Version 0.10.3 introduces a new Options Menu and several new settings, with a strong focus on accessibility. A short dev diary is available for those who want a deeper look:

• Camera: adjusted default speed and braking behavior

• General improvements to keyboard/control-stick navigation in menus

• Increased threshold distinguishing clicks from drags (clicking with a touchpad should now feel easier)

• Minor position and size adjustments to the Project UI, Dialogue UI, and Character Notes UI

• Hardware-specific phrases (e.g. “Click with the mouse”) in tutorial texts replaced with generalized wording

• Reduced wound chances in the trench

• Adjusted NPC troop behavior so they now move toward free machine-gun positions more reliably

• Machine-gun fire is now slightly more dangerous

• The “Too far forward/back” threshold is now more forgiving in the first three battle turns

• Fixed a critical error when a soldier was wounded near a position destroyed by artillery

• Fixed a rare error message during level transitions

• Fixed a late Wellinger story event that could never trigger

• Fixed cases where no rotations into the trench or into battle occurred after a scenario

• Fixed NPC dialogue options not being correctly removed, which could e.g. cause options meant for prisoners to appear on allied soldiers

• Prevented rare cases where firewood had to be gathered during sunny or hot weather

• Prevented the last active soldier from ending up in the hospital due to a worsening light wound

• Fixed Karrsbruck rejecting breaks due to “upcoming additional work” some turns before the home-leave announcement

• Fixed gas masks not being displayed after loading

• Fixed several typos and made text adjustments

• Additional minor fixes

Exactly one month has passed since the major update 0.10. However, we still had a few points on our list that we definitely wanted to include. Patch 0.10.3 will be released in the upcoming days and will include balancing adjustments and bug fixes as well as new settings options and UI improvements.

New in the settings menu are:

• Run in background (the game continues even when the window is not active)

• Slider for camera speed

• Date format selection (US, English, German and International)

• Slider for UI size

• Dyschromatopsia options (colours the red and green attribute icons in several steps)

• Slider for text speed

We've revamped the settings menu and split it into several menu items. We've also tweaked some interfaces so they scale properly and let you navigate multiple UI windows using the keyboard or stick.

Our goal is to make the game as accessible as possible. Therefore, we welcome any feedback on the current settings and possibilities that we may not have considered yet.

At the same time, preparations for the hospital update were already underway, and we are close to starting the actual production.

• Leader ability Encourage Comrades can no longer be used if all soldiers already have Fervor

• Fixed an error when a soldier collapsed during Recon

• Fixed several potential errors during battles

• Fixed a few minor issues related to Melee and Surrender that affected animations and cutscenes

• Fixed the Gas Stresses Cautious Soldier story event triggering multiple times in a row

• Fixed an incorrect translation key when activating the Scavenger skill

• Adjusted Skill trigger balance:
  - Requirements for very rare abilities slightly eased
  - General abilities (with few requirements) now have lower priority

• Troop morale is now properly clamped in all calculations (previously, real morale could be higher or lower than the full/empty UI bar indicated)

• Rat infestation in camp can no longer occur when supplies are low

• Rat infestation in camp now ends automatically when no supplies are left

• Success chance when dealing with rat infestation now depends on the traits Quick/Slow, Attentive/Inattentive, and the Poacher ability (also grants XP)

• Fitness now has a greater impact on chopping firewood

• Firewood chopping is now required for one additional month

• Fixed an error with escorted soldiers when they were wounded between two positions

• Fixed an error when using Aimed Shot on a troop with no soldiers left (e.g. if they were already taken out earlier that turn)

• Prevented cases where movement was still possible during Aimed Shot, causing an error

• Fixed a rare issue in Search for Fugitive Pilot

• Fixed a rare issue in Chop Firewood

• Fixed a rare issue in Listen to Comrades

• Fixed fire efficiency reduction not resetting after soldiers removed their gas masks

• Fixed incorrect danger calculation for certain situations (e.g. Sniper)

• Projects in the trench with danger level 2 or higher now correctly show that soldiers gain XP

• Tooltips for soldier drag&drop in projects now always appear in the foreground

• Fixed attribute tooltip text occasionally spilling outside the background frame

The Soldier Update (Version 0.10) is now live!

This update puts the soldiers themselves even more in the spotlight: their development, their relationships, and their role on the battlefield. In addition, two new faces are joining the troops, Georg Ackermann and Jan Fleckner, who bring new dynamics to everyday life in the trenches with their own stories and personalities.

The core features of this update are:

• Experience and skill system with 13 unique abilities for soldiers

• Two new soldiers: Georg Ackermann and Jan Fleckner

• Relationships between soldiers: friends and rivals system

• Troop morale, revised NPC logic and further adjustments in battle

• Expanded content: journal entries, projects, illustrations

  • Soldiers now gain experience both passively and through projects
