In good conscience, I can only recommend Tomb Raider: Underworld to those replaying it for nostalgia. If you haven’t played it before, watch the cutscene movie for the story — it isn’t worth suffering the game’s abysmal controls, clumsy platforming and a camera that at times made me feel sick. Combat is bland and uninspiring, which doesn't help. The environments are beautiful and the level design is often good, but it’s easy to get lost and unsure what the game expects you to do.

Wanted to give this a go, but it literally doesn't work. Black screen on startup. There's some workarounds, like disabling all cores except 0-3 in task task manager and doing that every single time you run the game, but with 20+ cores that is not happening lmao.

Truly an underappreciated Tomb Raider Game. I've played them all and this one has some of my favorite levels of any of them. The underwater sections feel like you are truly diving deep into the ocean to explore ruins. Costal Thailand is such a lush jungle and the ruins there feel like no one has stepped foot in them for a very very long time. The only downside to this one is the controls can be a bit frustrating until you get used to them. It was never a deal breaker for me though. It's worth mentioning that it's still a beautiful game, even all these years later.

In terms of gameplay it's kinda similar to anniversary. A lot of silent puzzles & platforming.
Biggest difference to me is that here Lara occasionally whips out a camera to mumble about lore & her family.

I like the sense of scale in the areas. Big statues, long climbs & even massive underwater sections.
Graphically also a bit of a fresh air after Anniversary & Legend. Probably could've used some color though. First half of the game is green and last half of the game is blue.

I don't like how there are dozens of collectibles inside pots, which you have to randomly destroy to see which ones contain the collectible and which ones are empty. It's especially bad design during motorbike sections and unnecessarily ruins gameplay flow.

Lara in Underworld is also really boring when compared to how she was in Legend, and I even prefer how she acted in the Survivor Trilogy. She just seems to talk about lore to camera, and acts very matter of fact in general. And then there's the ending here, which just felt cut short.

The biggest nuisance in the game however was the darn camera. It follows Lara's model. It follows your mouse. It follows where game dictates it looks. And it feels like everything is constantly trying to wrestle against you. And sometimes it's just so sharp that it's a bit motion sickness inducing.

Also to the dev who made the camera zoom in on Lara's butt when running or close to walls, completely ruining gameplay visibility: ♥♥♥♥ you, and thank you.

Regarding bugs or other technical nuisances:
- Seems not having Vsync messes with the physics engine. I always play 72 fps cap by default so that didn't cause issues.
- I had to go to my audio settings & lower audio quality from 24 bits, 192000 Hz to 24 bits, 96000 Hz in order to not have audio crackling and popping.
- Main menu being 30 fps is a horrible thing to witness

the game itself is great didnt see the dlc unless its in the game its self however the controll machanics are out of wack for example im stuck on the first world because when lara sets down items they fly across the room weather its using the pc configurations (being the crlt button) or on controller (being the B button if on xbox controller) and when you go to throw the items out the door (cap lock for pc) (RB for xbox controller) she doesnt even throw its straight she throws it sideways while facing forward im dissapointed in this game for pc im only saying this not because isnt a good game but the machanics need fixing on it

The most unstable of the 3 games in this triology. Some great puzzles and beautiful environments. The motorbike is used far too often which is a bit frustrating.

Get this when on discount and you wont be dissapointed

Lara at her toughest. Great conclusion to the 2006 Legend Trilogy - an underrated series. There are some gameplay glitches, but nothing too terrible or game breaking. Combat is addictive and fun. Story is compelling and we see the conclusion to the mystery here. Always enjoyed how Crystal Dynamics ties together Lara's origin story and the original 1996 Tomb Raider.

daaaa fffaaaak is wrong with the control in this game? how did crystal dynamics destroy them? and the camera is NUTS! such a game and destroyed..
