I started playing Grim Fandango around 1998-1999. Then life hit me like a train and it was forgotten. Years passed and I nearly died two times from infection and burst appendix. Then I had kids and.. Yeah years passed.
So in 2016 I picked up the remastered version and started playing it. But once again in had to be set aside due to health problems, and also getting bullied and abused by a teenage daugher on a rampage, divorced and there was additional drama from that for past 3 years. Oof...

A couple weeks ago I started this game up again and continued. I finished the game and story today.

Grim Fandango might not seem much to you young people, but it is worth it! It is one of the games I will remember and feel nostalgic about, and with its own story and atmosphere. Once again that prove that fancy graphics isn't what makes a game good and give an experience that matter, and will be remembered.
But you will need a bit of patience, and think a bit inside and outside the box. Also, remember to save regularly.

This is a gem, and I am thankful I got to complete it, take part of the story and gameplay in my life.

My secret word (that is not so secret now though) that was given me:

Being an Early Access release it is working well and got a bunch of content.
Atmosphere is great, mechanics not too advanced. Exploration all over the place available.

I played a lot of Early Access, as well as released games past 30 years and seen my share of what defines bad releases, bugs and irritating things.

Out of the around 8 hours I played Nightingale I had fun and nothing to complain about so far. Game developers made sure the game runs stable in itself, that I can tell. Sure there are room for improvements, but for the price it is a good deal for some quality time of the game genre and story/lore alone.

No regrets :)
