Ghostwire: Tokyo is a narrative-driven open-world magic-based shooter with supernatural elements. The main story takes about 8-10 to complete, but trying to 100% the game takes about 30 hours. I started off by trying to do everything and as many side-quests as possible, but I soon grew tired of the fluff and just went through the very linear story.

This is a good game overall, if you ignore all the fluff. The combat is actually nice as long as you don't overstay your welcome by doing all the side activities. By doing the side content, you'll also be over-powered and easily take down most enemies with your upgraded skills. Combat will also become dull and repetitive. You basically have wind power (like a handgun), water (like a shotgun), and fire (like a rail gun).

The story itself is good, but very uneven. There are sections of the narrative that are very emotional and has a strong message about life, family, forgiveness, & redemption. Then there are other sections of the narrative that are just baffling, like a section about getting parts for a motorcycle. Some of the side-quests have interesting narratives as well, but there's also several misses. The VOs are pretty good in Japanese, but then you'll have to do a lot of text reading in English.

Game is running on the Unreal Engine 4. On my RTX 3080, I was getting steady 60 fps on high graphical settings. Tokyo looked absolutely stunning. I did have RTX off just because I didn't want my GPU running hot. I did not experience any serious issues or bugs during my playtime.

Overall, this game just had so much missed potential. The combat needed to have more depth. The story needed better direction. A lot of the content here was just fluff. This game would have been better as a 7 hour game versus the 30 open-world game they were going for. Quality is always better than quantity.
