I refuse to say anything about the game that could potentially spoil it. I'll just give the following information:

- I've done something to say that I'm satisfied with my playtime in such a short time after release.
- I've been playing the story on Expert, and the difficulty of charts was a little bit inconsistent, but I enjoy varying difficulty so I think this is fine
- I encountered one softlock (that came very soon after a save, so it was not a bother) and a few minor bugs, mostly visual
- This might be my favorite rhythm game ever made

If you like good movement mechanics in video games, play it. It feels a little bit slippery at first, but once you get more abilities and play for even more than an hour, the game begins to feel like a playground for movement and fun skips (most of which were probably intended!).

Combat definitely exists, but it's a bit one-dimensional. Ironically the best use you get out of attacking is for further movement opportunities down the line. That doesn't mean it isn't good, the combat mechanics are solid enough to make you at least want to try taking on enemies, and the movement makes certain fights with enemies really engaging.

AKA this game is great and you should play it.

First off, I want to say that I can see why this game has overwhelmingly positive ratings. This is my personal review and recommendation, and while I dislike the game overall, don't let a single negative review cloud your whole judgement.

My biggest problem with the game is pacing. One moment there's a really cool (surprisingly) emotional moment, but it's cut abrupt by jokes and quite frankly unfunny characters. On the topic of those jokes, some of them are just very bland, and some jokes even get repeated in ways that just make them worse. The puzzles are also very boring and feel same-y after the first few.

Late future society and you are a stray cat. I'm not going to say any more out of fear of spoiling something. Worth the $30. Play it. It's phenomenal. I cried.

I love this game.

Really, I do. But unless you are:

a) able to handle a pretty toxic community
b) inclined towards hard to learn games
or c) very patient

...this game is simply not for you.

Every time you enter into a game, it's a gamble. You either get a really good game with logical and reasonable people who understand the meta (which is uncommon) or a game full of idiots who know the meta but throw it out the window and make the game completely unfair or not fun.

Even when you get into the game, even if you get logical and reasonable players, there's a decent likelihood that they're toxic and just want to make the game hard to play for anyone but themselves. Yes, I know the point is for it to be hard, but not literally unplayable because it's impossible for people to read anything due to spam and excessive caps.

The game itself is a nightmare to learn. There isn't really a tutorial, it just throws you in and expects you to learn. You have to learn many different roles, the things they can do, and the conditions for them to win (which, for the most part, are self-explanatory, but there are exceptions). It becomes a lot to take in at once, and the main reason why a lot of people give up on it shortly after starting.

Most of these issues can't really be fixed. An in-depth tutorial giving you information on all of the most important roles would be the best way to solve one of these problems. However, for the others, there's unfortunately no real defense.

tl;dr This game is hard to learn and almost always toxic. Don't play it if you don't like that. Otherwise, hop right in.

Early Access Review
So far, this game is really great. The dev is active with his community and takes suggestions often. This game is being actively worked on and is a nice and simple voxel game. It looks like a Minecraft ripoff, but it honestly stands out a lot from it. I'd recommend this game highly to anyone who enjoys this kind of game.
