I wanted it to be Patapon 4 that we never got, I really did.

Both music and graphics are great, I never doubted they won't be.
But the rest, oh god. I won't state the obvious problems with the demo, the game isn't finished yet but man, it's simply not fun to play.

The things that made me love Patapon series, they are not here. Commands feel bad – they use single button and only 3 out of 4 beats (with half of them skipping beat in between, which feels very wrong). I mean there is advanced commands mode that makes them use multiple buttons (still skipping beats) but somehow it makes it even worse. The ability to move characters freely is nice addition, but takes away from position management I got used to in Patapon. Character classes tied to hero class seems limiting. Gimmick bonus cards, roguelike elements, all of this is not for me.

I guess I just really wanted another Patapon game.
