This is an incredible game it just needs to be fleshed out a bit more.

It feels like at times you're waiting forever for additional survivors. The survivors relationships with each other don't seem significant either.
The map is massive and gorgeous as are the rest of the graphics. It would be fantastic if the settlers could have families and eventually be able to build a space colony to really utilise the space.

The tech trees are fun with random "breakthroughs". These breakthroughs that are provided at times can be game changing While this adds a lot of variety it also makes the game feel a bit RNG. There are working mods that resolve this however.

it just doesn't feel like there's much to do. The "Beyond Stranded" mod was cool as it fleshed out the gameplay a bit and allowed easier access to survivors (repeatable expedition) as well as adding a (somewhat clunky) mine. Unfortunately it has since been abandoned and the game is yet to attract a large modding community.

TLDR - Great game could use more content.
