My expectations were far too high for this game, where a lot of many others called this game the second coming of Chrono Trigger, but all that it is was to me was a How to not make a RPG 101 for me! I don't even mean to hate on this game but it got me so upset with the game design not even 30m in, I'll keep it short for everyone,

- Weak tutorial, game doesn't teach you about the timing system right off the bat? Dude, I had to drop out at the prologue so I can't tell if the game does teach you later on but it only taught the player the basics, like how to attack, how to heal. Baby tier RPG tutorial.

- Wack storytelling and dialogue. The dialogue isn't really captivating, and the two MC's aren't very compelling which is practically unheard of for a RPG made in 2023... I couldn't take this game seriously, One specific thing that turned me off within the prologue is how empty the world seems to be. You're telling me the two MCs aren't the only Solstice Warriors, and they go to AN EMPTY SCHOOL? NO SLEEPING STUDENTS, NO STUDYING STUDENTS. Where are the NPCs in that school? It felt jarring for the worldbuilding.

- Irrational game design, like having to comb through the in game manual for how to actually fight, or how the game never healed you after the scripted battle in the prologue. That threw me off, I think it'd be expected for the characters to be fully healed after a timeskip, but guess not.

- Arbitary combat system; it's not really explained clearly, and not thought out as much compared to Paper Mario, despite taking inspiration. It feels shallow.


On the pros, the aesthetic is very done well. Shame about the story, it didn't captivate me as my expectations led me to.

$30 is a lot for a short game like this as well, refunding this for Yakuza LAD and IW sale but I may revisit in the future

F2P Game, unless you're one of the Intel iGPU folks and virtually 80% of PC players have run into any sort of graphical issue with this game, be it stuttering, crashes, frame drops. I don't understand why this game is so badly optimized even for people with rigs that have 3090's or better! That's ridiculous, right? And if you want to have more of a chance to play, you have to install this game onto a SSD, because there's a bug with HDDs and a 0/99% loading in bug because well, this game sucks at rendering things.

Genuinely though, this game is fun, but I think it's ridiculous how so much work you have to do to make it playable for yourself if you don't have a console, or a NASA machine (Not even counting the possibility that this game will lag like ♥♥♥♥ coming out of a frozen mammoth corpse.)

Devs are working on a fix for the graphics issue, fwiw because of DX12 complications with UE5, which makes no sense because plenty of other games run silky smooth and are made with UE5 (Finals, Fortnite) and so far the only solution for you and others who're presently having issues playing this "Next-Gen" game, is to simply buy better parts, or a new GPU for $$$ to play a "next-gen" ***FREE*** to play game!

This would be a 10/10 if the graphics weren't an issue for PC players, but devs knew this was a problem ever since CBT and hadn't worked on rectifying this game until live release??? Ridiculous!


Review updated as of 5/22/2025:

These devs cannot keep their optimization fixes consistent, because with the midseason patches, performance suddenly tanked even with the experimental settings

They're more concerned with adding cosmetics instead of actually fixing their dogwater game

Not worth the $10 price, get it at a sale like I did. Still refunding it anyway because holy crap my laptop should not be struggling to play this thing but it's expected because ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥

This game is a godforsaken mess, but I love it. Until I die to some jank ♥♥♥♥ like getting ledged or light spam.
