping extremely well, so it would be great to play with friends, but there is ZERO grace for disconnects. If a player disconnects there is no way to ever rejoin the game, and worse, if the lobby host ever disconnects, the entire run is instantly thrown into the trash. Multiple times I've had 30+ minute runs with my friends just erased because of a disconnect, and it immediately kills our enthusiasm to keep playing. This has been an issue for years and likely will continue to be an issue for years more.

Second big issue is that the harder the game gets, the worse it feels. Act 1 is really good imo and feels mostly balanced, but the enemies and bosses in Act 3 (and the final boss) are huge damage sponges and deal tons of damage in return. You HAVE to get pretty powerful scaling yourself by that point in order to keep up, which you can do, but it feels awful if you ever make it to Act 3 without sufficient power and every enemy out-stats you. Further, the higher difficulty settings greatly increase the damage you take to the point that a lot of dangerous attacks deal 50%-80% of your health, maybe more. It's so easy to slip up once on the higher difficulties and lose most of your health or just die outright. It's extremely punishing and doesn't feel good. But guess what, you're not allowed to fight the final boss unless you crank the difficulty up. The game mocks you at the end of Act 3 and then the run ends instead.

Third big issue is that the game becomes a lot more lame once you realize that the optimal strategy is
to ignore literally every fight except those that are required to open the points of interest. It's much better to just walk past every enemy on the road and fight nothing except the guards around chests and such. Not only is this extremely lame, but it means you spend way more time walking around the map instead of the fun part of the game which is fighting monsters. The higher difficulties are pretty much balanced around you doing this, and it just makes the experience worse.

There are some other issues with the game for sure, but if the above weren't a problem then the rest wouldn't be a big deal for me. Basically, this game is incredible when you first start it, but the longer you play and the harder it gets, the worse the experience becomes.
