Fun little game. I would describe it as a progression roguelike base builder. It also has some elements of a clicker game without the clicking. There isn't really a failure state, but the game sort of requires you to voluntarily end your runs in order to progress the game. It's a really interesting concept. It took me about 8 hour to complete, and it doesn't have much replayability, but it's cheap and easy to get all the achievements.

Why put all this effort into the hero units and then not have a Last Stand mode like the previous games? Also, you have to edit the game files in order to get the UI to work with a 4k display. I expect that from DOW2, but how is UI scaling not just in the settings?

This game is so frustrating. On one hand, there is an incredible amount of polish and refinement put into certain things, but on the other core mechanics are fundamentally broken and don't work. The game is beautiful, the story is fleshed out, its never boring. There are almost zero loading screens, but opening the menu tanks the frame rate. Enemies regularly see you through solid objects while you're in stealth mode, and the combat inputs bug out and just stop responding altogether during combat. Attacking the correct enemy with the correct move/stance is very important, but there is no lock-on, so you frequently attack the wrong enemy during big fights. Sometimes instead of firing an arrow, you just drop your bow. There's lots of armor customization options, but very few match or look good together. The game will happily give you quest objectives to perform moves that you haven't unlocked yet. It's a fun game, but I wouldn't got around recommending it to people, because its going to make you frustrated if you get into it and start to notice the flaws everywhere. I'm going to try to finish it, but I'm not sure how far I'll make it if these issues persist.

EDIT: This game has the most horsesh!t combat controls of any AAA game I've played in recent memory. I cannot stress how bad the controls are, and they get worse the longer you play. They put so much effort into the story, the characters, and environment, just to take a massive steaming dump on the floor in the middle of the room as the game's centerpiece by having a fundamentally broken control scheme.

It's not a good Elden Ring/Souls game, nor is it a good Rogue-like. Feels like we got the worst of both worlds with the stupid shrinking ring from battle royals thrown in for bad measure. I really want to like this game, but I'm just not having any fun with it.

The graphics are beautiful and the core game play loop is really good, at the cost of pretty much everything else. The rest of the game is so unpolished and unrefined. They sold us 60% of a game and are trying to patch in the rest. The matchmaking and servers are terrible. There are missing quality of life features everywhere. A large portion of the player base had their entire progress reset at one point. When they add new features, you are given no credit for past achievements. So if they add something that says "Get 1000 kills to earn a reward." It doesn't matter if you've already gotten the achievement for 40,000 kills, you're still at 0/1000 kills. Which is frustrating, because they extrapolate that to all areas.

I dunno, the game is really fun to play, but everything outside of that is just so frustrating to deal with. I'd say pick this game up in 2 years when all the DLC is out and its on sale for $20.
