Gameplay is 'okay' at best.

However, my ratings haven't changed since its launch a decade ago.
Controls are horrible: no lock-on feature, paired with directional input moves - if you're facing a bunch of enemies in the same direction, you won't know which enemy your stinger will land. Also why are there multiple buttons you have to hold to use different weapons? Why not just make it one button to switch weapons?
Color coded enemies: counterintuitive with racking up style points when you have only limited moves facing these color coded enemies.

Story is horrible
Characters are horrible - Donte is obnoxiously unlikable, Vergin has 0 charisma, Kat has 0 personality
Setting is okay

This game works very well with Steam Deck though.

Game of the Year 2025

Me: *Strangles a random female NPC*
Guard: "Halt! You're under arrest!"
Me: "I just wanted to hug her."
Guard: "Okay then, we'll let you go this time."

-Also works very well with a 4050 laptop (80fps on medium settings!)

Solid "Fine, not Great, not Bad" rating.

Mid Story and Pacing. I wanted to know more about Imurah's back story or Chairon's story in Calth but I guess it might ruin the story's pacing? Although there are some badass and fan service moments for W40k fans.

Gameplay however is awesome and takes you back to early 2010's xbox gaming era and you might realize how much features and content missing in 'modern games'
- A full Campaign with Co-op
- Co-op PvE
- PvP
- No microtransaction currencies
- Runs fine on Day 1

Game is so addicting and a perfect companion for the Steam Deck.

Only draws 5-7W on the Deck on default clock settings, estimating about 4-5hrs on a single battery charge.

As much as I really want to recommend this game just by the new ATB system, this remake only covers about 20% of the original PS1 story - not even close to disc 1 of the original! I can't even fathom how many parts FF7 remakes there will be by the time SE finishes, with each of them costing a full 60$ 70$.

This remake side stories got bloated with unnecessary fillers that were not present from the original PS1 game.

Having played AC games since Armored Core Last Raven, I'm just glad FromSoft didn't abandon this IP.

Boss fights are epic and worth the price of the game.

Should you trust devs who abandon their game for 3 years, to work on a supposedly proper sequel, solo/coop campaigns to make up for this missing content from the first game (WHICH WAS 60$ BY THE WAY) only for them to cancel it for a quick cash grab from their greedy Live Service model?

Fkcin NO.

Even new heroes are locked behind either paywall or battle passes w/c you have to work a large number of hours in before unlocking them.
Blizzard does not respect your time nor your money.

Eastward defines the Art in Pixel Art.

Nevermind the story, the filler chapters, and the other negative feedback from the reviews, I think this is still worth picking up for its creative art alone.
