Early Access Review
Decided to boy this game on a whopping 60% sale.
I could've gotten a sandwich with that money.
I would have been a lot worse off with a sandwich.

This game has a hypnotic capture on me, it's atmosphere is engaging, its world is neat, the risks I find myself taking feel important. For a game you can quick and hard save anywhere, it's hard to feel engaged when you can just reload, but this game makes you engaged because the saving is on you, you could lose 30 minutes of progress and have nobody to blame but yourself for not saving.

If you liked unturned, this game is 100% your jam. It feels like all the best parts of unturned in a neat package.

Time trials and drift courses, livery customization, heavy car customization, workshop liveries and workshop tunes. Take courses solo or explore and chill the maps with other players. Smooth handling, nobody could ask for more

I got the entire Far Cry franchise, cheated through 1, glitched at the start of 2, completed 3, and I couldn't be bothered to finish this game. It was so low-stakes and not investing at all. Unless you do the secret ending, you end up split between two religious kooks infighting over how to overthrow the country which is canonically none of your business, you're just there to spread ashes.

3 was and forever will be a masterpiece, even if you didn't care for the characters, you still had some cool gameplay to back it up, this is the same as that, though the only good character I might say is the antagonist, Pagan Min, and he doesn't even get as much limelight as Vaas did, and Vaas was the mid-game boss!

Maybe it didn't particularly catch me, maybe I just wasn't captivated as some others were. I watched the endings on youtube. And good god am I glad I did. Every ending is bitter sweet. No matter what you do, you're left with the "You f-ed up" feeling that they hammer into you. Drug state or economically depressed/mismanaged country. The secret ending at the start is best, because you don't have to put up with the idiotic infighting of two of the most forgettable allies in the franchise.

I'll only come back if I want to play around in a far cry sandbox that's unfamiliar (since I never got familiar with this game), nothing else.

I really do have my grievances with this game. I enjoyed the first Watch Dogs very much, got both of them on sale for $14-total, which made it an exceptionally "Yes Please!" purchase.

The first Watch Dogs has a bit more of a sorrowful, bitter story, interesting and colorful characters, but it was nicely refined, and I initially thought it was a bummer some of the features were dead because of Ubisoft terminating online servers for it, but it is very much playable and completed without issue. It was a charming game with character, and fun to be had, while not being overwhelming.

This Watch Dogs game, well, it's definitely a Watch Dogs game. The story so far is engaging, it has interesting and colorful characters (Nevermind my obvious Wrench simping), and it's got more content, as any sequel does. But, on the contrary, these online servers are still up. Cool, right? Until me, a small noob of a player seeing the game encourage me to rob a bank trunk. Sure, I'll steal it.

[ENEMY PLAYER JOINED EVENT]

"What?" Before I knew it a sports car was headed for me, I jacked the bank truck and began hauling out of there, fighting this very much real player off with a slow, big truck. Police were closing in, he got the best of me, and killed me, stole the package, and somehow left, leaving the package behind. I steal the package from the street, still pursued by cops. Turns out I need to flee while the package's tracker is being hacked to disable it, so I disable the tracker, now I need to escape the cops.

[ENEMY PLAYER JOINED EVENT]

Now TWO fools are chasing a mere beginner, mind you, I have nothing more than a stun gun and pistol, I drove a van I stole into the water by accident, going so fast. I jacked a boat and fled as the- still very real players- were entering the pier I just drove off, stole a police boat and escaped the two. Made it back on land, died, respawned, collected the package

[ENEMY PLAYER JOINED EVENT]

FFS a fourth player come to steal my effort! I steal a car, and since a police helicopter is following, I do the classic Watch Dogs move and hack a garage door and drive into it. It's a dead end. Cops jam the exit, kill me, the fourth player rolls in, not wanted by the cops, picks up the package, and by default wins it since he has a package with a disabled tracker and no wanted level.

Now it makes me wanna go back to Watch Dogs 1 and enjoy the fact that no random player is just gonna roll up and ruin my day. There's still missions you can do alone or co-op, but I was expecting the usual formula of 'single player unless I open a lobby to multiplayer, or join a dedicated multiplayer mode', but nah, just walking around and someone can just drive right past you. One thing's for sure, I ain't robbing another bank truck, at least until I'm loaded
